  1. who is victoria legrand?
  2. i think its safe to say that the boys have cracked the US market. no.3 on the charts, performing at the VMA's, getting incredible reviews in support of U2 and much more attention than ever before. and congrats to them for doing this without completely selling out or a massive change to their sound.
  3. ^^ ive been meaning to subscribe to jmag for soooo long. i was going to last month when they were giving you a free cd with subscription but one of the cd's they were giving away was Humbug and i was afraid that that was the one they were going to give me so i didnt do it. now this month they dont have any special deal. i've bought last 13 issues haha. lets hope they have something really good with the november issue.
  4. this is going to sound very odd but it is very true. i am scared to listen to ok computer. when i first discovered the album i couldnt get enough of it. but over time i've developed this bizarre emotional connection with it that i kinda fear. its a bit like that girl you really like but you're scared to be with her cos you know shes bad for you. its not that i've grown sick of it, i could quite easily listen to it every day and love it every time, but it does for some unknown reason take an incredible emotional toll on me. i dont get this with any other radiohead album, its just this one. if i had to, i would most probably choose Ok Computer as my favourite album of all time. in my biased yet humble opinion, it is most probably one of the greatest pieces of art ever made. maybe thats why im so afraid of it.
  5. yeah maybe from tomorrow i'll start posting up youtube clips of the best of the best we have to offer. i'll skip cut copy nick cave and eskimo joe cos everyone on here already knows them.
  6. hey guys. i thought i would start up this thread for all us aussie music lovers out there. talk about our awesome artists and bands. all the latest and greatest songs and albums. local and international tours. our very awesome and very unique travelling (and non-travelling ) festival tours. discuss award nights, triple j radio (commercial radio chat not allowed) and our wicked community stations. and whatever else relates to aussie music international people are more than welcome. we are NOT a racist country, dont believe what your media tells you. but if you're from the mother land (england) you have to first confess that in reality we are better than you in cricket. current topics aria award noms are out. soundwave > BDO. wolfmother no.2 over hyped? is urban music now bigger than rock music in aus? MUSIC FROM NEW ZEALAND MORE THAN WELCOME! The Finns = Legends
  7. by the way second sydney BDO sold out now on website and ticketmaster. no ballot
  8. i think we can quite safely say that Soundwave 2010 has trumped BDO 2010. They might not have anyone as big as Muse but Faith No More, Janes Addiction, AFI, Placebo and My Chemical Romance are all bigger than the next biggest name on the BDO line up, Powderfinger. cant wait for placebo sideshows.
  9. awesome list there. im with you on 5 of those. another 3 i would put in my top 3 for that year.
  10. at this stage this is how i rank the beatles album. this is only after a few months of listening to them. 1. Revolver This is in my opinion is their best "rock" album, being a rock music fan its only natural i enjoy this the most. 2. The White Album Would be no.1 had it not been for revolution 909. and it does feel 4 or 5 tracks to long. but then again cant think of many albums that have more than 20 amazing songs. 3. Abbey Road The most amazing thing about this album is that even after producing so many incredible records they still had this in them. 4. Help! An odd choice i know but this seemed like a coming of age for the band especially John, their first 4 records are very american 50s rock saturated but to me this feels like the start of their brilliance. 5.Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band No.5 might seem like an insult but the truth is, if any other band had made this album it would most probably be at number 1 or 2. A Day In The Life would get my vote for greatest ever closing track. 6. A Hard Day's Night This was the record that surprised me the most. It had me completely hooked for weeks. i hate over listening to an album, but i just couldnt stop when i first discovered this album. Painfully pop but never boring. 7. Let It Be gets far too much criticism. with songs like the title track and long and winding road and across the universe this is pretty damn awesome. 8. Rubber Soul not too sure what to say about this one. i might need to listen to it a few more times but Michelle is a really nice song. i might store this list away then do it again this time next year. im pretty certain it will be very different.
  11. ticketmaster site still has tickets available after being open for 6hours. a little surprising i must admit.
  12. havent come across all too many people going twice. not sure about else where in australia but in sydney the issue with scalping is getting alot of attention. the more i think about it the more angry i get!
  13. so basically everything everywhere as has sold out except adelaide still has some ticketmaster tickets left and auckland has alot of tickets left. second sydney show goes on sale in 15mins. im not expecting ticket sales to be as crazy as it was last week. EDIT @ 12:25AM BDO Website sold out. Ticketmaster at 9am. i'm sure that will sell out also, so that means a total of 110 000 tickets gone just in sydney.
  14. there is a 6 day gap between the gold coast show and the sydney. songs like No You Girls and Turn It On have received alot of mainstream attention down here so i would there will be alot of demand for sideshows.
  15. re: future music its very odd how close the dates are too each other. im guessing at least some of the bands on the line up will be doing sideshows??!? whose idea was it to have sydney melbourne adelaide back to back.
  16. oh yeah i remember that being nominated for a grammy award. good track
  17. yeah every show is available through their website. but they do take a little while to go up. https://www.pearljam.com/max latest show is 30/09/2009 in LA
  18. australian tour announced Brisbane – Saturday Feb 27 Perth – Sunday Feb 28 Sydney – Saturday March 6 Melbourne – Sunday March 7 Adelaide – Monday March 8
  19. not sure if this has been brought up or not. this is something aussie fans might be interested in. in that JMag article about the band. at the very end matt says that they are coming for the big day out and also plan to return at the end of the year (2010) for some bigger headlining shows. i hope this is true, they did that the exact same thing in 2004 and 2007.
  20. its an interesting concept, absolutely nothing to do with the song but looks cool. Wheels i guess is just your typical fooey's song but i am getting a little tired of that sound. i love the stuff they did in their first 6 or 7 years as a band but everything since has been very much same same (aside from The Prentender) which for me personally makes their older work a little less interesting also. but Dave will always be the coolest rockstar in the world.
  21. The xx are freakn amazing! theres a bit of radiohead in their sound as well as some interpol like vibe. but to my ears they're pretty damn unique. and well worth checking out.
  22. wooo yeah Revolver!! my favourite.
  23. they've promised identical shows. so thats what they should deliver.
  24. did you see on fasterlouder the reasons people were giving for a second sydney (besides the obvious demand). i thought the best one was that sydney deserved show no.100 simply because the event started in sydney so it's only fitting no.100 is in sydney also.
  25. ^^ interesting. that was my only criticism of the album, that the tracks were a little out of place. otherwise its one of the best albums i've ever heard (Jonny Greenwood says that too, so it must be right) when i get the chance i'll post on the GB appreciation thread what i think the track listing should of been
