U.S. debt overpowers National Debt Clock
I thought this happened a while back? Or was that the clock of some other US institution, I certainly saw something. Ah well, talks have started behind the scenes here of an Independent Republic of Violet Hill - join us, all secessionists!! :D

United States concerts and European concerts
Well I'm English and think there is tremendous soul in music from all around the world. I've enjoyed amazing performances; ancient Chinese opera, traditional South and Central American music, African chant, pygmie music from...erm...wherever pygmies come from. There is tremendous soul also of course in a lot of American music - mainly Jazz, Blues and Gospel for me, but there are many others I'm sure. And we wouldn't have rock OR pop without America. Now what was the topic? Oh yeah, crowds! Yes they do vary. The London gigs last tour were very quiet, but you'll always get a mixed crowd at a London gig for such a household name. Nevermind, this time I hope to assemble a crowd of Coldplayers to help drunken me raise the roof off the o2!! :laugh3:

WE'VE FOUND THE BAKERY!! *NOW WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF* UPDATED FIRST POST!*
Lovely Szonja, thanks so much for posting that :) Not much I can add to that, really! The sun shone all day for us, but it was very cold out of the sun, or even in it at times. I was very tired, not strong, that day, but if ever there is a gal to help you along when you find out you didn't wear enough layers in chilly autumnal England it is Szonja - so kind and thoughtful!! And that's not even mentioning that, although I've been past there many times before -right past the building - I couldn't find the way!! :D Oh well, all was good in the end, thanks to her patience with me, and we delivered a letter for a VERY special friend (someone we both carried in our hearts the entire day), had a lovely Italian-deli ciabatta (yum), and took our pics. We left the bakery and strolled up the street and easily found a bus that took us five minutes walk from the Camden flat (that we were very glad to see, just hope - but think - it was the right place!) After that to the pub round the corner that the boys drank in around the time of the earliest jams together, and after a drink outside in the sunshine, down on the bus 29 (same side of the street) to Camden and those two spots, very close together (and easily missed if deep in chat with someone nice :)) At that point I thought we were finished on our tour, and done with the map book (yes you will need it!) but Szonja reminded me that he had to come out once again for Violet Hill :( lol. Another bus from Camden, really no trouble at all, a change to the tube for one stop, and we were not far from Abbey Road. Just inside the station were two girls collecting money for the war dead in the annual poppy appeal. Szonja didn't especially remember, but it deeply struck me, that PoppyFields was meant to have been originally on the album, and still perhaps on the new EP, but luckily by then we had one apiece on out clothing and marching on to Violet Hill, past the fabled studios on the way. Well, Violet Hill looks lovely, and I hope Szonja can post the pic (if not I shall!) of the funny toilet. A shame the gardens are shut right now, will have to go in them one day :) Our tour done, it was then onto Green Park by tube. A walk up Piccadilly led us to the Circus, and after some looks round shops I convinced Szonja enough to let me take her to a Japanese restaurant, which I'm glad to say I think she enjoyed. I taught her how to use chopsticks, and five minutes later she was better than me at using them!! It was a lovely day, despite a little worry. We carried our friend in our hearts around all the spots, and the whole thing was magical, like a dream of sorts. This is as much a report about the fine people you may possibly meet here as anything else. I too could not have imagined the day without Szonja, I told her that at the time. I struggled with tiredness and cold, but would not have been anywhere else. Thank you Szonja (hope you can put up some pics!) and thanks Guy, Jonny, Will and Chris for keeping everything so close together, and making it a day's tour not a week's sightseeing :D

Coldplaying.com sends all its Love to EnglishSilk!!
Thank you all so much for the incredible messages of love and support for Karen :) Kels is so very grateful and touched, but feels her Mum might not appreciate so much fuss being made over her in public (my fault - sorry Karen, please don't kick me too hard in the groin for that!!) So, could any further messages of support please be sent to Karen by email (PM me for the address please)? Kels will be sure to print them off and take them to her, as she will all the wonderful messages already gratefully received on this thread :) Important - please don't PM Kels herself about this right now, as she already has a lot to think about. The email address I give you will get any messages through to Karen :) Thanks so much again, on behalf of Kels and Coldplaying's very own dear EnglishSilk!! :)

Many of us here at Coldplaying will know the lovely EnglishSilk (Karen). Her incredible sense of humour and love for Coldplay (and a certain Mr Martin in particular!) light up the board when she posts :sunny: Some of us will have seen her crack jokes about her illness, as she went about the all-important business of planning to get to gigs, (and how to get into Chris's hotel room!) Many people will also have seen her 'butterfly baby crib mobile project', where she requested a butterfly from every gig to make her newest grandchild a mobile. She has been incredibly touched by everyone's kindness with her project, although the loveliness of it was bound to grab attention, I'd say!! I was lucky enough to become friendly with Karen through here, and have been having tremendous laughs recently with this incredible lady. I made this thread for her because she's a bit poorly at the moment, for public messages of love and support for Karen and her family, and the response was wonderful :) I asked if anyone would like to post a picture of the lovely Chris for her, as it would be most appropriate, and the results were, as Karen might say, 'well tasty'!! Thank you all so much for the incredible messages of love and support for Karen :) Kels is so very grateful and touched, but feels her Mum might not appreciate so much fuss being made over her in public (my fault - sorry Karen, please don't kick me too hard in the groin for that!!) Spot on Kara!! I have access to a decent space of land near there, a short(ish) taxi drive away. So if this comes off there's somewhere for anyone who wants to pitch tents, play music all night (as long as it's by a certain band!!) and be merry to camp :)
