CD Cases!!
I've broken sooo many cases trying to get the damn things open. do they really have to make it that hard to get them out?? though i think its worse with DVDs when they put those freaking stickers on all three sides! but what annoys me more is when you even softly drop a CD case and part of it shatters or snaps off so it cant ever open again the right way without the whole cover coming off. i like those cardboard CD cases sooo much better.

what the..............
nope, the video was taken yesterday when gwyneth was released from the hospital. i saw it on ET, and it was definitely recent. it was outside mt. sinai hospital in NYC, it was winter, and chris had a ful beard like in recent pics. the vid isnt online, though, at not in any of the places it should be, or a google search. i looked for it to see if i could post it here, but no luck. for anyone that missed it, basically chris and gwyneth were leaving hospital yesterday and trying to get into a big black SUV, and all these photographers were shoving cameras in gwyneth's face even though she looked pretty tired and still a bit wonky from whatever her ailment was. so chris (wearing a trademark black hood and carrying all of gwyneth's bags ) tells the paps to "f*ck off" and when they dont he takes one by the shoulder and THROWS him to the ground while screaming at him (it looked like he was debating whether or not to punch him because his fist came pretty close to the dude's face), and then he steals his camera. then in a cut, he's seen standing next to the car screaming "HAVE SOME RESPECT!" even though its a bit...shocking to see chris physically jumping some guy and nearly punching him, i think this was 100% justified. gwyneth was obviously sick or not herself or something, but these guys were being obnoxious and wouldnt leave them alone. i cant imagine what it would be like to be surrounded every freaking second you stepped outside, especically when you've just gotten out of hospital and arent well. i would have snapped too if it was my wife's (husband's...) well-being. so i say good for chris, but just try to keep it in check. we cant have anymore smashed windsheilds (like in austrailia that time) and police records!

Corporate sponsorship of music albums
i wish they could just pull a radiohead and be done with it. but since they have the 5-album contract, i think what i would try to do is say to EMI "hey, we'll release this album with you guys ONLY if its not corporately sponsored." i think there might be a tiny chance (chance) that EMI might listen to that because of all the money EMI stands to lose if they withhold it (which would be WAY more money lost than if they just didnt have sponsorship), like they did when X&Y was delayed. then i think they should put out an outtakes or "best of" album, which probably wouldnt require too much time on their part, release that in like 2009, and then be done with evil EMI. i think this is what most bands should do--pearl jam did a very similar thing a few years ago and now theyre free of their old label much faster and much more painlessly then they would be if they just sat on their work and didnt release anything. i think compromising is probably more proactive and painless than flat-out refusing to do anything, because that would probably prolong their time with EMI, which is the last thing anyone wants, i think. and i think that EMI would be more likely to listen to their request of no corporate sponsorship if they promise to release it, which still means lots of dollar-signs to them, as opposed to none if they withhold the album. guy hands sounds like such a jerk that he would just dig in his heels just as much as all the bands that go on strike. that's just what i think, and really, what do i know? but i do know that it's worked with similar situations in the past.

Happy 10th anniversary Coldplay!

Gwyneth...
i doubt she would be looking that allegedly terrible if she was pregnant. i doubt we'll ever really find out what it was, but as long as she's home and alright, i think that's fine.

Gwyneth...
:stunned: really?! i guess he's been known to do that sort of thing before, and of course its totally deserved, but i didnt hear anything about this, and i figured the press would make a huge deal out of it. ohhh, maybe its that old one? poor gwyneth. i really hope she's alright. but if she's been released, then i suppose its not too bad...

News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
^thanks so much for all this information, mo. it saves me such time coming the nets! and i just voted in that poll...i was thinking about starting one in the lounge (if no one else has already; i havent checked yet!) well, i figure most of the answers in the poll would be a loud NO to corporate sponsorship, but i'm more interested in the debates behind it all.

Corporate sponsorship of music albums
i ranted like crazy in the "Coldplay on Strike!" thread last night, but i think this is just RIDICULOUS. and i think coldplay would rather leave than have ads all over their album and their concerts. what's next, audio commercials between tracks that you can't skip over??

News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
well, i think they'll still create it, but i wonder more and more if the music will stop for everyday people like me who rely on the record companies or the internet to get it to me. if the business implodes, i think there probably will be music that's withheld and a drop in music releases if only because there needs to be time to think of the best way to get it out now that the record companies are in the toilet. i think it would make its comeback, definitely! but it just seems like an almost...unnatural, artificial progression in the world of music. it's not letting it evolve as it would have, having a jarring event let the outcome change a bit. i think i need to stop talking because i'm beginning to not make sense to myself. my protests are getting weaker. goodnight!

News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
and i honestly hope that the *poo* hitting the fan tomorrow means that coldplay's going to talk to us soon, through prospekt or whatever. (back to me talking about coldplay, not the fate of music as we know it :D).

News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
i hardly know anything about him, but ive decided that i strongly dislike guy hands. how can he even think that the idea will be accepted by the vast majority of artists?! he's a moron. i must say that even if coldplay got a sponsor, i'd be disgusted, but i'd still get the album, and i'd still probably like them as people. but i don't think we have much to worry about from them, like tracie said. they'd rather quit putting out music than sell out like that, i think. i mean, they don't even give their music to commericals. i dont think they'd go the other way and give commercials to their music. but i'm just angry about the way the tide of the music business is turning. maybe i'm naive, but the record companies didnt really seem to be all that big and bad just a few years ago. what happened? i know they got bought out and all that, but christ. now the industry is down the tubes. i'm fine with the traditional way of releasing music fading into something new (like all artists pulling a radiohead or going indie), but i'm NOT fine with that if it means the music stops, even if it's only for a couple years. i'm not talking just coldplay here. big business has infiltrated the art world, and big business and music are oil and water, or they should be, i think. whatever happened to record execs that WERE creative types? the business needs to regress to where (i think...) it used to be, or it's going to sink. maybe it should sink, but the music should never STOP, like it's threatening to. ok, this is getting long and ranty, but i just pulled the possibility of corporate sponsorship on one of my friends that doesnt have a current vested interest in the matter (like we/i do with coldplay), and she made some interesting points. she says as long as it doesnt affect the music, like as long as there arent commercials imbedded between tracks that you can't skip over, she doesnt really care. i mentioned that sponsorship would totally undermine the art and what art IS, and she said that art has been sponsored for hundreds of years, starting way back in the renaissance. and she's right, it has. but when it was sponsored by the medici family and whatever, it seemed to be because they actually CARED about the art, not because they knew the artist was big and putting their name on it would be monetarily beneficial to them. because i highly doubt that sudafed and nike and samsung will REALLY care about what theyre putting their names on, as long as its big and popular and respected. and to me, that's violating art.

News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
SPONSORS?! that's just disgusting. the music industry has survived and survived FINE (with only minor blips like this one) without SPONSORS. my god, that just makes me angry  and frankly it makes me MORE angry because i know that the artists TOTALLY arent going to go for that and will make the strike (or whatever the PC term is for it, but it really IS a strike) more likely to happen. if i were them and EMI suggested frigging sponsors i'd just stand up and leave. sponsorship, or at least public sponsorship, has always kind of rubbed me the wrong way anyway, but if it happens for ALBUMS and ARTISTS, i may blow my top. i mean, come ON. what a RIDICULOUS idea. sponsorship seems to defy what art and what music is about. its bad enough when its the other way round, with artists selling their songs to commercials. this is just despicable. if hands thinks he's going to get away with that mere suggestion, he's a moron. well, i suppose the talks being held tomorrow might mean we'll get some info soon. i feel slightly snubbed by coldplay because usually there're pretty good at keeping us updated with what's going on. they have to tell us SOMETHING eventually, and i think it needs to be soon.

Major rant
yeah, most of the people that were "popular" in middle school either left my school and became hated in their public high schools because they were stuck in the mindset of being the MS queen-bees or were mocked in US because of their partying and superficial behavior. the more artsy, off-beat kids became popular in like 9th grade then, but because i went to such a tiny school, then the whole social-pyramid thing exploded and everyone became pretty much equal and friends with each other. i know your schools not as small as mine, anna, but its still pretty damn tiny in the realm of american high schools, and i think a similar thing will happen to you. those boys might do a 360 and become really nice in high school. that's what happened to me. i became best friends with some of the guys that were the biggest assholes, and i love them. but if that doesnt happen, then you can go on ignoring them like you are, because they have no business even touching the soles of your feet.

Anyone else think that Hillary Clinton sucks??
i wasnt as involved with 2004 because i figured kerry was a shoo-in...look how THAT turned out  but i still wore my "kerry/edwards" button every day. i used to want to get into politics, but now i cant believe i ever wanted to be a senator. all i want to do is write ficition now, but i cant deny that politics interests me. and i beg all my friends to vote too. this stuff is too important to ignore, especially for young people, who have to live with the consequences the longest.

Pictures, webcams, mugshots etc etc etc
yeahhhh, i was wondering why you were still on!! :laugh1: go write your paper, anna! (says me, who cant get off the forum long enough to take a shower...)

Anyone else think that Hillary Clinton sucks??

haha, maybe! she actually seems quite a lot like me (and looks like me without the glasses!), so i'm not really all that worried about specific people, i just dont really want to have to live with another person. that probably sounds terrible, but i'm just a really private person...gah, i have to stop complaining about this. it's HAPPENING and i need to deal :D i did notice that radiohead wasnt listed in her facebook music thingy, so that can be where the conversion takes place...
