  1. Drive ins still exist? :stunned:
  2. I'll bet more people know Bright Eyes than you think. :P I saw them live too, but I wasn't really very impressed. :/
  3. I always have a band of the day, because I go through things in waves. They might last a week or they might last two hours. :P Today is Tortoise. I've listened to two of their albums today. :idea2:
  4. Not so much funny as just odd. :P
  5. Even six months is a pretty short life for a bass string. Was it a clean snap or did it start unwinding at the bridge? Because if it's the latter, and if it was the same string both times, that could be a sign that it is your bass's fault. :P
  6. I specifically try NOT to think about that sort of thing, although I have some idea of what those thoughts might be... :P
  7. The Frank Sinatra version or the Denzel Washington version? :P The original was a classic, so I already know I'm probably going to be disappointed with the remake. I might just save myself a few bucks and rent the original again instead. :P
  8. Ever been to the top of the Statue of Liberty? That was my worst experience with heights, because I had to climb up this steep rickety spiral staircase that goes up the middle of the thing all the way to the head. I was definitely crowding the inside of it as much as I could. Oddly enough I was fine the day before when I took an elevator 1,000 feet up in the air and went outside at the top of the Empire State Building. :inquisitive:
  9. Liv Tyler is a popular choice for a good reason, she might be the most beautiful person I've ever seen. :stunned: How somebody like that ever came from somebody as hideous as Steven Tyler, I'll never know.
  10. It's a perfect example of somebody letting crazy ideas for design and layout ruin any chance of a site actually being useful or interesting in any way. :P (see also: radiohead.com)
  11. I think this thread has single-handedly gotten me back into Badly Drawn Boy. Well, I guess a new album coming out helped. :dozey: And yes, it's just one guy, but he has a lot of guest musicians, and he usually only plays keyboards and guitars and such (and sings, obviously). The liner notes detail all of the guest musicians on every song.
  12. Yes, it is a FANTASTIC movie. :D
  13. Maybe they were hoping the U.S. could give them a ride up on one of the Apollo missions and it just didn't pan out. :P
  14. Has anybody here seen this? It's the first film George Lucas ever made, from 1971 I think. I'd never really heard much about it, but then I found the official website for the DVD release: http://www.thx1138movie.com/ That website is so weird, and I was just creeped out watching the trailer... I have to see it now. :stunned:
  15. Have you ever seen the video for "Today?" If I didn't know any better I'd have thought he was a woman. :P
  16. Ugh. Now I'm thinking about the time I rode in a bus for 19 straight hours. I can't fall asleep on a bus. So I got real bored real fast.
  17. I asked myself that, but I Googled it and got a whole bunch of results with almost identical articles posted, so I guess it is real. :stunned: Either that or somebody's having a really good laugh right now. :P
  18. I'm rooting for either Belle and Sebastian or Basement Jaxx, because they're the only artists on there that I would consider "above average." :P Actually, I'm going with Basement Jaxx, because Dear Catastrophe Waitress wasn't even that great of an album. That's who I think deserves it (out of the nominees), I have no clue who will actually win. Nor do I care. :P :smug:
  19. Stereolab - "La Demeure"
  20. um.... hm, this is a weird question to try to answer, and there are a couple of different directions I could go with it. :P Well, I remember discussing once with some of my guy friends who it would be that we would make out with if we had to make out with a member of the same sex. My answer was James Iha from the Smashing Pumpkins, because he's the prettiest guy I could think of. :P But that probably wouldn't be my choice if I was a girl... but I'm going with James Iha anyway.
  21. awwwww  :P
  22. I'll just post a polite "no thanks" and leave this thread alone. :P
  23. I don't really like that song too much, but I just popped in to say that I can't listen to it without thinking of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," even though they sound nothing alike. :P "Superstition" might just be the funkiest song ever recorded though. *struts out of room playing air-bass* Very superstitious... writing's on the wall......
  24. Brian Wilson - "Heroes and Villains" (live)
