  1. I think China and India are in a dead heat. They both have roughly a billion apiece.
  2. I actually spent 10 days canoeing in a wilderness preserve in Ontario awhile ago. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. :) But boy was I glad to get back to civilization again, where there's music, and sugary soft drinks, and real bathrooms.
  3. I'd go back to basic cable if I could. :P
  4. I used to have that problem, but then the cable company decided that the only service they would be offering in our area was digital cable, which has a built-in guide thingy, instead of a channel. It's also more expensive, and the only difference is that there's more channels with crap on. :dozey:
  5. If China ever becomes a "super world power," it will only be by the force of an army so massive that nobody can stop them without nuclear weapons, and I don't see that ever happening. One out of every six people in the world live in China, so they have a massive population, but they also have massive problems with poverty (and therefore they could theoretically raise an army the size of the entire US population, but would never have the money to sustain it). And they don't really have a lot of exports, they just have extremely cheap labor. If China were growing economically, it would become more expensive for companies around the rest of the world to manufacture all of their products in China, and they'd simply move their operations elsewhere, and the average person is left poor anyway. It's called "outsourcing," and it's one of the problems of global capitalism (even if China is technically a communist state, most, if not all of the companies manufacturing there are based somewhere else). It's become quite a problem for laborors here in the US in the last decade or so. :P But, contrary to how I may talk, I don't really know all that much about economics. So maybe I'm making a complete fool of myself, and China really is on the verge of superpower status. But that's my two cents anyway. :P
  6. Well... I was just talking about the lollipop incident more than your thread, but ok. :P
  7. Yeah, who cares if he's gay? He's a brilliant songwriter. :D (I actually have gay friends and stuff so I probably wouldn't mind him even if he wasn't a brilliant songwriter :P )
  8. I used to be that way, but I eventually grew out of it.
  9. I enjoy both. :D I actually did sleep on the ground once with no blanket or anything. It was easily the most uncomfortable night of my life.
  10. Well, yeah, that's sort of what I meant. And I'll be the first person to admit that Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, etc., actually ARE very talented (in fact, I often find myself in the unenviable position of defending them against indie snobs, even though I am one to some degree). But I still think that the Grammies are entirely meaningless, whereas there are other people that I know who have the attitude, "they won a Grammy, they must be the best."
  11. Wasn't that a Joan Osbourne song that just sounded like Sheryl Crow?
  12. Buh. Yeah, I need to get Firefox myself, but I'm too lazy to upgrade or what have you. :P
  13. Ok, I just had to get that sarcastic comment in there. :P
  14. Pink Floyd - "Corporal Clegg" Roger Waters' attempt at following Syd Barrett's style of songwriting. :P
  15. 210.8 kb or: 0% of quota
  16. I'm pretty sure mine is pretty close to 0 but I'll check anyway. :P
  17. I didn't really have a problem with Microsoft stuff, but once I tried Mozilla, I loved it, and I'll never use Internet Explorer again. It's so much better with pop ups, cookies, and other security stuff, and you can't beat their tabbed browsing. ;)
  18. I was wondering exactly what severe whether you were talking about on the East US coast, then I remembered a few months ago when a storm knocked over about a dozen trees in my parents' yard and damn near tore their roof off (at least most of the shingles). :stunned:
  19. Umm.... wouldn't you want to click on Page 1, not Page 201?
  20. I know I answered this before, but my answers will probably be completely different now, so: - Autechre - James Brown - Belle and Sebastian - Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Kraftwerk That's a weird list.
  21. :stunned: I love roller rinks. But I love ice rinks even more, which are probably even more dangerous. :P But I used to play ice hockey so I usually had a bit of an advantage. :P
  22. Pink Floyd - "Let There be More Light" ahhhh the early Floyd is still by far the best. :P
