the beatles will always be #1 for me because theyre legendary and amazing at the same time. but coldplay is a VERY close second, and then U2, and then Death Cab for Cutie, and then the Strokes. i like a million other bands, but coldplay will always be at the very top, and that says something. theyre the third band ive been obsessed with, but ive been obsessed with them for the longest time. and ill never ever not love them. i get happy just THINKING about them.

i feel almost a...responsibility to like radiohead, but after trying...i kinda sorta dont. i just dont connect with it at all, and its not really my type of music. i respect them 100% as musicians and think theyre innovative and awesome and legendary, but i just cant get in the groove. i really dont understand how people compare them and coldplay at all, really. though i love love LOVE the song "airbag". i always listen to coldplay whenever im upset, particularly AROBTTH. i have a feeling that CD is going to be reduced to dust by the time my college application process is over. i think i need to listen to it now, in fact.

was talking about music with my brother just now, and i asked "do you liike coldplay?" just to see his reaction (i knew the answer). he choked on his chicken and said "NOOO" and i said "why not?" and he said "THEY'RE GAY!" (im gonna kill him, dont worry). i asked "what dont you like about them?" and he said "theyre stupid...bad...YUCK!!" it was actually funny, despite disrespectful. i swear im not related to him.

i KNOW, and that pic later on looks a lot like him. my friend was right on! sooo scary though. and my friend doesnt think he sounds like chris at all. ill have to hit him for being stupid, but hug him for getting me the CD. the same friend and i have a bet going. if we get into our number-one colleges, we'll buy each other music-related gifts (because our colleges are a bit of a stretch: he wants to go to harvard and i realllly want to go to vassar [well, his is a bit more of a stretch...]) ANYWAY, if i get in, im going to demand some coldplay-related present...a good one, too! ill probably end up getting him something coldplay too if he gets in. he likes them a lot (his number 2 band, according to his last.fm), but makes fun of them all the time to make fun of me. in the car last week, 2 of my friends were grilling me on chris martin stats to see how obsessed i was. i answered them all (height, birthday, eye color, stuff like that. i didnt know weight, though). it was funny, albeit embarrassing. heard "clocks" in gap on friday! i sang along under my breath, and my friends rolled their eyes. BUT! soooo many people in there were humming/whistling/mouthing along, it was SO nice and cute! everyone knew the song! strange, almost everyone in my school loves coldplay. then again, i go to a bit of an...abnormal school. still, though. no one's as obsessed as i am, but i can hardly think of a person that doesnt like them. sorry for the novel and the late responses to things. i hafta use my time on here wisely nowadays! i miss it...

now if chris would only wear a ukraine shirt, my life would be complete. (actually, no, if i SAW him with my own eyes wearing a ukraine shirt, my life would be complete). i think i should mail him mine...

my best friend gave me a CD today and said "You'll really love this, its so you" and he was all excited about it. on the ride home, he put it in the CD player and i could have SWORN it was chris singing. it was creepy, actually. its a guy named matt kearney, who ive never heard of, but the music is very coldplayish and he sounds EXACTLY like chris, its creepy. and my friend says he looks like chris too, though i dont trust his judgement on stuff like this. after all, he doesnt think this matt guy sounds like chris, when he SOO does. i got all mushy and squealy talking about chris in the car, and he just looked at me and rolled his eyes. boys. i actually vaguely recall someone mentioning a new musician that sounded EXACTLY like chris in this forum, and i think it may be this matt dude, though a search returned nothing. but seriously, look him up on itunes or wherever and tell me he doesnt sound like chris.

oof, i love the way he moves in that video. actually, that video (and how he moves in it) was key in my love affair with coldplay. that video made me loooove them (and him).

today my friend was talking about having backstage passes to see john mayer this summer and how she flattened him with hugs and he kissed her on the cheek and hung out in his dressing room for like an hour just talking etc. i got thinking how AMAZING that would be to do with coldplay. i think id have to wear a diaper. homg. my heart rate increased just thinking about it. i was hacing a crappy day, and thinking of them really brightened it. the truth is i havent been listening to coldplay as much this past month because ive found death cab for cutie and i got tickets to see them on my birthday. but ive re-discovered AROBTTH, especially "the scientist", and it makes me SO HAPPY. yeah, im cool. :cool:

my mom is the one that got me into coldplay, so she just says stuff to make fun of me. basically commenting on chris's beardy and his love for jonny. my brother thinks theyre stupid. my dad got AROBTTH for xmas from my aunt the year it came out. i only knew "clocks" way back then, and the album because my mom had it. to my knowlegde, my dad never listened to it, and i stole the copy last year so my mom could have hers too. the night before i was going to see coldplay the second time, i was walking past my dad's office and "clocks" was playing on the radio, and i stayed by the door so i could listen to it. my dad saw me and said "the only reason youre here is to listen to this song". i denied it (lying, of course), and he laughed and said "no, that's ok, this is a lovely song," and TURNED UP THE RADIO. if you knew my dad, you'd realize how surprising this is.

my friend recently got really into AROBTTH and can hardly listen to anything else. shes always respected coldplay, but i gave her that album and i think its selling her. she plays it nonstop in the student center now. that really is a great album to listen to when you're depressed. its absolutely perfect. i recently discovered how BRILLIANT the live 2003 versions of "the scientist" and "life is for living" are. whoo. i heart chris martin. and everyone else too.

i cant spend enough time in here anymore and it makes me sad. between all-consuming school and college apps and everything else, i come in here once a week, if im lucky. i actually got a message upon logging in that said "looks like you havent been here in a while, here's whats new". that almost made me cry. sorry, just had to lament.

i think yo had to be there for this one but... one time my mom was screaming at me to wake up but i didnt want to, so she came into my room to yell at me. that old copy of rolling stone with them on the cover was on my floor and she picked it up, looked at it quietly, and said "you think they'd have at least one razor between them. they could share, for gods sake. that's what you should send them: razorblades." i just about died laughing. my mom also thinks chris is gay and he doesnt know it yet. however, she loves coldplay and is the one that got me into them in the first place, so i cant really complain.

while this saddens me, they do really need family time. this is going to be torture. my only hope is that they get itchy fingers and start recording on a low-intensity run when they feel like it, so maybe itll only be 3 years or something. then again, who knows? though it does seem really serious...

i miss this forum like no other. school really overtakes my life. and this year i have college applications to worry about too...so my time here is precious. it makes me so saaaad, i feel like im missing so much. i became so addicted over the summer... thats basically all i have to say, that im sad i cant spend hours in here like im used to.

ooh, i like them about the same...for very different reasons... i guess i have to go with...help is round the corner. anyone notice at the very end of this song, if you turn the volume waay up, you can hear traffic noises, like wooshing cars and honking horns? i thought that was pretty cool. swallowed in the sea or speed of sound?

dunkin donuts uses fair trade coffee, and the sign is in MTF colors and font, so that made me happy. i like starbucks better, though. my friend told me that she was listening to a local radio station and they were counting down rock music's top 10 wusses. chris was #4. arrg! (but the fact that my friend knew who chris martin was made me happy).

my friends mom hates chris martin with a passion. she says he's whiney and immature and self-absorbed. WTF? i dont see this at ALL, especially the self-absorbed part. i was getting really sad in the car yesterday, and then my best friend (who likes coldplay!) has to go "oh, yeah, i really like coldplay, but chris martins always been a bit stupid to me". AHHHH. :cry: i hit him, but i didnt feel better. while its perfectly fine for everyone to have their own opinions, i just dont think my friends moms perceptions are based in any truth whatsoever. something tells me she is confusing him with someone else, or has only seen him on TV like once and knows nothing about his personality or charity work. Grr. this made me sad.

i bought a new planner today from school (its actually a lesson planner, but yeah, im using it as an assignment planner), and the entire thing is written in EXACTLY the coldplay font. i found this very exciting and told my friend. she just looked at me and laughed and said "if i didnt know you, i would think you were a total headcase." yeah, true... now that schools started again, that means i have less time here...:cry: i got so obsessed over the summer!
