  6. Dear ONE Member, This week Bono began a six-country tour of Africa. His trip will shine the global spotlight on some of Africa's poorest nations. On Tuesday evening, May 23rd, for the first time in history, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams will broadcast live from Africa; we are going to make sure this is an event to remember. That night, ONE members all across the country will host house parties to watch this historic broadcast and get their community involved in the movement that is making poverty history. Please join us as we help Bono focus the world's attention on stories of hope and inspiration from Africa. Join your friends, have a bite to eat, watch the broadcast, and find out what's next. You will bring us one step closer to changing the world. Can you host or attend a watch party this Tuesday? http://www.one.org/dia/track.jsp?key=55525153&url_num=2&url=http://www.one.org/watchparty/ Our votes, our voices, and our time add fuel to a fire that will make America the world leader in the fight against poverty. Next Tuesday night that fight will be waged in living rooms all across the country. Have some chips, turn on the television, and come together with your friends and neighbors. Can you host or attend a watch party this Tuesday? Thank you, Michelle Dixon, ONE Team ONE.ORG | PRIVACY POLICY | UNSUBSCRIBE | CONTACT US | FAQ
  7. Well, I agree with your long piece ... I believe that Eric Clapton, and I have seen him many times and still love his music, he is the one that is detached from what is going on with the music today, he probably is living a more secluded life and yes, he sounds like he is just getting old... too bad, great songwriter and guitarist!
  8. Amsterdam or that piano version of Yellow would be "killer" Oh, how I wish that could be me... lucky, lucky that person!
  9. Yes, beautiful name, and I can see all these babies havin their own section at the concerts! Of course, Apple will be the oldest and "the leader of the pack" :)
  10. Agree on the letter thread! We are going to blow this kid's mind! :)
  11. Yeh, this guy has gone off the deep end... I hope that Katie wakes up and dumps this guy. I used to like Tom in his early days... One of my favorite movies was "Risky Business", but I don't want to watch his movies any more, it's such a turnoff, knowing what he has turned into! I just hope that none of the CP families EVER get involved in this stuff....NEVER! :smash:
  12. When I was a young girl, "I tried to listen" hahah, I had to say that, cause that's what came into my mind (White Shadows) No, seriously, it was the Beatles....my girlfriends and I used to wear Beatle boots, hats, paste their pictures on our fingernails and I can't believe this one ... we all cut our hair and wore it forwards...and sang all their songs everyday on lunch breaks...OMG! We were young and crazy in love with the Beatles! That's why I bought my first guitar, I wanted to play their music so bad. Not since then, til Coldplay came around, have I been so wrapped up in someone's music. I go to alot of concerts and buy alot of music for years, but like someone else said, Coldplay has taken over me for about the last two years, although I have bought other music, it just seems to get shelved and Coldplay, well, I play them everyday! And that's why I started playing the guitar again. It's like they have become part of my body and soul! :)
  13. I have converted several coworkers to CP fans, basically, they had really never listened to their music, so I just make them a couple CDs and everyone has come back with "Wow, this music is so good" And I reply, "Yes, another Coldplay fan!". I even had one come back and say, "We are now a Coldplay family, my wife loves them and my son has put some of their songs on his Xbox, and let me know when they play here again, cause we all want to go to their concert" I just told him, well that won't be for at least three years! But with all this, it makes me feel good when I convert another! :)
  14. Thanks for all the info... can't wait to write a letter to "Zali" this is so exciting! :)
  15. Oh, that was a good movie, this guy Schmidt wrote and received letters from a child he sponsored, which he was a lonely man but he had this child who brought happiness in his life....if I remember correctly, it was a while ago! :)
  16. Congrats to the Champion family on their new little girl and Good Luck to the future little Berryman! All I can say is "absence makes the heart grow fonder" or in other words, "being on tour makes you horny baby" :laugh3:
  17. The best concerts... well , there was the Beatles in NYC, then the Stones, Aerosmith, GNR, Pink Floyd, Zepplin, Eric Clapton, those all a few years ago The best this last year... well, Aerosmith (20 yrs later), the Stones (20 yrs later), Velvet Revolver (Slash, 20 yrs later), David Gilmore (20 yrs later)... how crazy is that, just goes to show you rock and roll never dies, well , unless you almost die falling out of a coconut tree last week... crazy Keith Richards! And just three days ago...Train, outstanding guitar playing and Pat Monahan's voice can blow you away and did Zepplin (Goin To California acoustic) and Aerosmith (Dream On) better than Zepplin and Aerosmith... Drops of Jupiter and Calling All Angels, my favorites! :)
  18. :laugh3: I like the dancing fruities! :)
  19. I put this in the other thread, but here goes again... someone mentioned about how beautiful the ending on Politik was and I was thinking about that. "Oh give me love over this" So when we get the address, maybe we can send him a music player with Coldplay music, (with a years supply of batteries, of course). Even if he doesn't speak English, I think they speak French, so anyway he can listen to the beautiful music. Can you see him playing Coldplay music with his friends? Oh, and some Coldplaying Charity Club T-shirts too! :)
  20. Let's send Zali a music player with Coldplay music so he can listen to it, even if he doesn't speak English, I think they speak French! He can still listen to the beautiful music! Can't wait to get the address to write! Boy, I am loving this more each day! :) Oh, and some Coldplaying Charity Club T-shirts! :)
  21. Update letter... Dear ONE Campaign Member, We are changing the rules of the game. Earlier this week, Matt Damon urged you to ask your Senators to stop billions of dollars in development assistance from being cut from the President's request by signing on to an important letter to Senate Appropriators. ONE members responded by sending over 100,000 letters to Congress in just 24 hours. That letter now has 45 signatures from Senators on both sides of the aisle from all across America. We have just one day before the deadline. We want 6 more Senators to sign before the letter is sent. Send your Senators a quick note asking them to join the urgent effort to stop cuts to the President's request for life-saving development assistance. http://www.one.org/dia/track.jsp?key=53480363&url_num=1&url=http://www.one.org/dia/organizationsONE/one/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=1285&t=OneColumn.dwt When I was in Zambia with Matt, we went to a facility that provides care and treatment to thousands of HIV/AIDS patients per day. One of the four nurses who works there told me she hadn't had a day off in the last 5 years, because they are so understaffed. The next day, we met Chimunye, a 14-year old girl who walks an hour and a half to school each way. We visited the community school being built nearby that was about to change her life. The clinic and the school we visited continue to change lives in Africa in large part because of the investment of supportive nations around the world - most notably the United States. There are few places in the budget where we see so clearly America's money saving lives. Please urge your Senators to support this effort. http://www.one.org/dia/track.jsp?key=53480363&url_num=2&url=http://www.one.org/dia/organizationsONE/one/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=1285&t=OneColumn.dwt Thanks for your help, Tayloe Emery, ONE Campaign ONE.ORG | PRIVACY POLICY | UNSUBSCRIBE | CONTACT US | FAQ
