i'm finding more and more that this section of CPing, World of Music is becoming a place for former CP fans to "cool off" as they lose interest in the band they once loved. most of us who do post here regularly i'm sure joined this thread as a hardcore crazy CP fan but as the years have drawn on and the bands worldwide popularity reached enormous heights we have started to find them a little less interesting and exciting. i'm writing this mostly from personal experience but also from alot of friends i've made from World of Music who like me joined CPing as huge fans of the boys but are now more interested in other acts. now i'm not implying that CP are a crap band, i still have alot of respect for them (otherwise i would not of paid $120 to go see them) but i think, i like alot of you have discovered a "world of music" outside of coldplay. which is just as good if not better at times. now going back on topic. i remember late last year i introduced radiohead to a friend of mine who had very little interest in music. i told him beforehand that it took me weeks and weeks to get accustomed to the radiohead sound so he should be patient with them. he came back to me less than a week later telling me that he was madly in love with their music already and that he already bought In Rainbows and OK Computer and was going to get the bends. so i guess its different for everyone or maybe it had to with the fact that he hadn't really heard much music before radiohead.

thank you soooo much Ren (can i call you that ;) ) for the john videos. his ability to cover basically any song is just amazing but his ability as a musician in general is just mind blowing. You and Whose Army sounded perfect but his cover of Lucky at a solo gig in amsterdam is incredible stuff. my favourite band of all time, rhcp combined with a band i'm completely addicted to and have been since the release of In Rainbows (people are STILL talking about that masterpiece!!). i dont think it can get any better!!

i would prefer it across msn but then again alot of us dont have msn/yahoo. and im sure i will miss out because of the time differences.

thats the vibe that i got from listening to the debut. it just doesnt feel like they have the potential to make a second record which is just as good. i hope i am proven wrong but its unlikely.

i have a really close friend (also a member of cping) who i sit back with and listen to album after album. radiohead albums are our favourite to go through (alongside Muse and White Stripes). there's something on every song thats worth talking about for ages whether its the unorthodox chord progression, or thoms brilliant vocal performances or even colins great bass melodies. personally i think OK Computer would be perfect to begin with. and preferrably around 11pm or so London time.

thank you very much my fellow cplayers for that very interesting discussion i really enjoyed reading your thoughts. theres nothing i love more than reading and talking about radiohead. you can only really have those sort of conversations about truly great bands and artist.

has everyone seen the episode of From The Basement featuring Fleet Foxes alongside Radiohead and Andrew Bird. i saw it on cable last night and it is easily the best episode of the show i have ever seen. fleet foxes did 3 songs but only one seems to be on youtube. i can understand why people dont like them. they are pretty average live on stage but so were other bands who broke through last year with awesome debut albums. so i just forget about their ability on stage and focus on their brilliant debut record. from go to woe its almost perfect. its catchy in an un-annoying way.

the raw and genuine nature of For Emma sort of reminds of what coldplay were like in their parachutes-era and before.

blink 182 = depressing. quite obviously you have never seen those guys live on stage.

i would love to see those guys on stage once more. i will never call them a "great" band more like a "fun" band. and they really knew how to make very enjoyable pop punk and travis was a great drummer i hope his injuries dont effect his ability on the drums.

they were my first favourite band back in 2001. but since 2005 and that album with jay-z they have been slowing losing me and minutes to midnight tipped me off the edge. i still love the band and hope one day i will finally get to see them live and maybe just maybe they will win me over once more.

i thought radiohead looked completely out of place. the only other performer who got anywhere near the "alternative-ness" of radiohead was M.I.A. nonetheless they put on a great performance but not the song that i would of liked them to have done.
