  1. So between the discovery of [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brs86zz1OcM&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - ‪Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall - Coldplay live at Rock im Park in Nuremberg 2011‬‏[/ame] and this vid of the other new one [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kSmOxnBXxg&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - ‪Coldplay New Song‬‏[/ame] I feel like I can officially write off this album altogether. Fucking hell. It's different alright, in that they took out everything that was still remotely enjoyable about coldplay and dove headfirst into the kind of nonsense fans wanted to get rid of. While I made some excuses for some VLV tracks, there doesn't seem to be any forgiving this one.
  2. I was actually referring more to the album. But yeah, amazing song.
  3. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXmKpB9dn3c]YouTube - ‪Au Revoir Simone - Fallen Snow‬‏[/ame]
  4. Funny that Friedel should sign with Tottenham. I know everyone was talking about how they needed to replace Gomes, but at 40 I'm not sure if they'll let Brad start or not.
  5. Civilian by Wye Oak is just brilliant.
  6. Review: 1. A steel drum synth, delayed guitar and a high woman's voice. I like the instrumentation and parts of the melody, but I can't really get into it. 2. A repeating cello pattern switching from ear panel to ear panel. Accompanied by I think a banjo and random percussive noises. This is really cool. 3. Glitchly percussion and soft, high, male voices. Interesting feel, I like it. Particularly the way the vocals relate to the odd synths and effects going on around it. 4. dueling glitchy guitar sounds. Drums and keyboards enter. This is also interesting, but starts to lose its novelty near the end. Kind of tiresome without distinct chords at the base, but enjoyable nonetheless. 5. single guitar playing an echo-y pattern. joined by keyboards. Really calming vibe. Enter Powerful distorted guitar. I'm sure that wherever this is from, it's probably the last song on the album. Very strong post-rock, EITS-esque vibe, I definitely like it. Does drag on a bit though...everything after 4:57 just seems unnecessary and uninteresting. 6. Change of pace. Consonant picked acoustic guitars, followed by piano and keyboard. A strong Balmorhea or even Album Leaf vibe. This is really nice, thanks! 7. Some heavy distorted bass overdubbed with delayed guitar feedback. Another interesting one, The use of feedback is pretty cool, vaguely mogwai-ish, though it gets pretty monotonous by the end. Thanks all the same. 8. This is an awesome one (also the longest @ over 9 minutes), and reinforces the idea that whoever made this did a lot of research, as I imagine most people wouldn't enjoy this quite as much as I do. Distant drone of rapidly played piano fades in. Bass and guitar fuzz comes in to an ambient back-drop. Reminds me a lot of Christian Fennesz or Tim Hecker. Really immersive. Fuzz stops, and then the whole thing slowly crackles and dies. Good stuff, and I really want to find who each of these artists are. 9. Holy crap, a human voice! Just a short field recording though. A synth melody followed by distorted fifths and female vocals. Sorry, after the first minutes I've kind of written it off, not a fan of the style or her voice. *keeps listening* yeah, sorry. I understand how the intense backdrop fits with the other tracks, but it's the first real miss on this mix, for me. I feel as though this tape was made largely with my own taste in mind. I didn't recognise any of the artists, but most of it is instrumental with a very prominent post-rock vibe. 10. Picked acoustic guitar and a nice british voice enter. I like the arrangement. The verse chorus structure and intimate atmosphere, feel like comforting handrails after the long stretch of linear instrumentals. This is lovely, and I think I should know who this is. 11. Acoustic guitar, with an electric guitar supplying a bass line, and another british sounding voice. The chord arrangement is definitely interesting. This is perfectly good in my book. Thanks! 12. Heavier jam-band vibe. Hate to end on an off-note, but this was kind of a dud for me. Like 9, I hate the vocals. It does improve a bit though. The last couple minutes are pretty enjoyable. So thanks a lot for a truly fascinating mixtape. As I mentioned before, I feel as though much of this was customized to my taste. It was a very long 12 tracks, due to the lengthier instrumentals, which I think were my favorite part. It was a really enjoyable and delightfully eclectic mix. Please post the tracklist soon!
  7. So I'm in San Francisco for the summer, and just saw that The Album Leaf is playing tomorrow within walking distance tomorrow night. Unfortunately it has a 21 age limit, which is ridiculous because because I'm 20 and have no intention of drinking. I'll see if I can get in anyways. If not, it's a major bummer...
  8. saw this on ESPN. Hockey player picks up hitchhiking Bono If Bono needed a ride, would you give him one? Edmonton Oilers Gilbert Brule did, during a rainstorm Tuesday in Vancouver, British Columbia. The U2 frontman and his assistant were walking in West Vancouver on Tuesday when they got caught in the rain. Brule and his girlfriend, Kelsey Nichols, were driving to a park to walk Bella, their German shepherd. Nichols, who was driving, didn't believe Brule at first when he spotted Bono by the side of the road, so she kept driving. The couple went a short distance until Brule convinced Nichols to turn around. Eventually, she agreed. They gave Bono a lift. And Bono gave them tickets and backstage passes to his show Wednesday night in Edmonton, which they then flew to see. "We go to walk our dog and Bono ends up in our car," Brule told the Edmonton Journal. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2011/06/hockey-player-picks-up-hitchhiking-bono/1
  9. will's my fave.
  10. it's funny how they'll disappear into the studio with Eno and be like hay guise dis album iz gonna be sooper amazin n experimental and such. Will's messin wit crazy new time signatures blah blah Jonny's messin with crazy keyboard sounds blah blah, Eno's got us switching instruments and doin crazy avant-garde shit blah blah... and then when they come back to daylight the music is as cheesy and uninteresting as ever. Obviously they ain't no radiohead or animal collective, but as far as coldplay goes, this don't look too good fellas (but I might be wrong).
  11. Feel about the way I did when the last album had to come out and I had to stomach the ridiculous title "viva la vida or death and all his friends', though probably worse. Martin's lyrics have been deteriorating for years, so its not unexpected. What's more unnerving is that it feels like it's gonna be a fast track in which Chris is almost rapping the verse. /cringe
  12. may I sig this, Mr. burns?

  15. I'm genuinely curious about the next album, though my expectations aren't high.
  16. music choices in fanmade highlight videos never fail to crack me up /random.
  17. me three.
  18. I'll be shocked if the canucks don't win. Regardless of who wins game 7, the quality of the boston-tampa bay series has been very weak imo.
  19. Hey Richard, I thought you were dead...
  20. Ja, I have to say the second vid is more impressive, or at least more interesting.
