  1. cant believe triple j chose to feature mumford & sons over the editors this week. End has a Start was a massive success down here whereas mumford & sons are an ordinary band, at least nothing on the editors.
  2. well the final tickets for the BDO in Australia have been snapped up. news came through early yesterday that only the way people can now buy tickets is through a ballot system which if im not mistaken is available for every city. i think its safe to say that this is the most successful BDO in history which i must admit has taken me by surprise because i still feel that the line up is nothing special at least compared to 2007 and 2008. i think its more to do with the economic climate than the line up.
  3. ^^ whats so funny? almost all of us have made threads for bands who already have one. but 2 in one day is a record.
  4. ^^ are they the only two albums you heard last year?

  7. for me Viva was initially was at No.8 i think but now over a year later its about No.18 to 20. i still enjoy it but last year had soooo many amazing albums. Fleet Foxes S/T is No.1 and after there're about 15 albums which i like equally and cant choose between. now that this thread has started i might sit down and think about it and try and put them in some sort of an order.
  8. ^^ when i read your post i was expecting that you had voted for britney spears and lady gaga or something. but i had a look at your selections (on page 3) and they're very very "not lame". Its Blitz is my second favourite of the year also. regina and NOFX are great too.
  9. you should start a thread about this. it makes for very interesting debate because i think the truly great albums are the ones that age well. imo 2003 and 2007 were the two best years of the decade. but i've been following the music scene for only 3 or so years so im not entirely qualified to pick a year. but thats a debate for the album of the decade thread not album of 2009.
  10. the dates are similar to the future music festival. with brisbane melbourne sydney on back to back days. then the weekend after perth and adelaide on two consecutive days. i'll consider checking out the xx if they do a sideshow but it seems unlikely.
  11. ^^ not for me. the only band on there im really dying to see is The XX but im not forking out $100 or whatever just for them. i love the middle east and dappled cities also but they seem to be playing sydney every few months.
  12. Rosie called tonights Live at the Wireless from Phoenix one of the best of the year for her. i didnt think it had anything on last weeks LATW from Ben folds solo.
  13. everyone dont forget tonight on triple j's live at the wireless. Phoenix recorded live at the Enmore Theatre, Sydney on their splendour in the grass tour earlier this year. starts at 8PM. somebody please record!
  14. ummmm well.................no i wont bother.
  15. the band is about 20 shows into their Backspacer World Tour. so far they have played an incredible 116 DIFFERENT SONGS! including 20 cover versions. http://www.twofeetthick.com/2009/10/geeking-out-on-pearl-jam-tour-stats/
  16. *shakes his fist in anger* actually *shakes both fists in anger*
  17. are they trying to make a statement or something? looks like they just dont give a ##$)$ about making video clips anymore
  18. the ballot for both sydney BDOs has finally been announced. over the next 5 weeks, once every week, 300 people will win the chance to buy a double pass to the event. totalling 3000 tickets ie 1500 for each day.
  19. re: channel v thing. what did i say about commercial media alex!!! last year it was won by Short Stack and now this year by Kisschasy who despite being a good band are no where near our best. a very very poor representation of australian music. so just to make things clear NO commercial tv (exceptions made for the hot chick on channel v:P) NO commercial radio or any other form of commercial media. they are holding australian music back and allowing the country to be saturated by mediocre american pop. also cant wait for the wolfmother and strokes releases. i went in with low exptectations for both but now after hearing a couple of tracks off each, im very very interested. Cosmic Egg was the feature album on triple j this week and sadly was very very poorly received. the band's debut broke all records back in 2005 with 6 songs in the hottest 100 of that year plus winning the inaugural J Award.
  20. this is my fave track by the juggers. its most probably their most well known too. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6SKNEYvZvQ]YouTube - Midnight Juggernauts - Into the Galaxy (OFFICIAL) Dir. KROZM[/ame]
  21. ^^ yeah you've mentioned some really good artists in there. Kisschasy has written some of my favourite songs of this year especially Generation Why. Cat Empire are most probably our best live band even though they dont really have the best singer. Josh Pyke is really great too but he is a bit too mid-tempo-saturated for my liking. I still havent got around to listening to Confetti in full, i've just heard the 5 or 6 songs that have been played on the radio over the last few months and they're all pretty good.
  22. so to all the people who listen to the millions of songs that were posted on here. what do you think? anything you like? any bands you want to learn more about?
  23. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bw1SPWPjjE]YouTube - Arctic Monkeys Dance Little Liar Acoustic CD 101 Session 28th Sept 2009[/ame] doesnt work as well acoustic as it does on cd [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15c02Kc1Ix4]YouTube - Arctic Monkeys Cornerstone Acoustic CD 101 Session 28th Sept 2009[/ame] there's a few acoustic versions of this track going around. i really like this one. oh yeah some of you might be interested in this [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIQz6zZi7R0]YouTube - Arctic Monkeys - 'Cornerstone' (Official Video)[/ame]
  24. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH-77yEYqQQ]YouTube - Wolfmother New Moon Rising Jools Holland Later Oct 13 2009[/ame] every interview with andrew i've read these last couple of weeks they've asked him about New Moon Rising. and everytime he has brought up how they played the song at my uni (macquarie) and how it just went off like crazy. :smug: i feel special.
  25. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYcxX-SOtY4]YouTube - The xx - Night Time [Later... with Jools Holland][/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqIcF2hpHWY]YouTube - The xx - Islands [Later Live...][/ame] Night Time imo sounds perfect. but Islands sounds a little hazy but i think that was their first song so they might have been a little nervous.
