  1. As you might have guessed, yours truly was in attendance. I already saw Kerry at a rally a few weeks ago, but I had to go to this one when I heard Bill Clinton was going to be there. Anyway, I think this was one of Slick Willie's first public appearances since he had heart surgery a couple months ago, and he looks and sounds like he's doing great. And even though most polls in Pennsylvania and the entire country are showing Kerry and Bush neck in neck, I find it hard to believe that Bush is going to win, given the outstanding and overwhelming support shown for Kerry today and the last time I saw him. Granted, I live in a city that's almost 80% Democratic, but it still made me feel optimistic.
  2. Come back with cohesive and intelligent arguments instead of oversimplified caricatures and catchphrases next time.
  3. That was going to be my reaction too when I saw the title of the thread, but the snl clip was too brilliant.

I'm going to need more incentive than some random person demaning that I click on it. :P
  5. Certainly not, but I don't have to be a Republican to care about fiscal responsibility. :P
  6. ahhh that's incredible.
  7. I can't believe anybody's buying that tax cut bullshit. Bush has not cut taxes, he simply deferred them. A tax cut is when the government has a surplus in money and gives it back to the citizens. But thanks to Bush's reckless spending, our government is facing the biggest defecit in history, and yet Bush still continues to support his "tax cuts," which, by the way, did not create more jobs, and did not boost the economy. The fact of the matter is that because of the most recklessly stupid fiscal policy in history, we're going to have higher taxes in the future REGARDLESS of who wins the election. If you're worried about higher taxes, Bush is the last person you want in office, because he's only making it worse for future generations.

  9. I'm sitting here playing my digital piano with my headphones on, and I noticed that if I hit a single note and let it decay completely, right before it goes completely silent, the note sort of breaks up and there's a really brief period where it sounds like an electric saw or something (I think it might be the simulated reverb feeding back), then for an even briefer moment you can hear the original sine wave under everything... it sounds really neat and I probably couldn't recreate it on my synth if I tried. I can only hear it with headphones and the volume turned all the way up, so I've been sitting here recording and sampling and amplifying it just because it sounds so weird and I'll probably use it in a song eventually. Just thought I'd share what I'm doing with my life at 3:30 am on a Saturday night. :P

  14. Back to the archives, Ian. :P
  15. I felt very satisfied after reading the books. I just felt exhausted after the movies. So I'm going with the books. And Gandalf is my man. :D
  16. Sort of the same reason you can't tickle yourself... just because you know how the human mind works doesn't mean you can just use that understanding to erase any mental issue you see as a problem. They have deeply embedded emotional roots, and all the logic and science in the world isn't going to erase that by itself. An outside party is needed. I'm sure you already know that, being a psychology student (and you can probably express it much more eloquently and thoroughly than I can), but sometimes you just need somebody else to drill something into your head. :P
  17. a big hole in life where the left leg used to be... :/ :bigcry:
  18. The only solution I know of is time. You can write songs too, so at least you're doing something productive with those feelings.
  19. And if you're as outraged about the blandness of commercial radio due to federal deregulation of media ownership as I am, check out the Future of Music Coalition at http://www.futureofmusic.org and specifically http://www.futureofmusic.org/mediaactivism.cfm That last page is wildly outdated, but it's still informative... I'm too lazy to find a better article. :P
  20. It's all about college radio.
