Barack Obama's core belief
well i look at the third party candidate and i ask ,"would i want this man to be president?" and in the case of Bob Barr i say no. I do not agree at all with libertarian views. I believe it is an outdated way of thinking and impractical in a global society.

Barack Obama - are you kidding me?
we have had socialism here in the US for years and nobody seems to realize this...."Obama is a socialist!!" newsflash, anyone who uses social security is a socialist

CHINA STARTS OIL DRILLING OFF FLORIDA
i can honestly say i am ready to fight. Its only a matter of time in my opinion. Im already on a navy career path after college, and with a glance at China's growing navy, this could be a real naval war coming up.

A clearer explanation of the financial bailout.
Obama isnt the only one in bed with these guys you know

A clearer explanation of the financial bailout.
i was only for this plan because i felt that we needed a "band-aid" if you will to relieve the stress on the stock market in the short term, providing less pain while fixing the PROBLEMS for the long term. Alot of people who were anti-bill were so strictly out of ideology, which is rediculous. Too many people dont understand that this isnt a "punish wall st for their greediness" scenario, this is regular tax paying families losing thier retirements, houses, everything scenario. THAT is why i was pro-bill. Plus the actual projected cost to FIX the problem was 14 trillion so 700 billion was always going to be short term. However the bill had ALOT of problems with it, one of the biggest being that there, again, were no regulations on anything, and that Paulson had complete discretion on which "toxic debts" he chose to buy, AND would not be held accountable if things worsened. What needs to be done is a full scale FIX of what caused the housing bubble. And we have to get away from the "American dream that EVERYONE can own a house and not afford it" mentality. Many feel as though this free fall we are in right now will actually level out once the NASDAQ hits around 1,000, (where it was when the housing bubble first started). Letting these companies go into bankruptcy punishes those who deserved to lose everything in the first place, instead of a majority MAKING money (as they would have under the proposed bill) Dont get me wrong, SOMETHING must be done to relieve the stress on the stock market and restore investor confidence. That is one of the biggest problems here, is that its not JUST the high risk investors who are on track to lose everything, its also regular joes with their 401(k)'s tied into the stock market....It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the government to do something to help those innocent Americans caught in the middle of this. I will await the second bill that looks to be in the making. Hopefully it is better because we need one hell of a band aid if we are going to get out of this without some serious pain.

A clearer explanation of the financial bailout.
i hope none of you folks have 401k's because those are about to go *poof* who really wants to retire anyway? The sad thing here is that 1 trillion dollars for this war in Iraq is considered acceptable. We tax payers pay for that as well, just so you all know.

A clearer explanation of the financial bailout.
wow ,hundreds of accredited economists say you cannot pin this mess down to one a single problem, but i see you can! You should let them know that you have figured the whole thing out!

Obama one of the 10 most corrupt politicians
"Sen. McCain has recieved $169,000 from the mortgage companies and their affiliates. Two of the top contributors -- Freddie Mac's board member Geoffrey T. Boisi and Fannie Mae lobbyist Richard F. Hohlt -- are listed on Mccain's website as bundlers who've raised between $100,000-$250,000 for McCain. (A sidebar in the Times lists McCain's top donors connected to the mortgage companies.)" Obama, still bad but not quite as bad.... "Sen. Obama has recieved $123,850 from the Fannie and Freddie's employees and PACs since coming in office. Even though Obama has only been in the Senate since 2005" those Mccain numbers you were listing were grossly understated.... also Mccain recieved $293,010 ($366,035 since 1989) from Merril Lynch

Obama one of the 10 most corrupt politicians
well we can either have bad inflation or we can lose everything and not be able to afford retirement....personally ill take the latter. 401k's are tied into the stock market, which is tied into these huge corporations. I dont like it anymore than you do, buying out rich cunts who make bad decisions, but im not willing to suffer the consequences of THEIR actions. Basically you are saying to just go ahead and let this meltdown happen? well have fun with that, that is just idealism and not reality, simply a normative view of real economic situations.

Obama one of the 10 most corrupt politicians
EVERYONE WITH A BRAIN is advocating these bailouts...True Capitalism reall sucks for average people, because yes the ship does right intself in the long run, but in the words of Keynes, "in the long run we are all dead" so the government must intervene out of responsibility to the people. We will have spent more on the Iraq war than on this bailout and people are bitching? We will have accomplished nothing in long term strategic goals and will have spent 1 trillion dollars to do it. Even the most "hardcore capitalists" are advocating this buyout because they know that 90% of Americans would lose most if not all of their savings if this meltdown was allowed to go ahead. Im all for punishing businesses who make bad decisions, but when their fate is intertwined with mine and the rest of the nation's i will just go ahead and advocate the buyout, which is what virtually the entire economic community has done.

OBAMA BEING OBAMA
Mrcool, i do not dissagree with what youa re saying about campaign financing. Absolutely true, in the end, both candidates will do what they can to help the big guys who got them elected. However, to say that the Democrats support the destruction of the constitution because of their voting for the Iraq war is flawed at best. If they had been told, "we are going to claim that they had a hand in 9/11 and they definitely have WMD's, but since that isnt true at all and we KNOW its not true, we are going to say we want to free the people of tyranny" and then they voted on the issue, then okay i could agree that everyone had an equal hand in allowing that to happen. However when you are suckered in with false intelligence (ahmed chalabi) and told that the reasons for going to war were "this" and they ended up being "that", no way am i going to hold them AS responsible as the liars who thought it up. Also, if they are both big business candidates, then really the only things the American people have to fight over are idealistic issues. Such as religion in the white house, abortion, etc. Those are the things that most people are going to care about and that is where the candidates truly differ. I look at one side who wants to force their religious views upon my family and i, I look at one side who wants to tell my family and i that, though her daughter had a choice in deciding whether or not to keep her child, my family will not have that same choice because the governing individuals believe it to be wrong. I look at one side who still supports things like the Iraq war and current foreign policy, full yknowing their flaws, and which are obviously not viewed favorably by the American people. I will never vote for a ticket with Mccain, who sold his soul for this election (used to be a pretty decent guy, standing up for whwat he believed in) and a rediculously hardcore right winger like Palin. Another issue is how quickly Americans forget...28% approval rating for Bush, and then Palin, who looks to be Bush's twin sister, comes along and envigorates the Mccain campaign and wins over all these women voters!? Its REDICULOUS, have you even been living here the last 8 years i ask???(to these poeple) Bush took over the economy which was soaring higher than ever before and has left it in absolute and utter shambles. The average American is far worse off now than before, average wage is down, unemployment is up, people think that drilling in Alaska is going to have a significant effect on gas prices, etc. Personally i think that if you voted for Bush the first term and then voted against him second term, okay honest mistake, but if you are one of the folks responsible for putting him in the White house for a second term after seeing how the first went, you should get passed up for your vote this year. "Im sorry, but you have proven yourself incapable of rational thought and have therefore forfeited your right to vote for President of the United States." Of course i dont actually believe that, but it is people like that, that make me recant my statements about the Electoral College. Previously i had stated that the average American was smart enough to make an educated decision regarding the office of Commander in Chief, however, following the last eight years i have rethought that, and 100% support the Electoral College.

Georgian army moves to retake South Ossetia
the Georgians asked for a ceasefire but it remains to be seen whether or not the Russians will agree to it, right now they are pushing for an unconditional withdrawal of Georgian forces and are positioning the black sea fleet to support the Abkhazian separatists who are planning to enter this fight....i imagine by tomorrow Russia will be pressured into this ceasefire by international opinion, but if they dont....this could get very interesting

Global Warming: Is The Debate Over?
unfortunately the ice caps ARE melting and nobody can deny that, not even the scientists who dont believe in global warming...look at ice charts from the 1970s and look at them now, you will be amazed how little ice is left. Its being predicted that the arctic seas may cease to completely freeze over in the near future, which would absolutely destroy the polar bear.....not a believer in global warming, but it is undenyable that the ice is melting, and fast.

American Govt needs to stop
which policy has he enacted that aligns with liberal policies today? Last time i checked i wanted my tax dollars to go to Social Security, medicaid, healthcare, and various other social services, not to increase the defense budget to 600 billion dollars. my favorite thing about bush is that he takes a sky high surplus left by Clinton, absolutely runs the economy into the ground and into trillions of dollars in debt. The dollar is tanking, gas is outrageous, and Americans are dying. On top of that he increases defense spending to 600 billion dollars.....BUT every time congress tries to get some money for social welfare programs, he vows to "corral runaway liberal spending".

Nato denies Georgia and Ukraine
its actually far more than 3000.....4000 americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis. I agree, the ignorance of the US was uncanny in the lead up to the invasion. Dick Cheney himself, while secretary of defense for George H W Bush said we did not invade Iraq after pushing them out of Kuwait because it would have been a "quagmire"......so that was pretty stupid. But to say that they dont want our countries corrupt idealism ruining it.......haha ruining it? pretty sure its more like the corrupt iraqi government in power that would rather take part in religious cleansing than police their country. These people support guys like Sadr.....if thats not "corrupt idealism" i dont know what is.

Nato denies Georgia and Ukraine
hahahaha im by no means a war monger or a flag waver. Im patriotic, and i plan to serve my country as an officer in the US Navy. HOWEVER, denying the fact that the US's involvement in both world wars was not the decisive factor that lead to defeat for the Triple Alliance and the Axis powers is just downright rediculous. without the Industry of the United States, The Allies would have run bone dry and would have been forced to make peace or worse in both wars....And for people who think we didnt have any effect on WWI..."we came over when the allies had already won" think about this.....Russia had just been run out of the war, AKA the western and southern fronts were all Germany had to worry about, AND Austria had just aquired the resource rich Ukraine from Russia's new government, so they were now geared up and ready to go to make the final push for victory against the French and British.....JUST when we make it over with 250,000 troops to tip the scale and force surrender.....but NO you guys couldnt take victory with a grain of salt, you had to go and give Woodrow Wilson the fat finger by forcing the War Guilt Clause and Treaty of Versailles on Germany and OPEN THE DOOR for fascism......not feeling so proud now are you? well if that wasnt enough, GB was on LIFE SUPPORT with the Lend-Lease program from the United States....without the tons of supplies, money, and vehicles provided by the United States, there is no way England would have made it out of 1941. Granted they did all the fighting in the beginning, but they fought with our money in their pockets, our bullets in their rifles, and our rations in their bellies. denying anything less is just a blatant disreguard of the historical facts.

Muslim Fanatics Slaughter School Children
im sorry but if you DONT think that there are two problems here (Israel AND muslim extremists) then you are just being ignorant. I in no way, shape, or form, agree with what these muslim extremists are doing. BUT how many muslims are killed by Israeli soldiers daily? why is Israel allowed to have an occupation force in demilitarized zones, in violation of international law? there is more to the problem, you have only hit on half of it

Ron Paul for President 2008
Trust me, nobody is pissed off more about our country basically being sold to foreign corporations than i am.....but eliminating all these government agencies isnt really going to solve much....sure the FED is printing more money and therefor causing high inflation...but that doesnt mean they should be disbanded...And ive researched the guy, he has been quoted in saying he wanted to get rid of each of those agencies...some of them i will miss less than others of course.. We dont need a radical change to keep our dollar from plunging farther into oblivion...we need republicans OUT! look at the economy under Clinton? inlfation was at an all time low while the average joe was 40% better off financially then, versus now.... I dont think our system is broken, i believe the people that have been running it for the last 8 years are incompetent.....what is REALLY needed is a leader that is beholding to NOBODY....a leader who got elected using his own funds and does not have to give these huge kickbacks....thats why i would be a huge supporter of Unity08 if they could get Bloomberg to run...he could pay for the election himself... Thats the thing, i agree with most of what Paul is saying, minus the stuff about immigration, abortion, social security/and other social programs.....(ie the iraq war, civil liberties, interpretation of the constitution) but i just dont agree with the way he would go about it

Ron Paul for President 2008
Pual wants to get rid of just about every government agencies.....some of them are the Internal Revenue service, Department of Education, Department of Homeland security, Department of Energy, Intersate Commerce commission, the Federal Emergency management Administration, etc.... he votes against just about ANY government spending...no matter what it is on....he is STAUNCHLY anti abortion and would illegalize it everywhere. he said he would look to overturn Roe vs Wade.. He voted for the Secure Fence act which immediately makes him stupid.....A WALL IS NOT GOING TO STOP ILLEGALS!!! he opposes amnesty of any kind AND birthright citizenship.. He wants us to withdraw from Nato and the United Nations.....to basically just chill by ourselves....NO foreign intervention of ANY kind ever... When i first heard about him i did a little research, since i agreed with the points i heard him make...they involved his opposition to the Patriot act, the national ID, torture, and his voting against the Iraq war....but i found that this guy would be extremely bad for the country. Plus even if he was elected, he is so far away from either of the two parties that he would have a HUGE problem getting anything passed through Congress....
