  1. Some somewhat new info courtesy of Billboard. I'll quote the important parts and link the sauce Sauce The biggest unofficial news nugget is of the "stadium tour tentatively set for summer 2016", which I will update the first post with. The other bolded parts just add to the evidence of what we already had listed. The rest of the news report is about Chris and his new charity project so I'll leave that out of this thread.

As promised, I've been listening to this album non stop. The later tracks that I once saw as the weaker ones have since grown on me. When I try to make the inevitable comparison between this and the first album, i'm still undecided. They're both pretty good, but I try to make those decisions much later so as not cloud my judgment with the 'new-ness' of Chasing Yesterday.
  3. So a lovely snippet from Chris came via Rolling Stones mag sauce Nothing really new that we haven't said already in this thread. Kinda just reconfirms what was already said. That a huge tour is following and that collaborations are in store (producers or vocal guests).
  4. Ha, Melwen, I think its the first time I've seen you outside the Noel thread! Shouldn't you be busy listening to the leak?

Just finished listening. Not gonna hype it too much or call it a bust, this is just one man's opinion. I liked it. A little less than the first album. Still would listen to it over and over again though. I listened in sequence and everything up to and including Dying of the Light was awesome (esp Dying of the Light itself). From then on, it got a bit too 'Chinese Sleeping Chant' for me. And then the final track, that we've all heard by now, kicked in and I was back to groovin' along. I will say the first track reminded me of something he wrote already and, I think it was a track early on (track 3 or so) that gave me a 'The Masterplan' inrto vibe, as well as a 'Space Oddity' vibe, lol. But I'll say it again, I do like this album and will be listening again. Oh and bad luck about the leak itself. My personal opinion again, but I don't exactly like it when albums or songs leak (like ASFoS), but if/when they do, I WILL take a listen. Anyways only 2 weeks for those holding out for the official release day.
  6. i remember now. But I also remember at the time not being sure if this is a one off gig or the start of a tour.
  7. Before I give my answers/opinion, let me just say I intend on answering this by connecting the album with the album art from the BAND's perspective. Obviously i'm not a part of the band, but there are things they have said or obvious things that I can talk about. Parachutes: The current album art was actually a last minute thing. The unsed album art was disliked by the band and at the last minute, they decided to take a picture of a spinning globe instead. As far as I know, they just wanted a good looking cover with no deep or hidden meaning. A Rush of Blood to the Head: I do recall they enrolled someone to this this album art for them and the related single art. As far as themes and connections go, I cannot say but I guess it has a common kind of 'progressive art' theme. X&Y: The band were moreso into the connections between science and art at this junture of their career reflected in the album art and music of the era. The art is actually a code in which the answer key is found within the page of the album art sleeve. Viva: Chris has said that the basic genisis of the album came from when he was inspired by works of art from Eugène Delacroix and frida kahlo. From their work came the album art and the name of the album and the songs themselves. MX: Another quote from the band; MX cover art, theme and songs were inspired by graffitti and the idea of turning grey old walls into colourful works of art via graffitti. GS: Well, they went ahead and hired a professional artist to do their art again a la ARoBttH. The colour and wings on the album art fit the 'blue' theme of the album and the reoccuring theme of birds and flying. These discussions always remind me of this:
  8. omg, my thread was advertised on Coldplaying's twitter account! Thanks

sigh, I've been trying to get my friends to go but no luck. And I would consider going with coldplayers from here or something but not many seats left now...I regreted not going last tour and I'm sure I will this tour as well....
  10. Well, I have on the first post that they've been working since Summer 2014. TBH, I dunno where I got that date from. GS was released in Spring 2014, so that would make it seem like they started on LP7 right after. I may be confusing facts from fiction, but I was under the impression that AHFoD was originally being worked on after MX. But after the Chris/Gwyneth breakup, they put that on hold to do GS. Now with GS done, they continue their work on a half finished AHFoD. I may be way off, but I really don't remember if that's a theory or fact.

Well, Riverman showed up on Youtube but its very low quality. Lower than when ASFoS showed up....Gonna wait out for a better quality or the album in a months time
  12. jc90 replied to a post in a topic in The World Of Music
^ still can't find any recordings of the songs, new or old ones....
  13. News: Will be updating the first post with Davide Rosse collaborating on LP7
  14. This is exactly the kind of mindset this thread is about. You. You get it. Gold star for you!
  15. The song is called midnight not midnight blue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_%28Coldplay_song%29 Again, ask yourself do you truly believe it's a colour or do you just wanna twist the facts to try and weasel your way to the conclusion you want?
  16. ^ I don't know that it will START in South America, but it'll defo go through there at some point as suggested by 'a global tour will follow' Also, I was about to add a post about this new song that showed up on one of the music databases, but looks more like a Rihanna song or a song that simply sampled a Coldplay song, not a new song by Coldplay.
  17. Ok, let me tell you what the problem is. A majority of ppl here are only coming up with reasons now to justify the existence of this pattern. If you objectively ask ANYONE if Midnight is a colour, or if Ghost Story is a colour they would say no it is not. Guys, the Oracle said it herself that there was never such streak and that it was a coincidence. She even said Charlie Brown shouldn't have counted. Sorry to rain on the parade, but this streak has been over for a while....
  18. That just sounds wrong doesn't it lol
  19. Oi, keep that in the other thread MOD. Only srs bsns here plz kthxbi

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU, TO presale sold out in -3 minutes. That's right, the presale was set for 10AM and sold out at 9:57. Hopefully they add another show? Or more tix released for general.
  21. uhhh, because the band said so....The beauty of this thread is that NOTHING is made up (the opposite of whose line is it anyways, lol /tangent). The thread is 3 pages, read it and you'll find where they said it. And while you're reading, read the first post as a TLDR. You'll see that the release date I settled on (based on facts and quotes) includes 2016 and is listed under LIKELY not CONFIRMED.
  22. Thats what I figured. Good catch.
  23. jc90 replied to a post in a topic in The World Of Music
NA tour dates announced. I'm wanting to see the show in Toronto but my friends aren't up to it....
  24. Reminds me a lot of this The story behind the parachutes album art (iirc) is that the band had a cover all made but the band didn't like it. So in a last minute sort of thing, they bought a globe, Guy gave it a spin, and they took a picture of it on a disposable camera. For X&Y, the band was in a very science-artsy vibe and liked the representation with the multicoloured code that Jonnyandthecake mentioned.
  25. Minor bump here. I've resized the album release window to include Q1 2016 with the apparent news that recording is going slowly (from a fan who spoke to a member of the band). https://twitter.com/Saadbennani1/status/556110795034337280 https://twitter.com/Saadbennani1/status/556117161920696320 And something I caught on Rik Simpson's twitter feed: Some fans were suggesting that clip was gonna be on GS, some say it was ASFoS, some thought it may be on LP7. All debunked from the man himself.
