The Path Traveled: After the crash, after the dust had settled After all the cleanup, and all the mourning Cried the morning dove, a haunting melody And Time Passed this way. Another season, another dawn, another snow Cooler thinking still not complete, still questions, perhaps eternal Why the daring risks for naught and does not see Yet small; but fragile; and still no eyes Could see the reel as real Lessons too hard, why must it be? Panning the stream bed, for a glint of gold Yet all around is better than gold, better than glory Lost in the mist of time and space; answers deep, for the Dove's Call: Ooo, Wheeo, Coo, Coo..

That's a dilemma! Well, I can visualize that.. like wearing different hats, so to speak; or maybe like different plays with different acts and actors? I've often felt myself that I can be in more than one state of mind, yet they don't mesh perfectly.. One thing's true - we're all human! I've often thought of different cultures as different spices; all can be good in the right dish, and all make life better!:) English - yes, there's a certain appeal to being English; England certainly is a cool place!:laugh3: (especially in January!) Well, whatever you choose, or choose to be all of the above, just enjoy life!:sunny:

What are you thinking right now?
OK.. Do I even want to know what that was all about ??:thinking: I suppose we all have our moments - it's winter, it's dark, it's cold, getting colder. Good to get out, and see people! Hey, we're all getting older - oh well, that's life!:hat: I feel older in winter too, but younger in summer, and I think this is a common experience.. What I was thinking - Well, I watched Chomsky on YouHooTube, and had about the same feelings as I did about 9-11-01. Still things to explain, but our President's too dumb to have been involved in a conspiracy plot that thick. Then I watched footage of the twin towers, and I'm still felling a little sick to my stomach from seeing it all again..:dozey: Oh well, thank goodness we can get past the misery of the past, and feel OK again! I did meet someone while on vacation down in Hot Springs, AK, who had the good fortune of running away from the falling building & surviving all the falling glass, etc.- he had too many nightmares & had to get out of NY - just too much for him too, but he's feeling fine now. Well, that's what's on my mind..

clocks...meaning
Answer Hmm.. that's a good question - what does it mean! I really can't say what Martin was thinking at the time.. A neighbor of mine says that a lot of song writers tend to just use stream of consciousness to write lyrics - that could well be the case! I'm guessing it has something to do with the mystery person's nature, purpose in life, or state of mind. Since William Tell's legend was seeing a revival in Europe at the time, I think it has something to do with that, as Chris was perhaps thinking along those lines. Since the original keyboardist is unknown at the time the music was played, Chris is asking "you are.. you are..?" It's the thoughts that the music evoked at the time he wrote the lyrics - since the music is a haunting melody, hence he's guessing "with a trouble that can't be named".. and the serious, determined look on the mysterious person's face - "a tiger's waiting to be tamed" The name was actually by accident - "What is it?" was the question asked. "Clocks" was the answer, as the mysterious person was looking for a watch, or the time, and was in a hurry to meet an appointment. I guess, in a way, this could be seen as the image we see when we visualize trying to make an appointment by a certain time. The piece could have been named "Watch", or any other thing, but Chris and Bono both liked the name, saying "that's great, that's great!" - it stuck, and now wears that badge. But really, when one thinks of it, the meaning is more about the feelings the song evokes - it is drama, intensity, and inspiration; rising and falling action; melodious birds and the chimes of a clock, all done with great intensity within the echo chamber of our mind's ear.

Yes, that is nice! So true in the cold season - how we feel, if nothing else. I'll probably not need to worry about gray hair - at the rate I'm going, there won't be much left by then!:laugh3:- Poets
Time slips away, slips away on me.. Yes, it's on my to-do list - but other more pressing things get in the way. Definitely someday. It's nice to be able to listen to bird songs of spring in the dead of winter, and the frog calls... Your music is very nice - very relaxing! Thanks for offering it!;)- balls
rack of lamb.. Well, that's a surprise!! I suppose it's all just part of the bull, but the mental imagery that it conjures up - ya, that's a little too much for me too! (don't feel bad - we've probably all eaten it in hot-dogs anyhow! Makes me wonder about those ball-park franks!:stunned:) Why, oh why do people do this - I mean, they could have at least asked if you cared to know what the secret ingredient was!! Hmm.. thank goodness all the Greek food I've had was clearly shaved lamb off the rotisserie!!:laugh3: Maybe that's what gives the Greeks their stamina?:P Anyhow, one more argument for Chicken! Happy Trails!- balls
Now that's a new thing - more descriptive written laughter.. We had better call Webster's right now!!:laugh3:- I do remember when I was a newbie on here...
YES!!! I went back and took a look.. I was simply amazed to find this site, and all the other friendly people on it!! I has no clue there was such a chatty forum on the net, devoted to independent music! (& hats off to whoever runs this thing - I owe them a debt of gratitude for keeping the wheels turning day in, and day out..) & to Coldplay - who have brought meaning back to so many people's lives... That was in August of 2006 for me.. now it feels like I know most everyone! I'm so pleased to have met you all!!:sunny::elf::bandana::) YEA!!!- I do remember when I was a newbie on here...
Cheer up - it's just a bit of confusion, that's all it is!:)- Flavor Combinations Game
That's a good combo!:sunny: How about ginger and garlic (goes great in Polynesian pork/chicken!)- Poetry and Prose
Thanks Ahlem! Arabic is fascinating! We had a travelling troupe of singers come through the area a year or so ago, and they really put on quite a show - Cameron and Kristina Powers are their names, and they have travelled extensively in the Arab world - very nice people, and fascinating descriptions of the world there! I was very interested in learning about the different ways in which people think, and how that relates to language - and they did an excellent job of explaining how the Arab world thinks more in terms of action (verbs), rather than objects (nouns), and how this affects outlook, as well as being interwoven into the fabric of the language and culture. So, do you see yourself more as French, Arabic, or something new?- what the..............
Yea, it's unfortunate that there's a market for outbursts - I mean, the poparatzi drive someone nuts, get a piece of footage that's unkind, and then someone pays them for it to put it on the air.. It's really, really wrong, and I think the police should step in and arrest the buggers for harassment! Yet it goes on... and people want to see it enough to boost ratings and tabloid sales - how sad..- Poets
Very nice music!! I was thinking along those lines for quite some time - I've always wanted to just record the sounds of nature here - the stream's burble, the birds singing in the early AM in spring, the sounds of frogs in spring - now I've gotten inspired - if only I can find the time! Anyhow, many thanks!- Poets
Nights Pinprick holes in a colorless sky, let insipid figures of light pass us by; The mighty light of 10,000 suns challenges infinity, but is soon gone. Cold-hearted orb that rules the night..steals the colors from our sight. Red is grey, and yellow white, but we decide which is right. And which is an illusion? Nighttime, a brief interlude for some; for others the fear of solitude. Impassioned lovers wrestle as one. New mother picks up and settles her son. Bedsitter people look back and lament - another day's useless energy spent. Brave Phelius, wake up your steeds, bring the warmth of the countryside to our needs...- Poets
Here's one: Post this on your computer - sometimes it helps! Caution! This is a time machine!! I thought for sure it would help me - it did work for a while, but alas, computers are a drug on the market.. Oh well - now I don't watch TV!:laugh3:- what the..............
Sounds like it to me! I would want to do the same, if they kept bugging me as well! I think what we often take for granted is our right to privacy, and what that really means. There are good reasons people have a right to privacy at times; even a right to be left-alone in public! It would drive me nuts to have some camera fanatic 24/7 taking pictures.. Plus, if you've had a bad day, imagine how extra-annoying that could be. I say, good for Chris! Sock it to em!!;)- OneRepublic
Well, it has something like 44,000,000 views on YouhooTube, which must mean something! (probably almost a record of some sorts) Anyhow, I like the song, but the radio stations are overplaying it quite a bit.. What exactly is it about? (I find most recording artists say something, but it's often about something else..)- HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK8!!!!!
Happy Birthday Rick !!! Yea!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:- HELLO TO ALL MEMBERS
Hello MarkesS! That's a very beautiful scene! Reminds me of here, when the moist air rises and condenses overnight on the trees along the stream. Hamburg's a fine port -I have a vague recollection of my Grandfather explaining that he had worked out of Hamburg in the German Merchant Marines.. Anyhow, this site gets easier as you get to know it. Have Fun!! Sincerely, -Chuck. - Poets
