  1. I still prefer The Hour of Bewilderbeast. And Eric, just for future reference Badly Drawn Boy is just one guy. :P
  2. He looks like Jesus. If Jesus was really ugly. :P
  3. Kraftwerk - "Numbers"
  4. I think when I bought it I found it under Badly Drawn Boy, but that was over two years ago, so my memory might be hazy. :P And yes, it is very good.
  5. gah! I forgot about that movie, I want to see it now.
  6. Here are a few that I've seen recently: Dogville - 9/10 - Very uncomfortable to watch, but that was intentional. It's a brutal condemnation of humanity in general, and also makes an interesting commentary about people who consider themselves to be morally "above" everybody else. Also, brilliant cinematography from Lars von Trier, as usual. :D The Day After Tomorrow - 2/10 - Does almost everything wrong. Every single character is a cliche, the dialogue couldn't be more hackneyed if it tried, almost every part of the plotline is laughably implausible, it's possibly the most predictable movie I've ever seen, and worst of all, it takes itself way too seriously. It gets a generous 2 because some of the cartoon CGI scenes of LA being destroyed were pretty cool. Fahrenheit 9/11 - 5/10 - Yes, it's only a "documentary" in the loosest sense of the term. Yes, it's propaganda. Yes, it's misleading. Yes, it's a "two hour op-ed." But it also raises a lot of good points and it certainly gives one a lot more to think about than Dodgeball. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much else. I've heard people say that it's good just because it's geting moviegoers interested in politics. But that implies that most people wouldn't be interested in the upcoming presidential election without this movie, which I think is condescending and insulting to the average moviegoer. I think people are smarter and more aware of the world than they're given credit for. So with that in mind, I can't really think of a good reason for Fahrenheit 9/11 to even exist.
  7. Black Star - "Twice Inna Lifetime"
  8. I sure as hell hope they're not the new Coldplay.
  9. Broadcast - "Accidentals"
  10. I got Jack Torrence, too. That works out, because The Shining is one of my favorite movies. :P
  11. On a sort of related note... what exactly constitutes "working out?" I mean... I play basketball a lot wth my friends, and by the time I'm done I'm drenched with sweat, and my arms and legs are sore, but I don't really say that I was working out. All right, I'll leave now. :P
  12. Boards of Canada - "Wildlife Analysis"
  13. All right... here are my thoughts (I'm being completely honest, and I'm trying to be constructive :P) "Morning Star" - Nice enough, but it doesn't really do anything for me. Doesn't really go anywhere. I've heard a thousand different versions of this song before. (Hell, I've written a thousand different versions of this song before). "(a)pathetic" - A little better to listen to, just because of the whole band. The synths and piano add some interesting texture, but the song itself has the same problem as the first. The singer doesn't really have the conviction to make that ending special. I can see what you were trying to do with it, though. Jonsi from Sigur Ros would be proud. :P All in all, though, not bad for a bunch of 17 year olds.
  14. That's weird... Because now I'm seeing the German stuff.
  15. I like pawn shops. You can find lots of neat stuff in them. :) I wouldn't ever borrow money from them, though. :P
  16. Yeah, when you release the steam, you get that sound. And about the new ones: despite the fact that I did enjoy Episode II, they just won't ever be what the first ones were, and 20 years from now, they'll probably be just a footnote. They look too cartoonish and silly. That's why I'm also kind of peeved that the only DVD release of the original trilogy will be the "special edition" versions. :dozey:
  17. 10 seconds, 47.05 getting better all the time (can't get much worse)
  18. 31.58. 15 seconds. :dozey:
  19. I got a terrible score the first time because I was trying too hard not to bump into the other cars.
  20. I have the following: War The Unforgettable Fire The Joshua Tree Achtung Baby Pop All That You Can't Leave Behind And out of those, my favorite is War, then The Joshua Tree. All That You Can't Leave Behind is awful. :P
  21. That's the thing though, there's nobody in the mainstream with that stuff like there used to be, and the Sex Pistols have been broken up for over 20 years. :P
  22. I agree, Gish is a pretty good record. :smug:
  23. http://fun.drno.de/pics/donwave.gif How about that one? :P
  24. Well, see... it's your band, so you're obviously not just trying to introduce us to new music. But you've got a point, at least you didn't just come into every thread in every forum, say "listen to my band!" and then leave forever. ;)
