Debs Says LP4 is NOT Called Prospekt!
i think 42 is a pretty cool album name given the hitchhiker's reference (one of my favorite books ever!), but i must say i'm still holding out for a kickass title that we havent heard of yet. something ubercreative and cool-sounding. if they name the next album 42, they'd be on kind of a mathy streak, yeah?? X&Y, then 42? :laugh1: :smart:

Coldplay on JIMMY KIMMEL tonight!
ack, i dont know what to think. i'm starting to get the feeling that i should stake my claim to the TV at midnight to see what happens, because my stomach has begun to go topsy-turvy with hope. but i just know that if i let my hopes get too high and this turns out to be a tape from 2003 or something equally as disappointing, i'll be pissed. this is why i'm a pessimist in general: so i'm either unsurprised by the outcome or pleasantly suprised. but when i'm so excited about something like i am for LP4, it's hard to ignore the hope... it sounded to me like sarah silverman had the surprise, but i don't know anymore. if they were just going to show a tape, why would they bother to say that the musical guest is coldplay? probably to torture people like us, i suppose... they don't stream the show live from the website, do they? that would be the best way for me to watch it... though if this is what we think it is, feb. 1 would make logical sense to release info, wouldnt it? ah, who am i kidding. the date has nothing to do with ANYTHING! :laugh1: it starts in 2.5 hours (it's 9:20 here right now). i think i'm just going to be glued to my computer to see what people say before i barge in and take over the TV. and i can always watch online tomorrow. so PLEASE someone post something here ASAP if we get wind of it ACTUALLY being coldplay early in the broadcast??

Coldplay on JIMMY KIMMEL tonight!
ahh, 26th!! i meant the 26th!! :drunk: :laugh1: yeah, my brain says itll just be a clip of them performing on the first show or whatever, especially now that mo said theyve been doing clips a lot recently. theyll probably show the clip from their last performance and remark on how young they looked or whatever. but i still cant supress a very tiny spark of hope over a live performance of new material. even though i dont think coldplay would reveal a new song or the Information on a US late-night show that doesnt have a whole lot of viewers (at least probably not as much as leno or conan, right?). it's not like them, and i doubt very many mainstream artists would choose the jimmy kimmel show to make some big announcement.

Coldplay Having To 'Share Studios' With Beth Ditto
i did too. but perhaps they need to use this specific studio for some reason? i dont know, i'm quite clueless when it comes to recording technology and all that. i hope that beth ditto doesnt stink up the studio for coldplay (the wiki article says she doesnt use deodorant because she "think punks are supposed to smell.")

Coldplay on JIMMY KIMMEL tonight!
hmm...i'm getting kind of suspicious. this IS his 5th anneversary--i wiki'ed it, and the show premiered on jan 36, 2003. but coldplay?! the site definitely says theyll be the musical guests...but WHY are they the musical guests? i hope thats not a typo or error on their part. i know this is probably not the case, but what if coldplay are going on the jimmy kimmel show tonight and premiering new music and giving us the Information that way?! because if theyre actually on the show tonight (and its not just a recording of them the first time they played it as a nostalgic thing), i cant really see them playing "fix you" or something. why would they play something old?? despite the fact that i'm probably very wrong about all this, i have a twinge of hope and excitement in my stomach nonetheless. though i'll probably have to wait until tomorrow when the epsisode is posted online to find out what actually went down concerning coldplay. and its probably not what i'm expecting. and you know i'm quite likely to explode when it's LP4 we're talking about, tracie! :laugh1:

NEW STARS ON COLDPLAY.COM
i'm getting more and more pessimistic as time goes on. if theyre going to release it before like, june, i would think they'd be telling us rather soon, if not already. i find myself wondering what the most likely day of the week and time of day the Information (note the caps :D) would be posted so i can get my hopes up on a certain day of the week, thinking that the odds are better. but i suppose there are no industry standards for such things, so its useless for me to wonder. but yesterday morning i came back from class and really wanted a nap, but i simply could not get to sleep before checking to see if anything had been posted. i'm getting THAT anxious.

Coldplay on JIMMY KIMMEL tonight!
i really dont think this is new for a number of reasons, even though the website is making it sound like it is. for one, its the writers strike, so almost ALL shows besides leno, conan, and stewart and colbert are reruns. for two, why the hell would coldplay be a guest now?! and for three, theyre apparently in london currently anyway, and this is a live show. if i wasnt sharing a room and a TV i'd tune in anyway, but i dont think its terribly worth it if its not new. but if it WAS new, i'd insist, of course :D

Debs Says LP4 is NOT Called Prospekt!
heh, this is actually a cool idea. though its been done before, or attempted to be done before. this strikes me as more of a radiohead-esque thing to do than coldplay, however.

Debs Says LP4 is NOT Called Prospekt!
yeah, i thought it was kind of moronic when people thought it would be called prospekt. its obviously a pseudonym! wait, does ian know the title?!

Random Coldplay thoughts...
oh, and that adorable pic of chris with moses on his shoulders was in random notes of the most recent issue of rolling stone (with thom yorke on the cover). i squeed when i saw it, because i wasnt expecting radiohead and coldplay in the same issue: it's next to a pic of anthony kiedis and his baby, everly bear. the caption in RS reads: "despite their differing preferences in climate--one's a hot chili pepper, the other likes to play in the cold--something that anthony kiedis and chris martin can agree on is that being a dad is rad. in new york, martin bundled up with his wee tot moses, and on the west side, kiedis smothered his son, everly bear. i thought this was very cute :baby:

The Strokes
i'm terribly excited for albert's next solo album! i was SO impressed by the first one; it was right on par with the strokes (incredible) music in my opinion. if it comes out around the same time as the coldplay album, i'll be in music heaven. and i read (somewhere...) that the strokes were going to start their fourth album in early 2009 once albert is finished touring. i really hope to see them again, because that was one of the best concerts i've ever been to in my life, and i'd kill to see albert if he comes around here.

Radiohead
argh, if i had a scanner here at uni, i'd scan it for you all! but it was a great article, better and more comprehensive than others i've read (though the mojo one was brillo as well). i particularly liked the cover, which says THE FUTURE BELONGS TO RADIOHEAD. for now, until we get the scans, here's an excerpt from the article; http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/18064095/the_future_according_to_radiohead

NEW STARS ON COLDPLAY.COM
^definitely withdrawal symptoms. it was like cold turkey from an addiction. and even though i checked coldplay.com compulsively, i still felt like i was missing info somehow! i'm so glad it's back now. wouldn't it have been horribly painful if during the time the board was down, coldplay.com put up THE prospekt entry about the album and release date? i wouldn't be able to rush over here and e-scream and talk to everyone! i was thinking about that today before i came here and saw the board was back.

Debs Says LP4 is NOT Called Prospekt!
Considering that I've never seen this and that the debate still rages on about LP4 being called Prospekt or not, I don't think this has been posted before. I found this on the Coldplay Official Facebook Group, which Debs Wild herself created and writes in: [in response to someone named Travis that referred to the album as Prospekt] "Travis .... the album will NOT be called Prospekt. The name did initially have relevance to the album, but not anymore. It's a pseudonym, if you will, of the person who writes the studio journals." http://hs.facebook.com/wall.php?id=2426402276&page=5&hash=8a6ca5acc2d90c3008947b77ec83222d If this still continues to be true (it was written a few months back), I'm quite happy! I was never really a fan of Prospekt being the album title. I was hoping for something more...original and less cheesy than just an altered spelling of a word. But, of course, it's the MUSIC that matters, not the title. Even if it's just called Coldplay (I'm hoping for more creativity, personally), as long as it's kick-ass, I don't care about the title!

Random Coldplay thoughts...
while the board was down, i had SEVERAL random coldplay moments! this one is my fave, though: i was talking to my brother on AIM and he was talking about this me-box he had to make for his health class (basically a box containing things that describe himself), and he had to put something secret on the inside. so this is a bit of our conversation: MY BROTHER: oh yeah you know my me box i was talking about? ME: yeah MY BROTHER: on the inside is suppose to be a secret thing ME: ... MY BROTHER: so i put the x and y album cover in there and will say my secret is i like coldplay ME: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ME: OMG ME: BEST. SECRET. EVER. MY BROTHER: hahahahaha ME: AHHHHHHHHHH i about died of happiness!

Coldplaying is back!
i felt like i was going cold turkey from an addiction. it was much more painufl than i expected, and i was SO INCREDIBLY BORED during the downtime between classes and studying. i didn't really think i would miss it as much as i did! and i also felt like i was almost MISSING news and information, even though i checked coldplay.com several times a day just so i didnt miss anything. it's interesting, but i always come here first for news and info rather than the official site... it's BACK!! i missed everyone!

Random Coldplay thoughts...
i think their brilliance is in the fact that their music is incredible, yet it isnt flashy or odd or radical. and like annie said, the lyrics are what got me first, i dont care how bad anyone says they are!
-
Fanmail Address!!
apparently all four know how to expertly forge each others signatures, but its still THEM doing it, i believe, which is more than you can say for lots of famous people... and since i missed out on getting that autographed poster from coldplay.com when it was available, i'm definitely going to write them and see if i get anything! i just need to think of something meaningful and non-fangirl-ish. ive never written a fan letter before...i think i'd feel kind of toolish doing it.

NEW STARS ON COLDPLAY.COM
ACK!!! i had NOT seen that!! well, i really want to believe it, but i can't, at least not fully. i think that if it was to come out in march, they would have told us the date and more details by now, or they're going to like next week. and i just dont feel that optimistic. i hold more stock in the may 19th/20th date (albums always come out on tuesdays in the US, and march 25th AND may 20th are tuesdays!!) but if they dont start talking soon about the potential may date, then who knows WHEN we'll get it? i feel like theyd give us approximately two months warning, at least. i can't see them pulling a radiohead and saying something like "it'll be out in 10 days!!" no one does that, and i think the industry norm is around 2 months...
-
Fanmail Address!!
i kind of really want to send something now, but i've got no idea what to say! well, i suppose i'll try. i wonder how much fanmail they actually get, or at lest before we got this address a few days ago. i mean, i cant really imagine that they got sackloads of mail or anything in this internet age. so i hope that means that they're more likely to respond!! especially with autographs!
-
Fanmail Address!!
dude! i always wondered if there was an address! not that i would know what to say or anything, because i cant imagine that they like the "OMG i love your music!" kind of thing, but if i ever think of a good, meaningful story i would contemplate writing them. good to know!

Radiohead
here either. i'm checking the bookstore every day, but all i see is jonny depp rather than thom...

Cause you're not just anyone, you're a ladder to the sun
while i like "AROBTTH" as a song and think it's quite good, i never really got the hype, either. same with "how you see the world" and "politik." while a rareities album would be good for casual fans, for us types i think it would kind of be a waste. personally, i'd much rather see an album of songs that never made it to be on an album or even a b-side. ohhh, how i would die. question: how the HELL did we get a hold of the songs "harmless" and "a ghost"? theyre not even b-sides!! were they put up on the site as exclusive downloads or something, like "animals" was? i've just always wondered about that.
