Wow, I am not a country music fan at all, but she's amazing. What a great performance! She looks absolutely terrified in the first verse, but she doesn't let it affect her voice or playing at all...which is more than we can say for her husband sometimes! :P I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Chris wrote at least that song, if not others for the film, so I think she's just being...cute by acting like that's just a rumor, but correct me if I'm wrong. I don't really know what they think they're achieving by trying to hide it, though. I just find it kind of funny that they've never appeared together in public all these years partially through fear of being seen as "using" each others' fame or propelling each other forward success-wise...and then Chris goes and writes a song(s) specifically for her to sing in her new film :lol:. By that ruler, I think they're allowed to walk in the park together now.

No, it's OK, Coldplay, I'm not upset that this is THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW that you schedule a Christmas gig somewhere in the UK the day I fly home from the UK. Last year, Devon, this year, Liverpool and Newcastle! I'm legitimately upset, even though I know I have no right to be in light of what the gigs are benefiting. I've been trying to scheme a way for me to stay in England just two more days all morning. Even if it would be hard to get tickets since my postcode isn't in Liverpool or Newcastle, I'd give it all I had. SIGH. My last ditch effort will be to read the fine print of my plane tickets and see if I can change the date of flight for free/little cost. Good luck to everyone else trying to get tickets!

I smell a very large paycheck for them. I don't expect new material, but I don't really anticipate "Viva la Vida" or something, either. Hmm.

This. Obviously they can do what they want, but I'm kind of the mind that they should be in the studio rather than popping around doing so many appearances in random places. I'm not one of these people that whines and says "oh, they're selling out, they're disappointing me," but at the same time...it's things like the NYE gig in Vegas for a casino opening that makes me question their thought processes these days. I can't say I'm a fan of Glee, but I'd watch a Coldplay episode whether it had Chris Martin in it or not. I also plan to watch the Gwyneth episodes. I doubt this is true very much...I take it to mean the music, not the person. It just...doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but in the end, who knows, because they're doing some random stuff I never would have seen them doing lately. I feel like another reason this can't possibly be true is that Gwyneth is going to be on the show this autumn (I think that's confirmed? More than just a rumor?), and it would be a cold day in hell before Chris appeared on the same show as his wife, same episode or not :lol:.

SO CALLED IT. I knew when they announced Ping today and Chris went on that stage that this would be the future of Coldplay news. They're going to be one of the artists that pioneers Ping, and I'm PUMPED. *waits for iTunes 10 to download* :bomb: I've been checking for iTunes 10 to be up ALL DAY, and now just when I want to go to bed it goes up and there are awesome things >.<

The proverbial milk shot out of my nose when I saw this :lol:. I was streaming the event through CNN when it said it would "be back in a moment," but it never did. I'm glad I didn't know that Chris was going to be on...otherwise I probably would have punched through the monitor :P. I have to say I like the acoustic guitar South Bank Show version of the song better, but this was lovely too :nice:. I didn't see it as a sad song before, though: I thought it was about a guy and a girl getting married, not a guy watching someone he loves getting married to someone else :sad:. I hope Chris's attendance at this Apple thing today means they'll be heavy users of the new iTunes Ping thing for news...that sounds really convenient!

Middle class in America tends to mean comfortable, with no real shortage of essentials and creature comforts, but average. A house with ponies and a tennis court and that much land etc would be "upper class," even though people don't really use that term here so often. "Rich" is a more common term, at least where I come from. And I never pictured Chris as what I understand to mean rich, even though I'm well aware of what "middle class" means in England...my American will always outweigh my English on that front :P So Chris growing up in a McMansion makes me feel a little :freak:

AGH, I love her. I always think she looks the best in casual clothes, and this is no exception. I'm intrigued by Chris's foot as well, but I bet we'll never know.

I found these pictures at work and they made my day :wacky:. I just think they look so cute, like they're having such a good time. I was in the same exact aircast as Chris (except mine was black) for four months this year, and I busted my hand this year as well. I think I'm a trendsetter :P. Don't really know how you can break/injure your foot surfing, so I wonder if it's something else that he did to it. And I think Gwyneth looks fabulous, boots and all :nice:. She and Jay are so cute.

I don't want to start a big hubub, since I bet it'll come to nothing, but I thought I should share what I found with everyone (...I don't think anyone else has posted about it recently) and ask if anyone else has heard anything about it, since I haven't been here in awhile. I was poking around HMV.com (I'm trying to find a 7" of Life in Technicolor ii to no avail) when I saw they have a DVD called "Coldplay" for pre-order that will apparently be released on 27 September 2010. Check it here. The product description makes it sound like it's a documentary about them up to this point, which made me think of the Matt Whitecross film, but it's so shoddily written that I don't think that's really what this is. :shrug: I don't honestly think it'll come to anything, since if it was that rumored Live 2003-esque release we've all been dying for for 7 years/the Matt Whitecross film, I think we would have been told about it by now. This is probably either an error or just another one of those disappointing unauthorized DVDs, but I thought I'd open the doors wide to insane speculation with you all on here :D Even if it is a mistake for the 27th, it does actually get my hopes up a bit about there being something officially released in the somewhat-near future! I asked the Oracle about it just for kicks. I don't think she'll answer, but it might make them aware that something's on the site in error, so they might take it down pretty fast (or if pigs are flying, that something's coming out soon). (HI EVERYONE, by the way! Haven't been here in a while, but I know that'll change the second we get some concrete news about LP5...)

GAH, his usual surf spot in the Hamptons is literally in the backyard of the house my family and I stay in every June, but of COURSE they're never there when we are :sad:. Doesn't keep me from studying all the surfers just in case, though :P I think they're all in NY though, yes? Recording in studios in the city? So he's just probably having an evening surf or on a day off or something :D. I think they're still working, just...slowly. And yeah, what's up with his thumb? The two most recent pictures I've seen of him 2-3 months apart have that brace in them :thinking:.

I'll admit that the "Fix You" sounds the most like Chris yet, but I still think it's someone else who happens to sound like him. It's not pitch perfect at all, it's not a perfect imitation if you ask me: it's better than probably anyone else in the world can do, but his intonation/accent/pronunciation are just wrong to me, and all the echoey effects seem to be there ONLY do help mask the imperfections. The singer Matt Kearney sounds a lot like Chris to me too, sometimes almost identical like this person does, but the differences are what stick out more the similarities, and that's what I think this is a case of. Why would the real Chris record something that sounds like it was done on a cell phone in a bathroom, for God's sake? :P We know how all their previous demos sound and how they usually go about recording them, we have one from each album/era at least, and they sound nothing like this. I feel like drowning a demo in effects like this defeats the purpose of a demo.
