reason why the new editors album wasnt featured this week on australian radio. We've played Papillon - the single - a bit and I gave another song off the album a run on the show a few weeks back. Encore Stockholm Syndrome Knights of Cydonia Epic? it still feels as though the shows are a little........short. i was hoping by the time they toured for their 5th album they would be doing 24/25 song sets or at least 20 songs with long improvs. but it doesnt seem like much has changed from their last tour. maybe they're just getting warmed up.

i dunno i just cant imagine radiohead doing our v festival. when they could easily do their own massive headlining tour with their own incredible set. i will still be very surprised if vampire weekend return so quickly, if they had any intention of playing summer festivals down here they wouldnt of done those small club shows in november. passion pit and phoenix seemed like the perfect v festival bands, but what does that even mean. indie rockers franz ferdinand are doing the Future Festival which is predominantly dominated by electronic acts, the killers are doing good vibes which is meant to be about urban party music. festivals no longer have identity. its just about selling as many tickets as they possibly can to whoever they can.

damn double post. J Awards Nominations 2009 (so far) + Bertie Blackman + Hilltop Hoods + Karnivool + Kid Sam + Phrase + Sarah Blasko 6 more album albums to be announced. hate to say this but this years list so far is a joke compared to last years. this time last year we already had the likes of the presets cut copy nick cave cog birds of tokyo on the list with the drones and grates added later.

no i'm not a contributor but i do post on the forum quite often. who would you of tipped to headline V fest. i cant think of anyone who was a realistic chance except Arctic Monkeys.

i would love to see some sideshows from the killers. i was devastated when they didnt do any sideshows for the 2009 v festival. and those dates are very sideshow friendly. speaking of friendly i might wait for a second album from friendly fires before i spend the money to see them. my wallet is growing lighter by the day. i might have to sacrifice seeing placebo so i can go to the killers instead. and the by the sounds of things it wont be saturated with songs from Day & Age so its going to be awesome!

so they're not even considering The Dead Weather? they would constitute "a big announcement" right?

^^ onerepublic sounds like one of those bands who have been on greys anatomy? im a little prejudicial against those bands.

out of those here are my tips - Phoenix (would be soooo awesome) - Gyroscope ( good band but havent done anything particularly awesome) - Passion Pit (surprised they werent on the first line up) - Glasvegas (have they toured aus yet? i quite enjoyed their debut last year) - Julian Casablancas (Serj Tankian of 2010?) Wolfmother and The Presets are too big to joint the line up. they would be demanding a spot like powderfingers on the main stage. of course if either join you wont hear me complaining. flight of the conchords would be very interesting at a big fest. not too sure about vampire weekend coming in november then coming back again within a couple of months.

so what degree of recommendation does the new album come with? should i listen to their earlier stuff first before i get into Embryonic? i've heard alot of interview with Wayne Coyne lately and he sounds like such an interesting guy and has very strong views on music. here is a near 40mins interview he gave to australian alternative music station Triple J this week. http://mpegmedia.abc.net.au/triplej/zan/flaminglips1_pod.mp3 he is soo incredibly fascinating.

woooo go the MOOOTTTHHHAAAA!!! havent listened to the album properly just the 6 or 7 i heard on the triple j and the few i heard at their gig. but its sounding pretty cool. nobody expects them to top their debut especially after all thats happened. and thanks for bumping this thread. alot of people have been getting all excited about the end of 2009 being filled with new releases but i havent really found anything new for ages and cant see anything good coming out anytime soon. so i just wanted to ask, what should i be looking out for?
