  1. what about any bands playing their own music?...do you know any of those bands?
  2. ^^ Cheeky :cheesy: hehe
  3. i always go to local gigs...there's so much shit around. i hate the thousands of new Skater bands who play the guitar in their bedrooms while taking a break from holding and carrying skate boards, or just wearing the clothes and chains...and then form a band..and get gigs and have a few friends at the front, jumping into one another and cheering..and they've asked to support another local band who are really trying to be the best they can. well done Rob W my bitterness aside...I like the idea of this thread [if it isn't bombarded with spam] i like finding out about new bands!!
  4. i pretty much hate Linkin Park..i've heard a few ok songs by JayZ..but for a mash up...i think these songs fit quite well together..was it JayZ who put them together, or some other random 3rd party
  5. I'm going to be boring, and say i don't think you can compare the bands. Radiohead have released 6 albums, to Coldplays 2. Their styles are different. If Coldplay release another 4 very good quality albums, then it's considerable to compare, but even still..it's comparing two different types of band. but...that's only my opinion of course..it's a good question to ask, i'm sure coldplay will win though, with it being a Coldplay forum
  6. keep practicing man!...i found barre chords harder to perfect as opposed to those chords i wrote. it's all about muscle memory i think!
  7. ha..that was quite a funny presentation. it was on about 1 minute in total..i'm recording the whole awards, it's possible i could put it to my computer and then give it to someone to upload somewhere...but i'll wait to see if it's downloadable anywhere else first. just out of pure laziness really :snore:
  8. How do you know whether Guy is reading this? I'm sure he's got better things to do, especially now that he's married. i was being insanely sarcastic...i thought the picture was a give away ---> ':laugh1:' berrychen: how the hell should I know!! I just work here ^^ haha :D
  9. ha..that's exactly the same as my experience of that festival..i was at Staffordshire too! During the foo Fighters, everyone around us was saying some guys eye fell out of socket. :borg: Really! I didn't happen to see the Eye, i just saw some guy being lifted out, covering his eyes. anyway, that's one time i saw them, and the rest are: 31.05.00 -- University, Newcastle; UK [supporting Muse] Newcastle Telewest Arena - 8th October 2002 [supported By Idlewild] Wednesday 16th 2003 - London Earls Court [supported By Feeder & Ian Mcculloch]
  10. Every so often it's shown on MTV2 every so often...i bet they have a coldplay weekend at some pointcloser towards the album release and show it. it was an excellent show though...i thought...but, i remember reading this review from the bcc website: There is still something lacking in their performance. They are like a teenage striker thrust into the Premiership, holding their own but showing their naivety every so often. One day they will be up among the stadium rock greats like U2 and Oasis, but that day is yet to come. It was, to pull the footballing analogy further along, a concert of two halves, mainly down to the fact that the assembled masses were simply waiting to singalong to Yellow from the start. That's the punters that stadium gigs attract and that's the reason why Coldplay aren't there yet. When they have recorded a few more albums, they will be able to drop the album fillers like Daylight and Green Eyes from the show and everyone will be able to sing and sway from start to finish. When this could happen, Coldplay looked every bit as if they deserved to be on an arena stage. In front of four screens and on a stage edged with blue lights, Chris Martin (and to a lesser extent, the rest of the band) took a while to get going. From the opening punch of Politik, the gig looked set to drag, particularly when Martin stopped a shimmering Trouble to request a singalong, something that destroyed the glory of the tune in one swoop. But from the hilarious cover of Nelly's Hot In Herre onwards, the show began to produce, soaring with the undeniably glorious Yellow (with the crowd lifting the roof in response), stunning with the heart-wrenchingly gorgeous The Scientist, and showing the band's glory in the soon to be classics, A Rush Of Blood To The Head and In My Place. Singalongs, screams and unbridled adoration. The sell-out crowd at the MEN Arena believe that Coldplay, with only a handful of hits and great tunes behind them, have made it. The truth, however, is a little below that mark. http://www.bbc.co.uk/manchester/music/2002/10/12/coldplay_review.shtml [that's the source of it]
  11. well...not that i play it, but, if i was too...then i'd play it: [with the E A D G B D G - 320000 Em - 022000 Bm - 7X0770 F - 133210 Am - X02210 G - 320000 Try that..see if you think it sounds any better..on the F chord, you'll have you use your thumb for the thickest string on the first fret..or if some peoples thumbs don't stretch that far..then, it doesn't really matter.
  12. isn't he a she? :D
  13. Yeah i agree that it's a thousand times better if the artist actually changes the songs..., and i probably was a bit harsh on him...having only seen him that one time. i didn't know any of tha background on him
  14. Yeah..there doesn't come much more insaner than me :blank: I didn't say i didn't like the Croons...I just don't see why they become famous, i think there's a place for them..and Leterman isn't it. [in my opinion] . Also..Thanks for my information, but i didn't say he didn't write any songs of his own, i just stated that they become famous for singing other peoples songs. Although, i bet i don't like 'Home'. I too like Uplifting and even Big Band music and music influenced from Big Band styles..like Ornette Coleman, the latest CD i bought was Ornette Coleman - The Shape Of Jazz To Come. i also like Thom Yorke, Chris Martin, Damien Rice [i've not heard of Rufus...]...and i agree, Variety is not a bad thing. :)
  15. ah that's for the knowledge Ian! The hightlights of the NME awards are on tomorrow night at 11:35 on Channel 4 and have performances from The Bravery, The Others, Pete Doherty and Bloc Party...it probably will feature Chris then if he made a video message. Sir Christopher Martin :toff:
  16. I don't really like people who get famous for just singing other people's songs...he was on Letterman the other night, singing Feeling Good, His set of musicians were good, as with most single 'artists' like that, [ = Elvis ;) ] but...unless it's a variety show of some sort, then i wouldn't want to see them on TV. :smash: He should be performing on a big Cruise ship or something. Finally, i don't think there's anything much greater about his voice as opposed to other singers of the same catorgary, which dont make it famous, so why him. i'd never really heard of him until Letterman last night [in the UK]. Maybe i'm being too harsh on the guy :hair: [Edit]...one last point...i dont' think BBC 2 is all too bad :beatnik:
  17. I grieve too...for the amount of moaning girls [and maybe boys] that are going to be crying over nothing.. :P Muhahaha i say...well done Guy! [i know he's reading this... :laugh1: :smoking: ]
  18. http://www.supersonic.net/guitar/lessons.htm here's a good site Owenrees number 73
  19. i get it all man ;) i think i understand your angry and feeling of being insulted.
  20. ah well, it's no trouble, i'm sure with a bit of work i could find it on the internet somewhere. If you Want to tape it, that would just be saving me a tiny bit of work..but if not...there's no hard feeling :D :cheesy:
  21. you seem to be the only one replying at this hour...will you be recording it?
  22. Hey, i've watched Idlewild twice...and have a few photos of him is anyone is a really big fan and wants me to scan and send them. i saw them once supporting Coldplay, and another time headlining a University near to me. i actually preferred the support band 'Eska' but Idlewild were still really good..i didn't really know much of their music at that point. That was actually my first gig too!! I was quite late in going to see my first band, 16 i think. :blank:
  23. there's probably a 0% chance. but...i may aswell ask.. :) will anyone be recording it, and maybe can pass it to Ian who could host it? or..if Ian doesn't want it...then, i would mind it. i can swap it for any other gigs thank you in advance, and thanks for the notice 'Martinjr'
  24. hey, sorry to bring back this thread, but, i went to have a look at Q, and while in the shop, i looked at the front cover, and didn't see any mention, and thought it was odd, because i would have thought they'd have at least a small picture or his name on the front to entice readers/shoppers. So I flicked through the magazine, and couldn't see any interview with Mr Bucky, so does this mean i've missed the issue, or has it not came out yet :/ it's only February 18th, so i can't see why they'd either have not released this months yet, or be passed February, and gone on to the March issue. can someone clear this up for me :/ :) thank you.
  25. I thought i'd put what i believe to be the tunings for the album parachutes. Standard = E A D G B E Don't Panic - Standard Shiver - D# B G B A E Spies - C# B G C# A E Sparks - E A D G B D [A Capo on the 6th from for the Acoustic Guitar] Yellow - D# B G B A E Trouble - E A D G B D [on the acoustic and Electric] Parachutes - D# B G B A E High Speed - D B G D G D Everything's Not Lost - Electric Guitar is Standard. [no Acoustic] Life Is For Living - D B G D A E .what use are the tunings without the chord shapes i hear someone ask. well actually, finding the tunings would be the hardest i think, it's really late, so i'm going to post the chord shapes, but i will sometime when i have the time to type them all out. Until Then, Try and figure them out. :) Hope that helps some of you's :elf: Link
