When I listen to their music and videos - Radiohead's - I just think: "how could they think anyone is any weirder than they are?" (Well, I suppose there are the dark-minded neo-cons that run the world in some bad bad ways, comparing ugly and uglier scenarios about who to bomb next) But aside from "them", I just think they probably love it all. We are all a bit voyeuristic in one way or another, so what a more interesting window for an artist to look into? Anyhow, they like feeling a bit weird, I think. Music is an outward expression of how we feel at the moment, and so I'm sure they are fascinated by odd feelings that are often not expressed in mainstream culture. And I love the antlers on Thom! It really brightens him up a lot!!:)

Coldplay will go through a U2 - type phase change, I think. Their music is great - if it were not so, nobody would have listened in the first place!:laugh3: And besides, where would all the posters go??:P

Initially, I thought the only thing good off of Parachutes were their recognizable hits; listening to them all, I can see how many great songs never hit big in the charts! (Really fascinated with high speed at the present)!

I can relate to getting an "overdose" of Coldplay's music as well! I've been varying my musical interests - hearing a lot of great Elton John, Little River Band, Clapton, and (don't laugh too hard) ABBA! U2 quite a bit as well.. One thing - I didn't really listen to much of Coldplay's earlier works; going back and discovering gems that somehow missed radio over-play made their music great again for me. Personally, I like Radiohead, but they're more of an aquired taste. I have heard them since their start; missed quite a few years in-between, and started listening again. As for creativity they're great, but not as good a listen as Coldplay, or the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. (and, I just can't imagine Radiohead being top rated on the internet! Are they really that good, or just so different that listeners are drawn to them?)

If we try and compare apples to oranges.. To me, there are only great bands and bands working on polishing their "diamonds in the rough" so to speak. It takes time to do that, and lots and lots of guts and perseverence. I give them all enormous credit. It would be like picking a favorite color - and what would the rainbow look like missing the rest?:)
