  1. Bump :nice: From coldplay.com Guy produces The Pierces - interview and free download September 10, 2010 7:41 pm Catherine from the band tells us about working with Guy On October 25th, two sisters from Alabama known as The Pierces will release a new EP, Love You More. It was produced by our very own Guy Berryman alongside Coldplay producer Rik Simpson, so we got in touch with Catherine from the band (pictured, left) to find out a bit more. The Pierces are also offering Coldplay fans a free download of their To The Grave track, which you can get from here. Hello Catherine, how are you? I'm very well, thank you. We arrived in London two days ago and so far we are miraculously jet lag free. Also our hotel gave us a free upgrade to a lovely suite...so we are feelin' lucky. For those Coldplay fans who haven't heard of The Pierces, what do you sound like? Our newest record is really big and beautiful and melodic. We keep getting compared to Fleetwood Mac which is a compliment we'll take any day. How long have you been going? We've been singing together since we were little kids but we've been doing it professionally for over 10 years now. Is it true that you were about to split up when Guy called and asked you to support Coldplay in South America? That is true. We were just really frustrated with our label at the time and we'd had so many years of almost making it. We felt stuck so we thought maybe we should split up and do solo records. Then we got the call from Guy and was a very clear sign that we should stay together... for at least one more record! And although you didn't do the tour, you did end up working with Guy? Yeah, the tour didn't happen, it kept getting postponed, but Guy had some free time so we decided to record some songs. It was clear pretty quickly that we were onto something good. He brought Rik in and it just all came together. What were Guy and Rik like to work with as producers? They're great. We loved working with them. We had so much fun in the studio but at the same time they were total pros... they know how to get shit done! And you recorded in the Bakery? How was that? It's an amazing place to record. It has a great vibe and the boys made us feel right at home. We are so happy we got the chance to make music there... unbelievable. Guy and Will also contributed musically to the recordings. What exactly did they do? Will played drums on a few tracks and Guy played bass on everything and some percussion here and there. And presumably you're pleased with the finished article? We love it. We can't wait for people to hear it. So, what are your plans for the rest of the year? We are going to launch the record in the UK and then we plan to tour. We'll actually find out today about our first shows. We're itching to get out there and play again, it's been a while. Finally, whenever we interview musicians for Coldplay.com, we ask what their favourite Coldplay track is? We love The Scientist. It's just so sad and beautiful. Kinda wish it was one of ours... maybe we should cover it :) Click here to get your free download of To The Grave by The Pierces
  2. They better spill out any info they got when they come back :P So happy for them, and especially Anna, they got really nice pics :nice:
  3. Denise replied to thebeehive's topic in Past Releases
The few news about the LP5 can be found in the general Coldplay section, some info were posted in their brand new Ping account on iTunes, for everything else you can check wikicoldplay, or even Roadie #42 blog on coldplay.com, tough he has been MIA for long now :)
  4. All the pages come up with an error....booooo :disappointed:
  5. Pics and videos should be working for every country now, I can see them in the Italin store as well
  6. Awesome, well done Aurelie :D I didn't know they email people to let them know :)
  7. It seems to me that the hypnofeed might be an advanced version (just because it links to another site) of Apparatjik's datascroll :P
  8. If I can get a ticket at a reasonable price (and if there's anyone left after the serpentine members got theirs) and the flights price is not going to be insanely expensive (and it's not cheap even today) I should be going :uhoh: a lot of ifs I reckon  I need to be positive :blank:
  9. For those who can't seem to see pics and videos change country to the US, search for Coldplay on the store, then on their page click on "profile" on the right and it shouldn't ask you to create a Ping profile...I have an account in the Italian store and it worked this way :) I know it's a pain in the ass always changing the country to see the added content, but it should be fine until they find a way to make everything available for everyone
  10. It seems that's a very bad timing for both his UK and italian dates as he's gonna play in Milan and Rome the week before :uhoh: However I'm gonna quote bjaiken 100%, save the money and go for the full band
  11. I've never seen Will being mentioned anywhere about their album, but that's awesome, quoting Aurelie's status "the rhythm section rules" :D It's not the first time they worked together outside of Coldplay, they played for one of Magne's albums as well :nice: Thanks for the article Ian  edit: from their myspace
  12. Thank you Anna, I still haven't found a place here who sells Q :dozey: Which month is that on? And I corrected the info I wrote before, it's an EP coming out in October, not the album :)
  13. Bumping this up with an update posted from the Pierces on their (now old) website http://thepiercesmusic.wordpress.com/2010/09/01/hello-everyone/ According to the new website the EP with the song Love You More will be out in October 25th in UK, and there's a preview on their new websitehttp://www.thepiercesmusic.com
  14. The first new song is an instrumental song called Return of the Stingray Guitar, you can hear it in this video, I really like it, it was the intro song before Beautiful Day and it put me in the right mood for the gig [ame= ] [/ame] The second is a sort of ballad, not sure about that one, I think I prefer the song for Glastonbury, it's more rock even tough I need to listen to both a few more times before getting a real idea of what I think of them.
  15. Why is this topic so dead now that they started to tour again and played three new songs? :whip: Nancy you're gonna have a really great time, I couldn't stop jumping and singing the whole concert, I can't say I'm completely happy with the setlist since they didn't play my two favourite songs from the last album, but they played Until the End of the World and Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me which was missing live since 1998, and three new songs, we got to sing happy birthday to The Edge, plus I still have the gig in Rome for a different setlist :awesome: Bono is back in full form And I was among the lucky fans who waited for them the night before the show and got to see them coming out to give us pizzas, I didn't get one because of all the police in the middle, but I shook Edge's hand, and that was enough for me to make the six hours waiting worthwhile
  16. Ok so they're gonna play in Modena on thursday and then both teams will be in Turin on friday to see the gig, in the VIP section, lucky bastards  Anyway, they keep rehearsing and they played Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me today. Here's the news from the italian fansite updated as the rehearsals keep going right now :bomb: I can't take it anymore
  17. I think I've read it in the u2 italian forum, it must be some Juventus match, but it was already planned that they were playing somewhere else where they can also attract more people. The stadium is property of the Municipality so they decided what to do with it and I guess it's pretty clear that U2 is bringing them a lot more money
  18. Great pictures Evelien, reading all the titles of your collection is not like seeing it all displayed
  19. Bump They're setting up the claw in Turin and the band should arrive tomorrow to start rehearing, it seems someone also found out where they're gonna stay :D All the pictures here - 12 days till I see them standing right on that field :bomb:
  20. They only played Bigger Than Us, but Tommy said on twitter they have being rehearsing new songs live the past weeks and should start playing them at the Frequency Festival in Austria in August (can't remeber the exact day right now) :) @Arantza Hope they'll come to Guadalajara, and it's plausbile the price for the tickets could be cheap, everytime I went to see them it was, at least compared to the price I'm now used to pay for other gigs, yesterday evening it was 22€, but there was also another band playing, when I saw them back in February it was more or less the same amount.
  21. Have fun at the show Perrine, I'm more than sure you will. There were fans of the band playing after them yesterday too when I saw them, but I was lucky enough people shifted and made space in the front row. They were a bit unlucky tough cause yesterday it was the hottest day in Italy so far, even Tommy mentioned it in its tweet this morning, but I'm happy cause he also said it was one of the most enjoyabel festival shows they played :nice: They came out to sign stuff afterwards and I got to ask Harry when the news album si coming out, he said it's gonna be early next year, that he hoped we're gonna like it and they that they're really proud of it, and you could see by the way he said it that he really meant it :D A few pics, I didn't take many cause the lights sucked so it wasn't really worth it spending the entire gig doing that :P
  22. My top three too, tough no.1 is All These Things, no.2 When You Were Young and no.3 A Dustland Fairytale..ehh I love the epicness :nice: I love him, he is truly the best  Yeah it's a pity the cut Sweet Talk from the past tour and only played it a couple of times. I was lucky to catch it three times in the summer 2008, when they toured before Day & Age release, and people really loved it.
  23. If someone wants to "find" the easter eggs on the DVD through a normal DVD player click on the spoiler
  24. I had a feeling it was you Aurelie
  25. The first single, Crossfire, has been leaked by a US radio (don't know which one), just search for it on youtube, I won't give a link since Universal is taking them down one after the other
