  1. to be honest i actually still prefer nevermind to Ten and Vitalogy (which are my two favourite pearl jam albums) but thats the only nirvana album i absolutely love whereas i would very highly rate at least 5 PJ albums, including their latest work. but nirvana will go down as the more influential. i was 4yrs old when these two were at the top of their game :)
  2. ^^ Muse @ Sydney BDO 2004 - 2 shows 2007- 1 show 2010- 2 shows BDO veterans?
  3. ^^ wow cant believe i forgot A Day In The Life. trumps everything else IMO.
  4. i don't think anybody here would be brave enough to argue that nirvana wasnt that band that sent grunge into the mainstream. but the reason why i think pearl jam is the better band is because they went well beyond that sound in their careers and continue to do that very successfully, just look at the responses their latest album has received.
  5. the mod on the big day out forum reported 5mins. i'm going to take that as the official time. but i'm not a big fan of them allocating a certain amount to ticketmaster and the rest to their website. if their aim is to reduce the traffic on the website, they've failed miserably because the second 9am releases have had no impact whatsoever on the number of people who access the site to buy tickets at midnight. UPDATE: TIcketmaster is horribly slow at the moment. But you can at least get through unlike for the Sydney shows. And could they stop acting as if this second Sydney show thing is a totally unplanned spur of the moment decision. they knew there would be the demand which is why there is a 4 day gap between sydney and melbourne. they didnt add a show cos they screwed up, they added it for the same reason coldplay did 4 shows in sydney. DEMAND. simple economics aint that right alex.
  6. i'm off to bed for now. hope your confirmation comes through soon. <------- = BDO 2010 the official website has died. EDIT: Adelaide on sale now. what seems to be a couple of minutes early. Time To Beat : 5mins set by Melbourne
  7. ^^ that might take upto 2hrs to get through to you. but it sounds like you're in the clear. it will be hard to get the bands to agree to a second melbourne show also. might get a little tiring.
  8. ITS OVER NEW RECORD 5mins!!
  9. ok melbourne here we go Time To Beat : 12mins set by Gold Coast
  10. i know this has been the big hit and everything. but i cant get enough of Crystalised. Islands is another favourite of mine.
  11. yeah you're totally right. theres a bit of radiohead in their also. quite an interesting sound. i think it had its official american release this week. i hope it goes down well.
  12. and my fave album of 2004 is S/T Franz Ferdinand which ends with 40' SOOOO AWESOME!
  13. listening Foreground by Grizzly Bear made me realise that sooo many of the great albums end with incredible songs. here are my album of year selections recently 2009 - Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear - ends with Foreground 2008- S/T Fleet Foxes - ends with Oliver James 2007 - In Rainbows by Radiohead - ends with videotape 2006- Whatever People Say... by Arctic Monkeys - ends with A Certain Romance 2005- S/T Wolfmother - ends with Vagabond others include Take It or Leave It by The Strokes and Amsterdam by Coldplay. all of the songs i've mentioned are some of my faves of all times. brings truth to the saying, Saving the best for last.
  14. yeah mate got it from JB. it was $18. my local store only had 2 copies of the record.
  15. thanks for that. it's inspired me to start up a new thread.
  16. ^^ finally a post other than mine haha i honestly cant get enough of this album. initially it felt as though im just falling for the hype but after a couple dozen listens, it sounds better than ever. i've just realised how brilliant some of the bass work is. i really like the packaging on the album also.
  17. usually i dont settle for draws. but it will do for now. :) Gold Coast goes on sale in 40mins. EDIT: Gold Cost BDO 2010 sold out. All 50 000 tickets gone in 12mins. Remaining 5000 to be balloted over the next few weeks, 500 at a time. No Sydney Ballot.
  18. cmon its an interesting arguement. Bliss N Eso are by far the best hip hop group in the country next to Horrorshow (also sydney). I'm not a fan of Faker but they wrote some great songs and put on a great live show.
  19. we got Cog, Bliss n Eso, Dappled Cities, Decoder Ring, Faker, Grinspoon, Howling Bells, The Mess Hall, Philadelphia Grand Dury, Pnau, The Presets, Regular John, Seabellies and Wolfmother thats all i can think of now. i wouldnt say melbourne has a weaker scene. but it's a massive misconception that it's much much better.
  20. hack it brother. sydney is better than melbourne. always has been always will be.
  21. they are saying the second sydney show will be the 100th BDO. does that mean the first sydney show is no.99? and that the first melbourne show was meant to be the 100th. or is the Perth show no.99 and then since second sydney was announced later it becomes no.100 ??????
  22. i haven't heard anything about any sort of ballot this time around. so i'm really not sure. the ballot hasnt opened yet. we'll have to wait until all shows are on sale until they start the ballots. in short, no idea whats going on. you can ask around fasterlouder if you want. EDIT: just read the initial press release that came out with the first line up announcement. it says that for the Gold Coast show, 5000 tickets will be put aside for ballots. There is no such comment on any of the other dates.
  23. more so, how old were you in 1993/1994 when both of these bands were at their peak.
  24. awwww isnt that sweet now we're all friends. hug anyone? :)
