  1. I used to think that, but have been amazed how much they've embraced the whole of the new album on tour - so I live in a permanent state of hope!! :)
  2. Yeah I think I will head up, just to check out what's going on. Wish I had something Coldplay related other than CDs and butterfly confetti to wave around outside though - can't see them stopping the car on the way in to say hello to a handsome fella clutching an X&Y cover, a bit of tissue paper and a marker pen :laugh3: [bitterness]Oh damn you sexy coldplaying girls with your fancy banners, cute smiles and suggestive T-shirts. Damn you all!! :P [/bitterness]
  3. I can do my best miss Lauve :) Which bits do you want?
  4. If I do get to all three London gigs in December I'll be gutted if they don't play it (though I completely think they will make the 'debut' there! :D) On the other hand I'll be gutted if they don't play Yes once - live with the outro it's marginally the better of the two, that outro's just crazy:dance: Of course if they made one for Cemeteries (equally deserving!) I'd just be upset they didn't play both each and every single night - top tunes :beatnik:
  5. A stunning interview, thanks so much for posting Mimi :) The Japanese is hilarious, the English retorts from the boys are, of course, great. Everyone's sending everyone else - and themselves - up completely!! And incredible respect from the Japanese towards Coldplay here - they would have made a huge amount of fans with that if it was widely shown. I think that's one of the very best (lighthearted) interviews I've ever seen from the band :)
  6. Ahhhh no, Lauve, it's only a small gig for ticket winners and BBC guests (and their brothers/uncles/pets/postmen ? - where have all those tickets gone???) It's really strange Cris...but then it's a BBC compo, and we Brits understand crop circles more than we do those!! I might have a meeting of sorts tomorrow afternoon in London, and if so will head up afterwards to just hang around and see what I can - anyone else going?
  7. It's very odd indeed that not a single member here won tickets. At the BBC show in June there were at least 30 of us there (and more people here won tickets that were never used by anyone). There were about 4x the number of tickets then, so we might expect at least a handful of winners here for this one too...but nothing :/ Oh well, I just received a reply to my complaint before the last gig about the way the comp was run and people had been 'informed'. Perhaps in a month or two I'll finally get a reply to my query about this one too. BBC = 'Balls-up a Brilliant Competition' ?!?
  8. Sometimes the same instrument in different countries is called a completely different thing !!
  9. I feel your sadness my friend, not because I share your opinions about the album, but because I know that feeling from my own years past...crushing disappointment at something you looked forward to so much. And this is a message board - not the place to all think and feel the same, but to share and try to understand our differences!! Have you seen them play it live yet, though? I'd really urge you to listen, listen as much as you can and then go to see the live show. If you ever loved Coldplay there's a good chance you will fall in love with the tracks live if you haven't just from listening at home. I first saw them in 03, and Brixton and the BBC were the most incredible times since then, and Brixton certainly better!
  10. Thanks my friends, glad some of you liked that :) Coldplay changed my life in 2003, and did so again this year, I wouldn't change that for all the tea in China (or even beer in Britain, which is a closer call!). There are little disappointments of course, but for me it's like a small argument with one of your dearest loved ones - it may threaten to take the shine off a little from time to time, but that inevitably comes with having something so precious. It's not a negative - it's normal, just because some bits aren't as incredible as others!!
  11. Positives: everything! The glass is overflowing, spouting water from the top in every direction, careful where you stand or there may be injuries!! Negatives: nothing - there's not even a vacuum where that empty space should be!!
  12. Would people please be kind enough to check that they can go before entering, especially from abroad? It should go without saying, and the places will go to waste if you win and can't take up the places.
  13. Three choices? Warning Sign, Warning Sign and Warning Sign.
  14. Brilliant, many thanks for the response Dan - you've put my mind at rest completely :) One more question now, though, if the t&c's are going to be changed to open it up outside the UK, would previous entries still be valid/kept on the system? <edit> Answer received from Dan - YES
  15. I haven't heard back from them yet about my enquiry about the June gig!! :stunned:
  16. Hi Dan There's already a thread for this one, but thanks for the heads-up :) A couple of questions, hope you'll respond: 1) Are there any free samples left? The offer's still on the website, but I sent off weeks ago and never received anything. 2) Do you have to correctly answer the question about the flavour, or is it more for market research (as far as I can see there's nothing about having to be correct in the t&c's). 3) Is there any intention to use the winners heavily in future promotion and advertising for the brand in future? I saw this one '24/7 Daystretcher reserves the right to use the names and addresses of winners, their photographs and audio and/or visual recordings of them in any publicity' and especially the name and address seems unnecessary. Many thanks!
  17. I phoned up on Friday night and was told I could either phone Radio 2 (which I'd already done - they were as useful as an inflatable banana in a swordfight) or call back today during the day when somebody might be able to help me. I was going to but now I feel like even the Beeb would have been able to organise contacting all the winners by now, and it'll just be wasting more time...:\
  18. I personally think he's singing over the top of a lead vocal backing track (again). It's not actually been that obvious live the two times I saw them (unlike the 'oohs' from the other boys at the end) so I think he slipped pretty badly with the timing considering he was being filmed for TV - but who can blame him in that crazy heat and humidity (and the rest of the show looks GREAT!!) I also think it may be just the TV sound mix that makes it so obvious, and sure that if you were there you'd never notice.
  19. Very sad for city, if this is true (and that said as a Spurs fan who would really love Corluka to join). Hopefully this might warn a few more Premiership clubs that (dodgy) foreign ownership isn't always wise...
  20. Some great points there, completely agree (the opening bit apart, obviously :D) Last year was disgraceful what happened in the League, but it was all the politics at the club that led to the poor start, and things went down from there until our beloved Jol was kicked out. Spurs should always be looking to be a top seven or eight side, and after this summer's pre-season, purchases, and with this manager, I think we can shift that up a little bit to top six or seven for sure :)
  21. I doubt very much it's the whole gig Chris, as they were meant to play for an hour, but put in an extra thirty minutes. Japanese TV runs to time just as much as the trains, and they sure won't delay other programmes to accommodate, alas...<edit> but there may be a repeat of course!! :) Anyway, really looking forward to the answer you get, could someone please message me when we know if I don't post again soon after on this thread? I'd so hate to miss that...Thanks so much :)
  22. A very good result today, highly encouraging, beating the Italian cup holders and league runners up Roma 5-0 at the Lane :) It was only a friendly, and means absolutely nothing for the forthcoming season, but as I said, it's highly encouraging, and for a number of reasons. I didn't see the first half (it took me till the second half to realise someone was streaming it on the web for free) and you could say Roma were tired and not as motivated as we are, but it's like saying would Chelsea be happy losing by that margin to a foreign side who placed mid-table next season. No they would not! An excellent performance from Bentley and two goals on his home debut. Bent continued to impress (Robbie who? :laugh3:) with his twelfth in the last six games (I think). Dos Santos was lively, Jenas looked much more solid and comfortable in the new beefed-up midfield, and Lennon was impressive from the bench, with license to roam from wing to wing and giving the defenders on both flanks a torrid time. Roma had one sent off in pure frustration at Spurs' display, and Lennon's cameo in particular, and another would have gone if this was a competitive fixture of any kind. Didn't see Modric play but he must have played his part in this stuffing. It was also nice to see Assou Ekotto play for once, and he looked solid, as did Gomes in goal. Bale returned well from his season-ending injury of last term, Gunther looked sharp, and even china Ledley had a run-out. It looks like Corluka's coming in (great defender!) as well as one or two more (Arshavin plus Silva or Villa?) depending on whether Berba does make the move or not (and personally I hope he goes, great player that he is) so we'll have a very good, but radically different squad for the new season, looking very promising indeed for the future, but probably needing time to gel this year. After today, though, I'm confident for the first time we have a great chance to qualify for Europe via the league :) In Juande we trust!! :D
  23. Thanks very much for posting that Miha :) Wow, Chris was really going crazy with the Japanese :laugh3: Ouch, terrible singing/miming from Chris over the backing vocal track at the end of VLV, but everything else was great. It must have been a punishing gig in that heat and humidity, but at least he had one of the free fans they give away outside shops
  24. As there's no official English title for the song, there's no perfect translation into English. Both Deb's version and mine are possible literal translations, but the one I like best is actually on Wikipedia, the poetic translation 'A Flower Unlike Any Other in the World'. What a lovely song - thank you Chris! :)
