  1. ^^ would it be rock n roll without the swearing? i was dissapointed how they beeped it all out very annoying. they should of had an uncensored webcast or something.
  2. after a full evening of contemplation. i've come up with 3 lists of albums. I Pink Floyd - The Wall Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II Pearl Jam - Vitalogy White Stripes - Elephant Metallica - Master of Puppets II Nirvana - Nevermind U2 - Joshua Tree Tool - Aenima Queen - Night at the Opera Oasis - Definitely Maybe III Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes Kanye West - Late Registration Michael Jackson - Thriller Arcade Fire - Funeral Moderator, you can pick any of these lists, doesn't bother me which one.

most probably very late this year or early next year. they are touring loosely through 2009. but they said after their massive australian tour last december that they will start 'writing' the new album in the new year. now 'writing' is a very very primitive stage of an album. once they admit they are 'recording' then we can get excited.
  4. i just think its a sad reflection of society and how superficial people have become. people are more interested in gossip and drama. now i've only lived in one city my whole life that being sydney and i think the media especially radio tells us alot. the most popular show is driven by sleazy gimmicks, stupid pranks and talentless announcers. and saturated in nothing but top 10 hits. the ones who talk about real issue and interesting informative topics are struggling. people in this era dont like having their faults pointed out, rather they would prefer to laugh at other peoples problems and shortcomings. we're in desperate need of another punk generation of bands. not necessarily a kurt cobain or eddie vedder. just a band who know what they're talking about and are passionate about music and can portray that in a radio-friendly way.
  5. ^^ it was such an awesome 10min speech. u can tell it was from the heart.

its awesome that they are going to name their second album Congratulations. hahaa. they claim to have come up with the title before they released Oracular. they are doing one show in New Zealand in late july. hope they visit australia while they're down here.
  7. ^^ alot of crap was popular back in the 90s also. crap will always be popular. but i do agree that there is a complete absence of decent music in the charts at the moment but i dont really care i enjoy digging deep to find great artists.
  8. Aha Shake Heartbreak. only full album of theres i can stand listening to. i love about 5 songs of Because but thats it. and dont get me started on Only By The Night.
  9. yeah thats what its called.
  10. ^^ same here haha. everytime i hear Kid A i like it a bit more. but i find it very difficult to compare to other albums simply because its sooo unique.
  11. i hope this album delivers. this could be there chance to make it big in Europe and UK. everyone down here had their hopes on Wolfmother doing big things but they just imploded. John Butler has done awesome stuff everywhere but doesnt have the commercial marketable feel of Eskimo Joe. for people just discovering this awesome pop rock band. i recommend some of their older stuff, it has a more unique raw feel to it. Older Than You (my favourite) From The Sea (break through song) Liar (from their debut record back in 2001) Sweater (a fan favourite and has a very different sound) Smoke New album is called Inshalla. Released on 29 May. havent heard any news of international release.
  12. the year in music has officially kicked off!! after a very very slow start to the year where nothing but the leaked Phoenix impressed me, i think 2009 is proving to be just as awesome as last year but with the well established acts showing their colours.
  13. has anyone heard Robin Pecknolds solo stuff?
  14. its really interesting to see this bands popularity very very gradually growing. no one who has properly listened to this band has had anything negative to say about them.
  15. yeah the new stuff is pretty good. i loved it the first time i heard it at Sound Relief hope they headline some of the winter festivals
  16. ^^ good work. they're not the best this country has to offer. but they are bloody awesome!!
  17. how are u measuring superiority? i usually measure it by influence, longevity, musicianship, chemistry, quality of music, live performances and success. Influence - its a no brainer, Nirvana wins Longevity- same as above but Pearl jam wins Musicianship - mike and stone combined are better guitarist, eddie is the better lyricist and vocalist but only just, jeff is the better bassist and dave grohl is better than every PJ drummer combined. its a tie here Chemistry - pearl jam. kurt cobains dominance prevented any true chemistry in the band. Quality of Music - pearl jam again simply because of the variety and how accessible it is. suitable for any mood or atmosphere Live - nirvana. just explosive Success - they've enjoyed two very different types of success. so tie again ok i give up. no clear winner. but i still prefer PJ
  18. "masterpiece"??? mate Kid A is beyond a masterpiece. its...........well i dont know what it is. i like In Rainbows more but there is something about Kid A.............i dont think ill ever quite be able to put my finger on it.
  19. i wouldnt be surprised to see all 4 post 2000 radiohead albums make the top 20. and maybe even In Rainbows being top 10. but that will leave them open to massive criticism, so they'll spread the 4 around evenly, as much as they would love to put all 4 up the top.
  20. new album coming out very very soon. i think the new single premiered on triple j this morning. havent had the chance to hear it. i'm sure ill love it. their last album turned the band into hit machines. from memory about 5 of the songs got high rotation on every radio station, quite an achievement.
  21. ^^ i wouldnt say that Liam's voice was all that unique. he sounds like alot of 60s pop rock singers. Kurt's was highly influenced by the punk rock singers from the mid 70s. the whole dont give a damn style of vocals
  22. 2.5 million!!! thats from one leg in europe and one in north america!! they still another tour in each of those continents, plus dates around Asia, Australia and South America!! wouldnt be surprised to see that number grow to around 6 or 7 million.
  23. whats geography got to do with anything? my admiration for kurt cobain lies completely in his ability to turn what was perceived as 'underground' music into chart topping mainstream, without "selling out". but like you bjaiken i would say that Pearl Jam are a far superior band and Eddie the more powerful singer. and it annoys me when people say that PJ would of been nothing had it not been for Nevermind and kurt.
  24. there is a massive discussion over on the metacritic.com forums about whether anything will replace Kid A as the album of the decade for Pitchfork magazine. for those of you who didnt know Pitchfork made a list of the best albums of the first half of the decade and Kid A came out on top. The Funeral by Arcade Fire is the most likely contender?
  25. wow Q magazine have absolutely slammed the dvd. from memory they gave it 1.5 stars!!
