wow i dont think i've ever seen a well-known band play sooo many festivals in the one european summer. i'm sure they will do the UK fests in late july and august like reading and leeds and V festival. why does it say 8pm next to each and every date. surely they won't be starting their set at the exact same time every night.

2009 is too soon for a 3rd headlining spot. if this was only their second time on the bill i would not be complaining at all. the 100 000 i was referring is the approx number of people in the crowd who may not like the band. then there is the 45 000 or so who are fans. i think its pretty cool that The Boss is headlining Glastonbury he does seem the most suitable at the moment. but i would like to see a more current band headlining either friday or sunday nights. Neil Young and Blur seem the most likely at the moment to fill those spots.

Crying Lightning sounds different yet awesome. so i'm really looking forward to their 3rd album. alex said august to september is a realistic date for release. so i'm sure a single or two should be out before hand.

it has a little to do with the popularity of coldplay but alot more to do with the fact that they've headlined in 2002 and 2005. again in 2009 is too soon. but at the same time i think i would be impressed by coldplay if they do choose to headline glasto. they will be playing in front of almost 100 000 people who don't necessarily like them and maybe a proportion who do . that will be a challenge for them.

how many top 10 singles did radiohead have in those years? was ok computer and hail to thief the highest selling albums of that year (or any year). were they doing stadium tours around the world? did any of their songs break record after record? were they slated as the "biggest band in the world"? if coldplay headline in 2011 (is that a break year?) 6years after last headlining i will not complain at all.

i just read for the first time pitchforks 10/10 review of Kid A. and one line stood out to me "Kid A makes rock and roll sound childish." that sums up the 49min masterpiece perfectly.

if their not desperate then they're boring having coldplay headline again. no band with the popularity of coldplay have played at glasto. i just think thats its wrong to have a band of that stature on the bill. a band that could sell out the venue just by themselves. ' i simply want to see a more interesting band headline.

^^ i don't think it will remain as just a side project. this has been much more successful than Sleepy Jackson or Pnau. but Luke Steele does have a Sleepy Jackson album lined and is working on an album with Daniel Johns from Silverchair

i've been telling people on this forum about the stuff Triple J do for a long long time and it just gets ignored. two live concerts a week, albums played in full well before their release dates, music experts as presenters, music doco's, radiohead worship, worlds biggest annual music poll, and best of all NO ADS!! did i mention the radiohead worship?!?

as much as i love to see aussie acts doing well on the international stage. i can't say this is one i support that much. Luke Steele (the blonde) and nick littemore (the guy who hates shirts) are two of the weirdest and most talented artists in aus. together i don't think they offer that much. i remember hearing their debut album back in august. and i can't say i was all that impressed. yeah it was creative and colourful but it just lacked substance. there was nothing spectacular or brilliant about it. there are moments on the album like Half Mast where you just go WOW but for the most part its rather ordinary. nonetheless the band has become massive down here in australia even though the bands of each artist (Sleepy Jackson for Steele and Pnau for Littlemore) have never enjoyed much success. yes this is nothing more than a side project. the band i think everyone should be looking out from Australia is Temper Trap. check out their song Sweet Disposition

^^ don't feel that you HAVE to like radiohead just because alot of other coldplay fans do. i know alot of people who have a great appreciation for awesome music yet absolutely hate radiohead but love Muse and Coldplay. but they are a band that people will talk about in 20 -30years time in the same way people still talk about pink floyd and led zeppelin. so in that sense you don't want to be someone who never gave them a try.

^^ i dont mind the odd rap song now and then. but most of my faves aren't huge names. i enjoy a bit of Lupe Fiasco and kanye west in his early days. what would people say is the closest radiohead have ever come to making a cheesy pop song? i think High and Dry as well as Stop Whispering have a real genuine pop sound about them.

for a long long time, almost 4 years the only radiohead song i knew was Creep as our local modern rock station would play it everyday. as much as i loved the song i never bothered to try and find more of their music. but a government run tv channel would show a couple of different radiohead concerts on a regular basis (i think one was Belfort 2003 and the other looked like from 2001) and i would force myself to sit down for the 80 or 90mins and watch the concerts even though i didn't recognise a single song (they refused to play Creep). i remember being mesmerised every time i watched but sort of freaked out by Thom. then on the 15th of october 2007 i had the pleasure of hearing In Rainbows in full on the radio. i was amazed at how brilliant it was but i still paid nothing to buy it off the website. the album took over my life (i had my yr12 final exams in the same week) and over the next month i went out and bought the bends ok computer and kid a. radiohead single handedly turned me off mainstream top 40 crap and into alternative music.

i'm having a terrible time trying to choose the winners for the 2nd round of the champs league. there are very few if no games between a really good team and a weak team. but i'm confident barca will dispose of lyon and Villareal should win comfortably. otherwise i have no idea. just hoping my two teams man utd and juve get through. its No1 in england v No1 in italy. No3 in england v No2 in italy. No2 in spain v No2 in england. No1 in france v No1 in spain. can it get any closer!!

desperate because they will be headlining the festival for the 3rd time in 6yrs not because of their success. i can't think of any other major festivals around the world that have done that. the closest would be when Metallica headlined rock am ring twice in 3yrs.

ah you europeans and north americans have no idea of how lucky you are. radiohead tour over there almost every year whereas they haven't played in australia for almost 5yrs now, they did a tour back in 2004. despite the fact that In Rainbows went to No1 here and was front page news when it was released digitally. a little request for the party. could we make it at around 8pm New York time (which is midday here in sydney). or maybe have two different parties to suit the time differences. and will the album be OK Computer?

i think the fact that they have headlined twice already means they won't headline again. and if glastonbury do decide to let them headline it will make them look a little desparate making it look like they can't find anyone else so they just stuck on a local band to headline for the 3rd time in the same decade.

have any setlists from the latin america tour popped up yet on AtEase? or any other fan sites

it is really hard to predict who will headline glastonbury this year. since last year was dominated primarily by young acts. i would not be surprised to see the likes of Neil Young and Bruce Spingsteen headlining one of the nights. i think there's a very good chance we'll see Pearl Jam if they release a new album before then. Franz Ferdinand are the only confirmed band for the festival on coldplay. i will be very surprised to see them headline. its not often a band of their nature headline glastonbury, they tend to go for big name acts that haven't yet been labelled "biggest band in the world"

i was reading an interview with jonny a few weeks back and he said that they really struggled to re-create Kid A live on stage. and then they worked on it during the Amnesiac tour to make it what it is today. personally i think Kid A songs sound the best live, Morning Bell for me is one of the few radiohead songs that sound better live than it does on the album. Ed's harmonies are simply perfect!!

ah briggins my friend you could not be more wrong. NIN is alive and well and Trent Reznor is making music just as brilliantly as he did 10-15yrs ago. the way he released Year Zero a few years back was amazing and then he followed that up with Ghosts I-IV which is some of the best instrumental work i have ever had the pleasure of hearing. The Slip wasn't too crash hot but still worth a listen. currently i'm working through some NIN back catalogue. anyone have any recommendations on where i should begin? i have all the 2000s album but nothing from the 90s.
