the one on ebay is being sold by EIL. you can probably find it listed on their cite, as well. They are VERY overprices, but generally only sell items that are mint or near mint conditioned. you should be able to find one for $1500 USD or less. i've seen them range from $600-$2000 USD. eBay is your best bet, but its not something you want to shoot for if you're on a timeline.
  2. don't just check ebay.com, check ALL ebay sites individually. Unless the seller has chosen to sell internationally and play the extra fee, the item may or may not show on your local ebay site. Before bidding/buying, make sure s/he will ship to you. check all the market place sites. GEMM, netsoundsmusic, musicstack, etc... Each offers thousands of vendors the opportunity to sell through their sites, avoiding the auction sites. I've found many great buys on market place sites (Mince Spies for $25 USD, for example). Avoid EIL; they're overpriced assholes. finally, don't forget about general internet searches for hard-to-find record shops worldwide. I have amassed approximately 500 that I like, am comfortable with and who generally carry a good selection on a regular basis. I search these about once a week. Lastly, be prepared to pay. If you really want it, it might cost, but depending on general availability, you may not see another opportunity for purchase. Over the years, I've accumulated approximately 600 Coldplay CD's and vinyl records by just repeatedly checking auction sites and marketplace sites. It also helps to be super thankful and polite with all sellers, as if they take a shining to you, may make you offers to buy rare stock before they place an item up for public sale. I've made a lot of friends on contacts this way. Good Luck!
  3. Figured I'd post this here, as most collectors probably check this section often. FYI for collectors who use eBay; Seller "ducksicc" was most likely suspended recently for selling counterfeit Safety EP's. S/he posted a few copies for auction on US and UK eBay sites, and successfully scammed one buyer. Ducksicc's previous feedback was low numbered, but solid. Since the Safety EP was pulled, s/he has received a negative feedback for selling counterfeit CDs. One of the positive feedbacks left also stated the CDs sold were copies. Needless to say, he was reported to eBay. Tuesday, an email was sent to those who reported ducksicc (message not sent through eBay), stating they "messed with the wrong person....enjoy ebay for a short time...soon you will be suspended." The return email address used was [email protected] Again, eBay was notified. I'm assuming this a$$hole may attempt to buy from the reporting parties, just to make a false claim. No one is overly concerned, but I wanted to be sure you were all aware this guy's a complete jag and sells garbage. Please pass this along to other music collectors; ducksicc was selling "rare" CDs by several different artists. Please Please Please!!! Avoid at all costs.
  4. fake safety? who'd you buy from? FYI, a couple of us recently got a guy suspended from ebay, after he was selling multiple copies of fake Safety's. think one or two people got burned. the one's who reported him recently got a message stating he was going to have us suspended...whatever, but im wondering if this is the same guy. you remember his ebay name or real name/address? He used two different ebay id's this past month. BTW, you ever go over to coldplaybootlegs.com? I'm trying to help out posting up a true completist discography, including elusive acetates, etc... if you get around to cmon over.
  5. Nah, haven't really played of yet. I'm off work Tuesday, so I'll probably run it straight to flac through winamp. I'll ul it then, and can shoot you the links. I'm super curious to compare them myself.
  6. Yeah, I'll keep the payment details to myself. It was more than a punch to the stomach, but I didn't want to let the opportunity pass me by. The seller was really fantastic and alowed me to pass some items as trade, along with an amount of cash.
  7. I'm super excited! just added an Ode to Deoderant demo CD to my collection! Verified as authentic by a a few extremely reliable sources. Apparently used to record the cassette demos Miguel, if you out here, I love you, man! It's beautiful.
  8. Except tie it up ;-) Hoping for a Hawks win in game 5 Saturday!
  9. Hey, pricing is a tough list to put out. I had a sheet of releases and their going rates sometime back, but with the economy the way it is, some items which sold for gold two years ago, can be found for much lower prices right now, while some super rare items still maintain their selling values. I generally hit about 100 global online record shops a month, and peruse ebay (all the ebays) two-three times a week. If there's ever anything specific you're curious about, shoot me a PM or an email, I can definitely let you know if you're getting a good deal, a fair deal, or a bad deal.
  10. I doubt it; just coincidence. Green Day has been around since I was in high school, and let's just say Ive already attended my HS ten year reunion...a few years ago. Think they've developed into themselves, and earlier on, had more punk pop influences which grew into the GD we hear today. Not my favorite band, but I've seen them a few times, and they've definitely never gone out of their way to please corporate america or to add punctuation to song titles in homage to another rock/pop group.

yes it's official. i promise; ive been collecting coldplay for over 7 years now; sorting through the fakes is a full time job. aside from Parachutes single cassingles in the EU, we havent seen much in the way of the releases on cassette, but Parachutes was definitely distributed on cassette in the EU. Cassette releases are still very true for several Asian countries. Malaysia, Indonesia, and even Singapore. Even AROBTTH was released on cassette in Japan at some point; I own a promotional issue of the cassette (very real). The value of obtaining one is to be seen, i guess. Cassettes wont stick around like vinyl, but were more predominant that eight track tapes. Hell, even some old reel-to-reel tapes fetch nice prices on eBay...but cassettes were around a lot longer than reel-to-reels too.
  12. oh god, please no...you've created the thread that will go on to the next millenium!
  13. might be better off checking a site like lavamus. a lot of other DL sites get releases a lot more quickly.
  14. I'd say I'm close, but still missing a few key pieces, like the Astoria acetate and the Ode cassette, among others. I know my list is written out in this thread somewhere, found it in the archives after a search a couple weeks ago. It took me years to build it up.
  15. over 250+ rarest, probably the safety ep or the SOS black vinyl test press
  16. Hey folks, been a long time since I posted, but for those beginning or trying to complete with collections, don't give up on getting your hands on the rare goods. Aside from Ode and a few test press promos... And my long sought after Astoria press, I'm damn close to a completist collection from Safety through X&Y; after buying a house, I'm not sure if i'm going to continue with Vida; it gets expensive. Anyhow, I went about it by getting my hands on all my region releases (us and Canada), then moved onto the uk releases, Japanese, Dutch, german, etc.... Using sites like eBay, GEMM, musicstack, netsoundsmusic, etc... And constantly monitoring hundreds of record shops around the world, I was able to get several copies of What If, my Safety ep, copies of the Virgin EP, an SOS vinyl test press, etc... With sellers eventually contacting me when they located rare items. Building relationships with good sellers is key. It's how I primarly gained most test presses and acetates. Aside from Ode and Safety, which you'll primarily find on eBay, and the extremely limited test presses, not much else is impossible to find, you just have to dedicate hours to building your collection. It'll come; give it time.
  17. i shelled out for the ticketmaster auction. only thing that sucks, is I won the first bracket, but the best seats avail for the auction are 6th row floor. i'm not complaining, but who gets access to rows 1-5?
  18. newbury comics, online, is selling a ltd (think 1000 made) pint glass with copies of the record. it's kinda cool. http://www.newburycomics.com/rel/v2_viewupc.php?storenr=103&upc=509992168860
  19. wish I had more info for you. I pre-ordered a copy from an ebay seller for about $6 USD cheaper
  20. Chris and Jonny did an interview about the new record with WXRT (Chicago radio), which aired in two segments on May 15th. Here's the main link to the archive; just scroll down a little, and you'll see the links for part one and two. WXRT gives you an option to listen or download,a nd it's all free. I'm just listening to it know, so have no feedback, but enjoy! 21. just got mine yesterday (im in chicago)
  22. curious to see your list. my emails : [email protected]
  23. it's a cardboard duo or tri fold with a plastic tray inset. instead of the plastic jewel casing. more environmentally friendly
  24. 66 replied to dario-1's topic in Past Releases
same tracklisting, etc... only difference between the cd's is in the casing and serial numbers. not a big deal unless you collect.
  25. ahhh...i see what you mean; collector-wise, it'd be an inclusive item of the box set, versus an individual release.
