  1. yeah, the garage door doesn't cover the mailslot, but the mailslot itself had a cover over it when i was there. at the very least, it didn't look like it does in blissfullymuse's photo, and it *looked* blocked, but i also didn't check. here's a picture i took when i was there (big under the spoiler so you can see what i'm talking about....look to the left of the garage door, and there's the potentially blocked mailslot and the number 4a...hard to see in this pic, but when you zoom in, to me it looks like there's something nailed over the slot) that is a good point. someone that's been there probably left something in there when it looked like that, since they've been away for so long. it's just that it didn't look possible to put anything in it when i was there, so that's why i worry :P i feel like perhaps testing the bakery address myself this weekend or something. then again, it would probably be useless considering i almost definitely wouldn't get a reply, and even if i did, it wouldn't be in time.
  2. figures that everything's designer and expensive, but I WANT THOSE BOOTS AND THAT TRENCHCOAT! :wideeyed:
  3. well, that picture of the mailslot is perfect! i've figured out a new problem, though: when i was there, that whole glass door was covered by a garage door, and the mailslot (which i now recall seeing after being reminded of its location) was boarded up. of course, at the time the guys weren't even in the country (in fact, they were playing my homestate of CT ), but i'm wondering if the guys or someone ACTUALLY need to BE IN the building for the mailslot to be available to use. it seems as though in all other photos i've seen of the bakery besides blissfullymuse's, it's been closed up. this worries me a bit. on the bright side, i just zoomed in on a bakery photo of mine, and THERE'S A HOUSE NUMBER ON THE BUILDING. it's 4a
  4. :freak: maybe i'm a moron and other pictures have shown this, but... IS THIS THE FIRST TIME THAT THAT GLASS DOOR HAS BEEN VISIBLE?! i swear that in every other picture i've seen, a drop-down, garage-style door has completely covered it so it looked like there was no possible enterance from that side. like i say, maybe other pictures have shown this and i just haven't noticed, but up until seeing this picture, i thought the front door was around the other side of the building behind the locked gate.
  5. those people at the bistro didn't seem too smart! "these dudes are always wandering around with guitars..."
  6. good point. i just don't think we should *expect* help, or rely on it unless it's offered. asking can't hurt, definitely, but i'm just not that optimistic about them going out of their way for us when they have jobs to do and do so much already, that's all :D
  7. not to play a broken record, but don't you guys think it would be a bit more cool (and polite, for lack of a better word) if we could pull this off ourselves? and if she really thinks its a better idea to have someone meet the coldplayer to pick them up, she could suggest that herself. otherwise, i think we should say self-sufficient, but tell me to shut up if you all think that's stupid.
  8. yes, i'm terrified that it's not a mailslot or something, or that it goes with some other building than the bakery :uhoh:. i want that to be the solution to all of this SO BADLY! i said in the draft that if she couldn't give us a better address than the EMI one, we plan to send them to a coldplayer who will drop them off in person. the EMI plan then becomes our plan B.
  9. yay! i think it would be so nice if it was a surprise. so, we're supposed to tell her that we plan to drop off the load of cards at the bakery's postbox? or should we hold off saying that until she's given us a better address or not?
  10. hmm. i think that might be pushing it, but that's just me. i really think that we should be as self-reliant as possible, in the nature of safety and in the nature of being particularly awesome fans :D i'm working on a draft of the email to debs, and i have a question: do we, in fact, want debs to tell the guys about our plan? obviously we're letting debs know, but do we think that it would be even MORE special if the band didn't know about it at all until debs told them one day to go look in their mailbox? i think it would be a really cute surprise, but maybe that's a crap idea. just wondering how i should phrase things in the email draft.
  11. for right now, this is what i'm thinking the plans should be. PLAN A) mail all postcards to RedGirl76's future PO box by a certain date. she will then drop off the [hundreds] of cards on a predetermined date to the postbox (which we assume exists) at the bakery, and voila in the event that a postbox at the bakery which would protect the cards from the elements doesn't exist... PLAN B) mail all postcards to either the EMI address (which works), or any possible address that debs gives us. it's less cool than getting them all at one time, but it's safe and ensures delivery, which is the key. personally, i don't *really* think the "drop them off at a gig" plan should even really be on the table, but that's just me. i just think it's WAY too easy to mess up and have all our efforts go to waste. it also requires our trust in a middleman, which i don't think is wise (or as cool). EDIT: dude, somewhere in this thread, i broke 5000 posts :P
  12. aww, i wish these had been taken at the NY end rather than the london one, because i'll bet my AROBTTH vinyl that the woman leading gwyneth and the olsens at the NY end was the same PA that i had this summer  :P
  13. ooooh, thanks redgirl!! :D that's fabulous. i think PO box is the way to go, since this really will be hundreds of cards, no doubt :D (oooh, i love thinking of how many it will be!) just for the record, i still don't like the idea of passing off the cards at a concert. not only can that get really iffy in terms of planning, but it's also relying on other people. i think we should be as self-sufficient as possible and not put our burden on anyone else, since this is FOR them. i think the entire project will be even MORE impressive to the guys if we do it entirely on our own, only relying on each other and the international postal service. in terms of making the cards, i plan to make ones in photoshop. actually, one of them i have already made, i think: it was one of my sigs ages ago. i can't really find connecticut postcards easily, so i'll be making both of mine. i just have a hard time thinking of what exactly to WRITE on it--i don't want it to be cliche and mushy. both of which i'm good at doing. and it's already been said, but i (and everyone else that's been integral in planning) PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE that once things are decided, you'll DEFINITELY know! :D believe me, i'm very big on clearly presenting information, and i've been adding to a MSword document with all the tentative rules and guidelines that i'll keep editing and will post in its own thread once things are officially decided. so, just be patient and don't worry
  14. of course you can use it; we're all just putting out ideas anyway :D and that english is fine!
  15. very good point; i was thinking a bit about this too. as much as i'd be willing to do it if i was over there, i wouldn't give out my home address online. i love the idea of a temporary PO box and a fund to help get it set up! or perhaps the person will have a viable business address or something too...we'll have to see (did redgirl76 tentatively volunteer, or am i making that up?) i think we'll have more answers by next week at any rate.
  16. ^ooh! i love it!! i love that it's hand-drawn :nice: i made two rought drafts of potential ones today while procrastinating...finally worked out how to do the circles :P they still need technical tweaking, and the background colors don't mean anything. but there you go :P
  17. last night at 2:15 AM, my roommate and i were sleeping soundly. because i'm the lightest sleeper in the world, i woke up a bit when i heard our door open and close, figuring it was just my roommate coming back from the bathroom or something. but after a second she starts saying "chelsea? CHELSEA?!" i was like "WHAT?" she asked: "who are you?" i thought this was a ridiculous question. "umm, i'm CHELSEA, i LIVE here." she didn't say anything else. but then there was a new voice added to the mix: "sarah?" i whirled around in bed to see a girl, standing over my roommate's bed and staring at her, poking her. my roommate's name isn't sarah, so this was especially weird. "what the fuck do you WANT?" my roommate asked. the girl didn't say anything. i was beginning to realize that she was either really drunk or sleepwalking, and it was a tuesday night, so i figured she wasn't drunk. i told her i thought she had the wrong room, and after a minute of standing silently stock-still, she left the room and slammed the door. at the time it was quite creepy to find someone you don't know in your bedroom while you're sleeping, but in retrospect it was hilarious. i can't stop laughing about it.
  18. i'm being SUCH a procrastinator :bigcry: well, i'm stopping now. this is what i've come up with so far, but i still need to figure out how to get the circly thing on there where it would say PCFFAP and coldplaying. that's for later. two varieties and what i based them on:
  19. this weekend, i plan to *try* to create a potential logo (maybe with semy's help) based on this format: i was thinking a butterfly or the red and black VIVA stripe logo in the middleof the square stamp, and then instead of whatever it says around the edges of the circle, have it say "POSTCARDS FROM FAR AWAY PROJECT" and then maybe "COLDPLAYING.COM" in the center. who knows if i can even pull that off, though, with my limited photoshop skills :P
  20. in some ways i want it to just be coldplaying, but i have to say the more the merrier. i don't think the band will really care exactly what site the postcard-writers come from; i think they'll be even more impressed if its a bigger number. lore and i are sending the email to debs this weekend, promise :D as far as the template goes, the agreement (so far) seems to be that the template is optional, because at least i think that originality is key in this project. however, every postcard will have the same logo on it, which will make them all obviously from the same project. there's a logo in the first post so far, but i think we're hoping to get a couple more that we can vote on. i personally don't remember seeing a mailbox/slot when semy and i were there, but i trust lori, and kimchi is going on friday to scope it all out for us. we'll have a definite yes or no on the mailslot this weekend! agreed. i think lore was going to create these threads once we have more finalized details. right now, this seems to be the thread for debate. once things are more officially decided, it'll be more organized, including polls on voting for certain aspects of the project :D
  21. if we were doing this NEXT year as opposed to this one, i would TOTALLY do this, since i'll be living there :bigcry: :P hopefully we'll get official confirmation and photo evidence of this mailbox later in the week, and then it comes to finding the person to mail everything to. i would imagine that we'd put our one or two postcards into an envelope addressed to the coldplayer, who would open the envelopes and take out the postcards, putting them in a box or something to wait to bring to the bakery at a predetermined date. that's just what i assume, though. this way, we'll have an exact number of how many are delivered! i like that :D. i just hope this way works out.
  22. my favorite chris hair is the hair he had from june 2008 up until he cut it last month, whenever that was. i LOVE the hair in kackie's sig above :D the today show was ultimate hair perfection.
  23. a coldplayer texted another coldplayer today from london saying she put something in a mailslot at the bakery! we think the odds are good :D we also think that a coldplayer or two are going to go to the bakery in the coming week for a visit, so i've already PMed him asking to look especially hard for a mailslot. if there's one available...then our problems really are solved! :D
  24. pokemon AND coldplay? count me in! :P on the bathroom mirror in my dorm, every week the RA asks a new question and we all have to answer using a dry-erase marker. this week, the question is "what can you absolutely not live without?" in addition to writing "macaroni and cheese" and "pringles." i wrote "COLDPLAY!" :D
  25. :cheesy: this is AMAZING :stunned:
