What song do you wish had a video?
I get you!! 'Politics' has been done now, enough. We need something else...any ideas? I'd love to start making some fan-made vids for oh so many of the guys' back catalogue...

Courtney Loves Spills About Chris and Gwyn's homelife
Absolutely! Really interesting for us to read (and thanks for posting Mimi!) but she doesn't look good at all. Poor girl - Courtney's long been someone who needed a very true friend who will sort her out...I really wish she can find that person someday soon (and here's hoping :))

Going to a Coldplay concert VERY heavily pregnant?
Thanks so much for your story, EnglsihSilk, and what an incredible memory it is!! I'm glad I posted this thread, if only so that many others can read such a truly sweet, delicious and delightful recollection :) It's great that people around your daughter were so considerate and kind, but at the same time (and thinking about our position rather than yours) isn't it rather selfish of this person I'm going with to insist on attending even though she will be due virtually the day of the gig? It's nice if people are kind, but isn't it a bit much to push (pardon the pun!) your own situation on others who've paid a lot of money for a gig that they most probably expect to be able to jump around, drink as much as they want, and be merry at? :\ And what about the people she's going with (me and a friend) - I'd really like to know if people think it's reasonable and normal to brush aside our huge concerns with just an 'it'll be ok'? (I know this is probably largely an intersection of different characters here: she's happy-go-lucky, and I think and worry about things deeply even months in advance. So who should give in to the other's feelings here I wonder?) Thanks again Chavi, but arranging something so late (inside the gig) isn't an option for me. While it's probably going to be possible to sort something out, I won't sleep for days myself worrying, and if it doesn't work out then just imagine... Arigatou ('thanks' in Japanese!) for that Lauve, you're very positive and lateral-thinking, and have made me reconsider again. But, the thing is, I'm going to feel responsible and nervous from now until the gig - the girl who is pregnant is very much my responsibility in life. I have given her much (not that that matters to me), but she won't even consider my concerns on this - she's just determined to go. Of course I don't want to ruin her night, and would love her join us there, I'm just so worried. I think I've already decided what I might do when the time comes, but if anyone else has any further advice I'd love to hear it...

Hello!
A huge, warm welcome to the forum, Tinttis! :) Your English is really good, don't worry!! How is Finland this summer (England is rainy unfortunately!)?

10-Sep-2008: Bercy, Paris - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos
Kash, if you can give me two days to get this sorted I might be able to swap two tickets for the O2 in December for your two tickets. The priceless part of the deal for you would be, these two tickets include a free raving-mad-dancing-singing-at-the-top-of-his-voice Pedro stood right next to you!! :laugh3: And if you don't need two, maybe Kara can have the other and sell her ticket alone, and it'll be BBC and Brixton (and IOW!) part two...?? If this appeals, I'll need a day or two to try and sort this out, as i say...

Going to a Coldplay concert VERY heavily pregnant?
Thanks a lot for the comments guys, it gives me even more to think about... I've seen plenty of heavily pregnant ladies down the years at various gigs - including one or two who looked like it could be twins, triplets or even more (!!) I've always thought 'that's cool' and been very careful not to dance near them etc, but now that somebody I'm going to the gig with may be pregnant, and will be due any day at the time of the gig, I'm really not sure... I don't know if it's a risk they should be taking. I don't know if it's a risk I should be partly responsible for. I know I won't personally enjoy the gig as I'll just be too worried throughout (even if she is happy and relaxed, unfortunately I won't be able to be so myself). Chavi the gig sold out immediately, the seats are allocated and being able to change seats on the day is far from guaranteed. Chris very good advice thanks, but the seats are right in the middle of a block, security won't be able to keep an eye on her (it'll be down to me :( and her fellow). Lauve thank you so much, you make some excellent points too (and very thoughtful :)) Unfortunately, though I know many people at a Coldplay gig will be among the very best sort of people around, as it's London, the O2, and Coldplay (who now attract every kind of person from society to their gigs here) I can't assume that everyone will be thoughtful and careful around her...and there are certain to be many drunk people and probably some people using drugs...:(

Going to a Coldplay concert VERY heavily pregnant?
Does anyone have any advice or a considered point of view on someone who is heavily pregnant going along to a Coldplay gig? I've often seen such ladies at concerts, even festivals like Glastonbury, but until now it's not something I've had to consider as something that might affect me one day.

Bump for an amazing thread that changed my life :)

Which songs on Viva (the album) are as long as you want them to be?
Thanks a lot for your comments guys, all very interesting for me :) I've thought about this a bit more, and I have to add Reign of Love, Chinese Sleep Chant and Lovers in Japan to my list of those that feel like fully-realised songs for me - so that is almost half the album now! I do still crave extended versions of the others, and probably always will. 42 feels, always, far too short, but it's just such a perfect moment of music I could never change it. The rest of the tracks, though, are heart-breakingly short. I crave that official release of an extended Yes and CoL with a crazy jam at the end (which we'll never get :(), and will probably have to remix Death myself to add an extra switch back and forth to/from the head-bopping Status Quo-esque part if no-one beats me to it...

General Chat: Setlist
They didn't play The Escapist - it was just played on CD (??) through the sound system at the end of the gig. And there WILL be one or two minor changes throughout the length of the tour. Politik, for example, will surely enter somewhere. And the band have said they'll also make slight changes depending on the country and place they're playing in.

Thank you so kindly LoveToday, you have been a star :)

The Goldrush
Yep exactly (though I think our RedGirl meant DID and not DIDN'T :)) The Goldrush = Death Will Never Conquer Me, and the 'free song' Chris talked about (or the song 'with a twist') giving away to the fans as an exclusive present to folk who go to see the band live is, in actual fact, the beauty of Will's (absolutely stunning) version rather than Chris's (slightly less stunning...:/) effort :)

Hehe Chris must be one of the most very insincere Englishmen of all time...you can hear it in his voice...ah well we know he's (knowingly!) insincere at every gig they play...and we love them all the more for it!! but great screams LoveToday - awesome!! :)

He was pretty good at Brixton I thought! The visuals not my thing, but the music was very much so in places. Everyone's different I guess, but I was sickened by the people who couldn't even manage a cursory clap for his efforts at the gig - artists are deeply sensitive people, and if nothing else people should stop and think for a minute about how highly Coldplay rate him, and how much of a positive impact he had on the incredible new album he played a good part in delivering to us. And the guys who booed him at the end - don't get me started. Grrr. Lauve (to answer your original question) he doesn't play any part in the main set I don't think - all his bits are played on a backing track for Coldplay's actual performance.

Oh yes, absolutely, the acoustics and other things didn't work out well, so they had to switch things round - thanks a lot for reminding of that Jenjie (or rather, pointing out what I'd missed completely the first few times I read it hehe) :) A man can only dream and hope, and that's exactly what I'm doing - that they'll ditch SoS for Politik or any one of many other real classics (though Politik MUST be in the set and quick-smart!) I know I'm being selfish, but I don't think there's any room within an 18 song set for SoS when Clocks and Viva do the same thing just sooo much better (ihmo ). The fact it was a late addition gives me great hope! :)

Me too - fantastic news Pallavi!! :) I'm going to see them in London twice in December, and so hope to hear it at least once. Would also love to hear CSC and SS again (and DAAHF for the first time live).

The set will change (perhaps 'evolve' is a better word for it, as it'll be slow) and songs will be dropped and others picked up throughout the tour. Politik MUST make its way back at some point, and we've already heard they've rehearsed What If for the tour, and Chris said Warning Sign would be back (though that might have changed), so...watch this space! My guess is that they've rehearsed and got comfortable with all the new tracks (and of course they're much fresher in the memory) so they'll start with this kind of set and make small adjustments all the way along'. Then of course they've also said they'll tailor the set to where they're playing - perhaps the countries they got biggest in first can hope for one or two of the older tracks?? (Here's hoping!) But at the same time, I really envy this setlist, and would so love to hear something like it one day - almost the whole of the new album all in one night!! :)

Cool! At Brixton and the BBC the band played the main instruments over a backing of the rest of the track, and the vocals at the end were as obviously 'boosted' as the pre-recorded vocals at the end of Viva. Really nice to hear they've gone even more live since (although as I say it's not a huge problem for me) :) Oh I'm so sorry to read this - I just found your comment now. I really feel for you. If venting or even just talking through what happened would help to get it off your mind a bit then please do feel free. Otherwise you are due a really great time at the next Coldplay gig that you can get to in the grand cosmic scheme of things, you know that??!! :)

Wasn't there a bit more than that though, with LiT largely a backing track (including obvious vocals at the end?) and then The Escapist (which has been included on many lists as part of the set) purely a played back recording? It may have changed, and I thought it would do a bit, but that was exactly how it was at Brixton and the BBC. It's only a small niggle for me really, and hope my comment isn't perceived as too critical, it's just an interesting point to talk about as far as I'm concerned. And let me just say, once again, that the Brixton gig was one of the very best performances I've ever seen from the band, so it's a small price to pay. The new songs were sublime (as they were at the BBC) and really powerful live. And most importantly the reaction to this gig - even where the backing's been made quite a big point of - has been fantastic, which makes me indescribably happy :)

I agree, 17+ is a fair effort, it's just not spectacular, and to leave out a song like Politik is pretty disappointing, to say the least. I don't think Coldplay will ever play a two hour set - and as you say, with each new album more and more of the old ones will have to be dropped.
