Coldplay Jukebox Virgin Radio June 8th: COUNTDOWN COMPLETE
oooh, completely random question that i should have asked hours ago: when ben was putting on "don't panic," did anyone else hear the random chris line over the guitar where he says something to the effect of "someone once told me that i really smell terrible"? i laughed out loud when i heard that...tell me i'm not the only one that heard it? i also wonder if that was intentional on ben's part...there was nothing else completely random like that, especially not WITHIN the songs, which makes me wonder if it was a mistake! :D

MusicOHM.com Review - Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends (Parlophone)
gotta love how none of the other bandmembers names are mentioned, or hardly even their work. ugh. this is the album where guy, will, and jonny make their comeback, as chris said, so i just wish the media would see that for god's sake. that said, it's not too bad! then again, it bothers me that most reviewers have to balance their reviews that are less than 4 stars so that the put-downs and compliments are about equal so you don't know really where they stand. i'm waiting for rolling stone's review, i guess. then i'll have a better idea of whether to say "screw the critics" or "hmm, perhaps they have a tiny bit of a point."

Right. Who IS that talking at the beginning of Strawberry?! (Mystery solved)
*ahem* argument aside for just one moment: [oh my goodness, you have no idea how much i just laughed at that. NO idea.] right. *puts on :smartass: face* i'm going to think up some really fancy american lingo that you can't possibly understand in order to get my point across. just you wait :smug: oof, i need to go to bed too. this is why i don't intentionally spam. ian would have kicked me out by now!

THANK YOU MO!!!!!!! *downloading*

I can't take it anymore...
in all seriousness, i agree. the student-y street clothes suited them better and put all the attention on the music. it worked beautifully then, and it should still work beautifully now. i got a bit iffy when they did the all-black thing, but the matching uniforms really takes the cake for the "what the hell? coldplay?!" reaction in my book. at the same time, someone in this thread (i can't remember who right now), said that it's very hard to imagine the guys singing a song like "viva la vida" in the old jeans and hoodies and "BEST DAMN SAWMILLERS IN THE COUNTRY" t-shirts. it almost doesn't fit. in my opinion, the clothes fit the music. and while i LOVE the music, i do wonder what formerly-basic-and-simple bands making music that almost requires costumes means. whiiiiiich relates back to a particularly stimulating conversation i had last night...anyway. that all said, i a) think the jackets are very cool-looking but b) i miss the simplicity of the parachutes/AROBTTH era. (BTW, if you look behind jonny in the recent canadian "hour" interview when he's telling his "best story ever," you can see an entire rack of military-esque jackets. hoepfully that means they have a lot of duplicates and don't smell too too bad...we all know how chris wore the same pants for like 4 years!)

Right. Who IS that talking at the beginning of Strawberry?! (Mystery solved)
hmm, then why are you LOSING? (:D) now that you know what a 2X4 is, i'm not afraid to use it... (...to build a "IT'S CHRIS, YOU CHUCKLEHEADS" clubhouse, of course. i'm not violent :P)

Right. Who IS that talking at the beginning of Strawberry?! (Mystery solved)

Right. Who IS that talking at the beginning of Strawberry?! (Mystery solved)
ok. i'll be the first to spam this up with MY side of it :sneaky: IT'S CHRISTOPHER ANTHONY JOHN MARTIN SAYING "IT'S A BIT FLAT," YOU FOOLS.:lol::lol: no, but really. how can you POSSIBLY think that's guy?? and might i add that this thread is copyrighted, sparked by a particularly heated semy/chelsea debate :P

XFM X-Posure Album Playback
oof, now that ben jones starts at 9 rather than 7PM GMT, i wonder if it'll run into the XFM playback? i think we need to have someone recording each...well, then again, it looks like XFM will post theirs...and because coldplay will BE ANSWERING MY QUESTION AND MOST LIKELY SAYING MY NAME (*squee*), my ear's on ben jones :P

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
strawberry swing. i see this being quite a long love-affair...

Best Opening Track?
hmm, this is actually really hard. the only one i know i'm NOT voting for is politik, which i've never been too big on. i'm thinking either LIT or don't panic. square one is also amazing, but i feel opening two different albums on similar notes didn't really do the job for me.

Coldplay live At Paradiso videos Up On Youtube (Chris voice seems a bit shakey still)
thanks for the videos, guys! i was particularly interested in seeing that GUY'S the one that did those low backing vocals on chinese sleep chant, not jonny! i never could really "find" guy's voice before enough to know what it sounded like, but i've got it now! i also think its pretty cool that the piano's main keys are black, but the other ones, the sharp and flat notes (i forget what they're called :\) are white. never really seen one like that before!

What's So Great About Coldplay, Anyway?
for me it was may 2006. i was vaguely aware of coldplay because my mom liked them, you couldn't have escaped "clocks" and "in my place" everywhere you went in 2003, and i'd seen a couple of their videos like "don't panic," "yellow" and "clocks." i thought they were interesting, but in 2003 i just didn't have the time to bother with them. in 2005 one of my friends was really excited about the new coldplay single, so one day when i was walking through the TV room at home and i saw the words "coldplay, speed of sound, X&Y" in the bottom corner of the screen, i sat down to watch. and there was something about that video (the music, the colors, the crazy dancing), that sucked me in and i was converted by the time it was over. and my love for them just picked up speed the more and more i heard the music and heard about them. but really, i wasn't a HUGELY obsessed freak until i joined here in early 2006 :P

WE'VE FOUND THE BAKERY!! *NOW WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF* UPDATED FIRST POST!*
eeesh, well this got a bit creepy. while i must admit that the search for the bakery was fun and pretty harmless...i wholeheartedly agree with jenjie. also, just to reiterate what jamie said in the first post: i think if anyone's going to go and "visit" the bakery, like i plan to in august, the most that we should do is take a photo of the outside from the sidewalk and say "wow, this is where coldplay recorded VLVOD." anything else is just an infringement of privacy, in my opinion, and i'd really like to stay on the "fan" side of the line between "diehard fan" and "obsessed stalker" ;). i think the absolute most anyone should do is leave a nice note, but i'm questioning even that the more i think about it. anyway, that's my two cents :D

Coldplay Jukebox Virgin Radio June 8th: COUNTDOWN COMPLETE
haha, i was listening to this while doing maual labor around the house, though i couldnt be on coldplaying. i heard you, jenjie! :D i remember i was thinking, "hmm, i wonder if any of these callers were coldplayers?" and then i came here a few minutes ago and read that ian said you were on and went "DUH!!!" who's as pumped for tomorrow as i am? (i bet mich is ;))

Coldplay on Virgin Radio UK June9th 2008
sooooooooo excited for this tomorrow!! i think i'll probably faint when they come to my question, so i've heard that at least one person is planning to record it :D question, though: even though the interview is pre-recorded, do you think they'll show the webcam with coldplay there on the virgin site?

Coldplay Quotes
this is the lawn mower one i was talking about, from Q: "i have my cereal. and i have my lawnmower. that's very normal, even though not many people have cereal on their lawn mower."

Weirdest demands of pop stars revealed
ahh, what nice boys coldplay are! i remember seeing their rider from the AROBTTH tour, and there really was nothing extreme on there like all this stuff. and the postcard thing is nice and WAY easier than all the rest of that crap! :laugh4:

Will Coldplay be on Rolling Stone b4 the album?
yeah, rolling stone is bi-monthly. i just got the guitar one in the mail last week, so the next should be coming up in the next two weeks. i highly doubt they're going to be on the cover for at least another month (RS likes to wait until a bit after the release to slap the artist on the cover--last time, X&Y was out in erly june but coldplay wasn't on the cover until late august), but the next issue will DEFINTIELY have the VLVOD review in it, and since it's almost definitely going to be the lead review, there'll be an artwork of the band as well. if i'm still in the country when it comes around, i'll definitely scan it!
