  3. wow stevie was amazing!!!! i ignored the pretty boys around him. hehe can't say coldplay quite deserved best rock album but the competition wasnt crash hot except the raconteurs who werent even there. and heres katy perry to ruin the night.
  4. so far its been a pretty awesome show. but the best is still to come!!!
  5. lost acoustic sounded freken awesome even with jay-z. viva la vida sounded like it had a million backing tracks with it so can't say i loved it.
  6. i hope she pops out an album this year also. Kala was brilliant!!!! briggins n julie. GET A ROOM!!
  7. i hope it means in some way or another. that some of the nominees for the best album get to do 2 songs. but i doubt that cos its a highly organised show.
  8. ooooooooo controversy. usually its kanye west who gets into trouble at award nights. nice to see the baton being passed on to the next generation.
  9. anyone know whose opening the show? so coldplay is 1 from 4 so far? and radiohead 2 from 4?
  10. ok now the real party begins!!
  11. best rock song coming up!! and go nigel godrich for best produccer
  12. they've won best alt album and best special edition. they lost best group rock song and best video.
  13. ah coldplay wins best pop group song. i think that was their first for the night
  14. *walks in fashionably late* heyhey everyone!! good to see radiohead pick up a random award for special edition of an album. daft punk deserved a clean sweep of the dance awards. and it was interesting to see the rap award shared equally.
  15. did anyone record the Triple J Live at the Wireless broadcast of bloc party's recent show in sydney? my recorder stuffed up in the last minute so i couldnt get it.
  16. John Frusciante - Empryean this is easily john's best record so far. ironically he has made more solo records than albums with rhcp (its 10 to 9) and in my opinion his guitar work in this album is alot better than it was on stadium arcadium and alot of it reflects the improvisation he did at every rhcp show during their last tour. his vocals are amazing as usual and when you think about it this is almost a rhcp album with john on vocals. because with him on this record you have flea and josh klinghoffer who was a full time touring member with rhcp in 2007. one of the best albums of the year so far.
  17. sorry if i'm really late and slow on this. but has everyone heard of the 3 part epic that Matt is writing for the new album. i read in a magazine that it will be the final 3 songs on the album. has anyone got any extra info on this?
  18. yeah i found it to be really easy to listen and quite enjoyable. but it hasn't really been the type that i can't stop listening to. good but not great
  19. ^^ i am aware of that. but it gots its north american release this past week. since a majority of people on this thread are from that region i thought i might bring it too peoples attention.
  20. briggins how many of 13 000 posts are from you. you can find out by hovering your mouse over the bright colourful bit next to the title of the thread on the World of Music main page.
  21. ^^ but briggins my friend. read the title of the thread. who you want to win OR who you think will win? yes the poll is just who you want to win which is what everyone is doing and thats fair enough. but the discussion is about both questions. so here is my final tip 48hrs out Who Should Win?: In Rainbows by Radiohead Who Will Win?: Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and just something extra Who Will Own The Night?: The English (i hope i dont get caught saying that, i could lose my aussie citizenship!!) and yay 400 posts :)
  22. anyways back to the music. You & I - Cut Off Your Hands. as a proud aussie this is most probably the first and last time i plug an act from New Zealand. but these guys are fairly good. check out the track Happy As Can Be.
  23. here's another claim i'm almost certain is true. the 23 people who voted for In Rainbows have all heard VLV many many times. the 23 who voted for vlv i doubt have heard in rainbows more than 5 times if at all. and the grammys will never give the album of the year award to a "crap" artist. it has never happened and never will. herbie hancock is a musical legend and deserved it last year. as did U2. i think alot of people on this board need to realise plant n krauss are far far more likely to win than cp or radiohead. if coldplay win it will be a reward for their success over the past decade whereas if any of others win it will be based purely on their latest records. i know thats a big call but its my opinion.
  24. Blood Bank is doing big things down here in aus. it hasnt quite reached the level Skinny Love did but its pretty damn close.
