Finally finished watching it. United didn't press enough when they had counter-attack breaks in the first half. Valencia or a striker should've been in for Park. City were the better squad despite the lack of fireworks throughout. silly billy.

Wow, you're the first I've heard this from. He's a great player, but I'm not sure how he'll fit in with Van Persie. Podolski typically plays as a #9, so Persie may have to play underneath him :edit: nm, not sure why I'd assume they'd be on the pitch at the same time. He'd make a great super-sub. I see Podolski as something like a Wondolowski (mls reference no one gets), where he's the essentially the only player on a very average team that can score goals, so his stats get inflated by the sheer fact that the whole attack is directed at him. I don't think he'll necessarily be a flop, but I expect him to score less often than some expect. I see why they're picking up another central striker, but they better pick up some decent wing-backs before next season.

I doubt he'll get much game time, for starters. I expect they think they're getting a modric, but Marin's game is so fitted to the tight diamond that Bremen plays, that I'm not convinced he'll translate well into Chelsea's system.

There really aren't 'that' many dates in general, and most of them are festivals. I have zero doubt that they're gonna come back around again after europe.

Sharon Van Etten's live show was perfect. Every detail of the mix was spot on; funny banter. At the end of the main set they played a 10 minute version of 'I'm wrong' where the lead guitarist's tearing up a cello bow, the drummer is improvising jazzy riffs and sharon is screwing around with atmospheric effects. All that led seamlessly into 'A Joke or a Lie' which felt more like 'Gitardjamm' than the album version. Oh, and Flock of Dimes (Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak) opened with a really epic electro-rock act. I talked to her afterwards, and apparently there's going to be an LP under that name coming out this summer.

:thinking: yeah, weird. I was working during the match, and so avoided the internet until I finished the replay on FSC. I strongly disagree with the first penalty call. Alaba's arm was mostly behind his body, and he was just trying to keep his balance as he was falling over. I was distraught when Robben missed a sitter he could've chested in after Alaba puts in a gorgeous run and cross. Munich's central defense was weak for most of it, but especially in the second half the had such an easy time moving across midfield with their superior wingbacks while Madrid just couldn't keep possession or string passes together anywhere near as well. Ribery was terrific, Gomez (to Reilly's glee no doubt) was surprisingly weak. Definitely should've taken it one touch with that pass from Robben. Not anticipating extra-time, I forgot to record the next slot, so I missed extra-time, but saw the highlight of the late madrid penalty appeal. Did anything really change? Overall Munich deserved to win. They'll have the advantage in the final, and I'll get to rub my prediction in the face of the nobody who cares.
