  1. Jumpin' frogs, this thread has a lot of posts!:laugh3:
  2. Umm.. be kind to the computer - it's maybe not the end yet!:) Hard to get support for older systems, but they still work well for general stuff.. National Geographic has a really good article on computer waste (e waste) -plenty of problems, but lots of recycling going on, and some places reuse the parts for low-cost TV's, etc.. Anywhohow, mouse noise is fine; when the operating system is no longer supported at all, it's kinda curtains for any meaningful uses outside of basic Email and dedicated programs. If it's a windows98 machine, it could have another 3 years or more left!;) (I'm hoping..:stunned:):P
  3. Since mine does this too (I was a little freaked out at first..) - I think it's just normal - maybe a tinsy winsy bit of radio frequency interference coming from the mouse line, or maybe with the card, and it's picked up somehow by the audio system. It sounds like a ball rolling on felt..:) I'm still trying to get over the sound the computer makes with the fans running - it sounds like that sound you hear when swimming underwater - either the fish make noises, or it's from the boat motor props.. Oscillating beat frequencies that go in and out of sync.. I know how you feel - it's like: "what the heck is doing that??":laugh3:
  4. I'm just sitting here watchin' the wheels go 'round and 'round... Good Night To All, and To All a Good Night!;)
  5. Feist - 1234:) Keane's pretty cool..
  6. Thanks Erin - Hmm.. Doctor Who meets Shawn of the Dead?:laugh3: That's funny - instead of saving the world - we'll sit back, have a cup of tea, and wait for this whole thing to blow over! (I have to say - there's a little of all of us in that kind of thinking!:P) Feist sounds nice! Thanks for the clip Briggins!!
  7. It seems to say so on the posting at the beginning! Quite a trip it would be for me and my old jalopy!:laugh3: I wish I lived in a major metropolis sometimes.. It's pretty far, but I'll consider it!!
  8. Wow, lots of new acts out there!! For me, it boils down to: Coldplay U2 Foo Fighters and a wild assortment of others too numerous to select from!
  9. U2 will be in Chicago on the 7th and 9th of May. Still, about 285 miles south of here - and the traffic would be a perilous adventure.. Should I go? Is there still time to get tickets?? I've never been to a rock concert - what's it like to be in the audience? (Well, I did got to SummerFest in Milwaukee a number of years ago, but that was more like wandering from place to place, hearing a lot of acts simultaneously.. and plenty of beer!:P) My memory is a bit hazy..
  10. Bummer - the flu is no fun at all!! (I like your advice - we'll sit back; have a cup of tea; and wait for all this to blow over..):) I'm not familiar with Feist.. I do like mellow music at night - will give them a listen..;) Hmm.. first song in 2007? Gadzooks! Memory only goes back two weeks! I was in a coma then.. Let's see. Hmm.. maybe I was listening to Eastern Energy. First thing in 2008 - probably "For You" by Coldplay; or possibly "Moses"..:)
  11. I'm a bit old-fashioned - I like to have a solid, tangible disk, which shines like a mirror ball on the one side, and has some ancient printing on the other that harkens to a day of solid bakalite (later vinyl). It just feels real to me; otherwise it's a little too lost in the ether..:vanish:
  12. I could go either way. Amish or HighTech - I'm not sure which is the better path. In the one sense, the simple life has it's appeal; but then that gets dull, and it's nice to see the dazzling world. Maybe there will be a better way in the future? I think Coldplay voices this ambivalence we all have today.. Anyhow, high definition TV sounds great - how many train robberies will I need to have accomplished to buy one of these gems??:laugh3:
  13. I think that you are not an amateur. I really mean that. I liked your poem - it is very deep and very meaningful about relationships, crushes, and how we feel at different times. Kinda of a dream-weaver type experience. Thanks for sharing!:)
  14. A second posting (pardon me - I did not see this right away!!).:) The Wind Whisle Knits together the threads of human experience into one beautiful canvas; a sail cloth catching the winds of change; propelling one spirit, vessel, and soul with expert guidance -On a powerful sea; the journey; *the future of what will be*
  15. Computer Generated clay-mation??:)
  16. The Wind Whislte Knits together the threads of human experience into one beautiful canvas; a sailcloth catching the winds of change; propelling spirit, vessel, and soul with expert guidance -on a powerful sea- the journey; *the future of what will be*
  17. We will now resume our regularly scheduled program, already in progress..
  18. Do the leaves change color there?? Or, does everything just stay green and growing??:elf:
  19. scorcherland >>Thanks Emma! Holy Tamales! That's Hot Hot Hot!! Everything there should be running on solar!!!:sunny::thumbsup:
  20. That's not fair!:laugh3: Antarctica is covered with water, and as it melts, it'll just be ocean and islands!:P (I suppose, going by precipitation.. But where do you draw the line? To me, the only true deserts are places with spiny plants and tough critters; or drier!) The Empty Quarter is big, that's true. Pardon - I meant Sahara - although the African plains seem like deserts to me as well... OK smartypants:P, which is: (a). the driest desert?? (b). the Hottest on record??
  21.#1 Guesses: Mongolia (Gobi)?? Africa (Serenghetti?)?? Australia (The Outback):)?? (Truthfully, half of North America looks parched enough to be the largest..) I'm going with Gobi, David, just because it sounds the strangest. What about Death Valley? Now there's a place to avoid in summer!!:P
  22. You lost me on that reference - Aussie TV - I only know Paul Hogan! Anywhohow, it's a great line, that's for sure!! I can believe it, though - we get our summers when the earth is the farthest from the sun; you get your summers when the earth is at its closest to ze' sun. Do you fry things on the sidewalks?? Probably a great place for a solar cooker - I made one once from an old satellite dish (covered with aluminum foil), and I used it to roast hot-dogs - worked like a charm!! Anyhow, keep cool Emma! (Lore too!)
  23. You seem to be very fluent in English! (My Spanish is for the birds!) Anyhow, Happy New Year!!:)
  24. :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: HaHaHaHa!! God, you're funny!! 3/4 of a mile? Wow, I suppose at that distance, aircraft have to be careful - heck, birds might get too close! Good one!! Chile has it's fair share of deserts (some are the driest spots in the world), but a wetter coast. I have always imagined it like a super-scrunched coastal mountain land, where it goes from pleasant to harsh in about...3/4 of a mile!:laugh3:
  25. 49 minutes, and so far, so good!:laugh3:
