Bank Holiday - what is this? The US has no such things, as far as I know.. Our Post Offices close for minor holidays, but Bank Holidays?
  4. Where's the loop, and which lamp?:P
  5. Where in Michigannn, Mandy?:)
  6. Freedom of Expression trumps dictators! Keep thy rolley-eyes! YEA~!!
  7. With all likelihood, change is just around the corner - I just grow impatient sometimes - especially when I see what I've seen lately.. Thanks for the words of encouragement!
  8. I like to listen to what fits the occasion best - so I vary quite a bit! Everything on average; one thing at a time. Variety is the Spice of life.:chef:
  9. Sometime later, in reality land.. If all we are is what we do, then why define all that counts as only work? If I fix faucets and roofs, move refrigerators and clean cabins, yet consider the impacts of chlorinated hydrocarbons on human health, am I still just a handyman, or more? If I have thought about and acted on changing the dynamics of the relationship we hold with the environment, is this not part of who I am?? I just think sometimes we stunt our potential, and diminish the significance of what we're capable of, when we get too focused on daily nuts and bolts (not to say that isn't important; just that we need to keep broadening our horizons..) Anyhow, that's what I do - whatever I'm asked to do! But beyond that lies an imagination and creativity capable of fathoming nanoparticle improvements to silicon solar cells, implications of the reliance on heavy metals in our economy, and getting involved in restoring fair-play to the US political process, to the maximum extent possible. Long shots tho they may seem; but without hope, we only have backwards to go.
  10. I am starting this thread to allow everyone a chance to speak their mind, heart and soul. If there's one thing we need, it's a chance to say what we're really feeling, without all the static. That's what Coldplay's music embodies eloquently, and it's a sorely needed exercise in this often repressive world. So I will begin: In a planet of people aware of the consequences of disparities between rich and poor; north and south: Why do we echo the errors of the past so long? Is it human nature to follow patterns, regardless of their flaws; are we to be myopic, or far-sighted? Is it fear of change (of mindsets)? Are we capable of being driven by foresight, or condemned to repeat the mistakes, be there ever slowly ebbing and flowing waves of change?? Or have we crossed a threshold, and have to wait for the wave to reach a distant shore of reality? Many things should have changed by now; yet we plunge deeper into insanity with the environment; with wars and instability; with rips in the fabric of human compassion and true greatness - the higher aspirations we have so near, yet our insecurities seem to keep us locked-up in shackles? I know motivations are ofen driven by immediacy - what can be done to change this? How do we steer the chaos? Help give me hope in this corner of earth - I'm tired of the apathy and the irrationality of the modern cult of limited thinking. With All Sincerity, -Chuck.
  11. Chocolate melted & poured on top of chocolate ice-cream. And a spoon.
  12. Hmm.. it's still above 80. Maybe I'll go soak my legs in the stream!
  13. So I began to wonder .. Hmm.. If mating with a non-vegetarian means having sex with all the animals that person may have consumed, then what sorts of baggage do vegetarians carry? Do you mate simultaneously with all the zucchini and pine nuts, eggs, and tofu they've ever chomped down?:) what about all the grasshopper legs and other insect parts that get ground up in the wheat bread - does this give one more 'kick' to love-making?:laugh3: Seriously though, I usually dine vegetarian - hence the pear shape.:) What are everyone's thoughts on this subject?
  14. I love the semi-randomness of it all! Thinking... is it OK to use thoroughly-washed burlap potato sacks to filter wild cherry wine??:laugh3:
  15. Artists probe pretty deep into subconscious and conscious mind as thoughts wander in and out. Sounds like serious church music in the beginning.. I think it's about a common person's failings in life - and the loss friends feel when this person dies. And, perhaps, a message about the potential we all have; that we need to rise above our failings, and take energy from the enthusiasm of the music of this song, so we might some day make something of our lives. And I think, a reference to the spirititual plane, and it's connection to light, and the image often projected as heaven - sunlight streaming down from a break in a cloud. (and the funeral pyre?). I often thought about the suffering of victims of Chernobyl's disaster - lights from electricity made from Nuclear fuel; and the effects of invisible radiation ("light") on the bones of those who suffered . And modern medicine and remediation will try and fix those afflicted, for generations to come.. Maybe this is woven into the song's fabric as well??
  16. Wow, I had no clue Game Boys were so important!:) Hmm.. Something you didn't know about me.. I ate a grey striped zucchini today, fresh from the garden!:hat::wacky::)
  17. Maybe listen to some good ol' fashioned Rock and Roll! That always cheers me up!! & THE MAJIC OF COLOR?:):joker::jester:
  18. Pianos all sound different, even if they are the same style of instrument - perhaps the same is true with guitars (?). Try a bunch, and see which ones you like the best, I would say. Yes, I agree wholeheartedly - their acoustic playing is fantastic - it might be worth the while to contact Debs Wild as was previously suggested... Anywhichway, the best to you!
  19. False! TNP likes dark rock opera:)!
  20. Maybe a great album is more important than touring?? It could take years...:laugh3:
  21. Perhaps by the time the earth is boiled like an egg by the sun, humans, and whatever life remains that can be toted along, will be safely far enough removed from the sun's energy and thriving in some distant local, using fusion reactors to generate the energy to keep it all warm and sunny..
  22. Good bye - and good riddance! This is not a forum for profane, ignorant idiots (in reference to the last message).
  23. The problem, as I see it, is that our own governments have been lying to us, and it gets harder and harder to believe them when there is a real threat. Same for their lapdog corporate media. Anyone remember Uranium Yellowcake? The Downing Street Memo? Media afraid to ask the tough questions before the war, knowing their corporate masters would disapprove..? So, unlike WWII, there's a lot of phoney BS to sift through..
