  1. ^ This... Twice and w/headphones...
  2. I couldn't agree more. This review sounds more like an obligation, giving it an above average score just in-case it turns out to be a solid pop album. Obviously, Coldplay, and this type of music are not the reviewers cup of tea, hence no reference to "stand-out" tracks. They just rushed a hurried review to print so they could be first and have it out of the way. Shame...
  3. Does anyone else think he is singing:?? As the room is spinning, GO! We're un-wired, We'll be glowing in the dark... and So we're so luminous un-wired... We'll be glowing in the dark... It's just me maybe, but it's what I hear. I do hear run wild the first time he sings it, but I hear un-wired the other two times. Especially during the Jimmy Kimmle performance...
  4. The killer bass line from Guy and the thumping bass drum from Will are often overlooked as well... Just listened to the studio version again and it rattled the windows. Would love to hear this live right after Politik!
  5. This is the best thread Ive read since I stopped lurking (again) for so long. Even though it saddens me that so many don't appreciate the new direction and the uplifting and refreshing vibe of ETIAW. I get nothing but pure pleasure every time I see Chris pumping his fist in the air when they perform it live. Ive always skipped The Hardest Part and will probably do the same when the chorus of Paradise begins, but that's just me and my tastes. MM studio isn't for everyone, but for me it's HELLS BELLS, baby! We are all different... I hope we will all remain fans of something off MX... One of the un-terrified, and still excited...
  6. Love this song. It confuses me why more don't like it, as well. What mystifies me even more is all the hate over the studio version. The guitar sounds louder and more vibrant (to me) in the studio version. It's more pronounced. Chris' voice being altered is in context with the song and it's lyrics. I have a feeling that people are going to feel the same way about the backing tracks in HLH and CB and start dissing the whole album as "over produced", and pull the whole "it's not Parachutes or ROBTH" argument out again. Me? I am loving everything we have heard thus far... Even some of Paradise, but MM is one of the best tracks for me too.
  7. Nothing will ever top that. Whole new appreciation for the song now.
  8. Would be nice if it had a fast forward button, but Hurts Like Heaven is too good to pass up... One more time for me, perhaps.
  9. Hurts Like Heaven 53 Charlie Brown 25
  10. Hurts Like Heaven 54 Charlie Brown 24
  11. For me the Para para paradise is way too repetitive... The lyric could have gone sooo many other ways. For example, they could have gone like this - She dreamed of waking in another life, running wild in a Pardise. They could have fleshed out the chorus with more lyrics. The piano is quite noticable to me and the production values are pretty solid.
  12. I'd have rather heard the studio version of UIF on the EP and been pleasantly surprised by MTM once MX dropped. Totally get what you are saying and agree completely.
  13. For me it's the "bathroom break" at the live shows... It's throwback Coldplay, a filler b-side and kind of cheesy.
  14. 1. Major Minus 2. ETIAW 3. Hurts Like Heaven 4. Charlie Brown 5. Moving To Mars 6. Paradise 7. Us Against The World
  15. My first post in a long time... I've always been a fan of "innovative pop music". Radio pop? Not so much. Where I live there isn't a radio station that plays the music I want to hear. Upon hearing Yellow, I thought "What a great POP tune!" I was an instant fan of Coldplay's and have been ever since. Always changing their sound and becoming more inventive with each new album. Even though Paradise does not fall within my definition of "innovative pop" and is my least favorite track, so far... I am really put off by the negativity of some of the members of this site. I quit posting and started lurking because too many of us were so negative. Coming back after giving the site a break this past year it's a shame to see that it has gotten so much worse in some cases. Especially when it comes to ETIAW... When I first heard X&Y, I didn't care for it too much. Now I find the album to be much better than my first impression. The same can be said for ETIAW, though I never hated it like so many others have. Major Minus is my favorite of the studio tracks we have heard so far and ETIAW is a close 2nd. MTM is a cool track and reminds me of Pink Floyd and David Bowie. Can't wait to hear the full studio versions of HLH, CB as their live versions are great pop/rock tunes. While I agree with many that Paradise is sort of bland, the rest of the songs are by no means IMO, "too poppy"... They sound fresh, exciting and logically the direction Coldplay have been taking. Even though Parachutes and AROBTH are arguably two of the greatest albums ever cut, more of the same would have become dreary and depressing, if you ask me. I am glad that many of the new tunes or rockers, innovative pop and uplifting ----> (see Major Minus). Otherwise their live shows would risk becoming overloaded with long ballads and quite frankly, slow and boring...
  16. The filtered vocals suit the song perfectly for me. The drums, bass line and crashing guitar crunch just ROCK! 9/10 because the lingering guitar echo from the live version is sadly omitted.
  17. Bring on the rest of the NEW music! Coldplay is rocking!
