  1. im cool with giving it to Cloud Control
  2. Paste Magazine who gave it a 9.4/10 described the album as very well put
  3. ^^ two shows in syd. on 7th and 8th. im going on the 7th
  4. well we're less than 24hrs away from one of the most eagerly anticipated Ashes series ever. with the aussies struggling and england being the holders and in form team it should be particularly interesting. australia did win 5-0 last time the ashes were held down here but a lot has changed since. the first test starts on thursday in brisbane and the atmosphere should be incredible with a crowd of over 40 000 expected on the first day. Australian Team 1 Simon Katich, 2 Shane Watson, 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 Michael Hussey, 6 Marcus North, 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Xavier Doherty, 10 Peter Siddle, 11 Ben Hilfenhaus. England Team 1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Ian Bell, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 James Anderson, 11 Steven Finn. personally i wouldnt be the least bit surprised if aus loses the first test. the team selections have been very suspect. marcus north, doherty and siddle should not be in the team. north should be replaced with khawaja or steve smith, doherty should be replaced with hauritz and siddle for bollinger. nevertheless cant wait to see what happens!
  5. top 5 potential for me. but im not sure about no.1
  6. am i the only one going to see the national in jan? well they just announced the middle east as their support! :D
  7. ^^ actually i think jmag reviewed it well before anyone else got their hands on it. because of exams i never got around to re-subscribing. so i will have to buy the magazine from the shop and do it this time around.
  8. he is on 97/100 after 26 reviews on metacritic. im pretty certain that he will remain over 90 after 40 or 50 reviews. which is an incredible achievement.
  9. ^^ but big doesnt necessarily mean quality. like this year has been amazing but how many big bands have released new albums? i cant think of an album bigger than Kings of Leons new one. correct me if im wrong.
  10. i remember watching a doco on liam and they were talking about how Liam was a little reluctant to be a singer because it was a slightly "gay" thing to do, like real men didnt sing. so he modeled himself on a punk rock frontman from the 80s who took on this brutish brawler like attitude on stage. and thats exactly what liam is, he isnt charismatic or anything like that. his dont give a fuck attitude is who he is and it really wouldnt seem right if he was anything else. he is still a great frontman but has nothing on chris martin. and i agree with the people calling Matt bellamy pompous. when i go to see the band in a couple of weeks im going to stand in front of chris instead of matt. and if he doesnt play the piano intro to New Born he is going to cop a lot of shit from the sydney crowd. he got away with it when they were here in january cos everyone was very dehydrated and didnt care but if he just stands there straddling his mic stand instead of playing his piano we're really going to give it to him.
  11. what an incredible contrast 2010 has been to 2009. this time last year i was struggling to come with a decent top 25 and im pretty sure i ended up including albums i really didnt enjoy that much. this year im going to end up leaving out a lot of great albums in my top 25 because there has been sooo much great music!
  12. just for the record when i said jonny, will and guy were "boring" i wasnt questioning their musical ability more so it was their stage presence, it's non-existant. honestly the 3 of them could catch on fire and nobody except a few guy-fangirls would take their eyes off chris martin. i think the best example of their dependence on chris was when he did the fix you run at sound relief in sydney. when they got to the end of the instrumental and chris was still stuck in the crowd instead of continuing with a variation of the melody or some sort of improvisation they just stood there and waited for chris to get back. compare that to muse where dom and chris do awesome jams on demand without matt leading them. and anybody who questions chris martins talent has to take a listen to the viva la vida demos. it shows what an incredible songwriter he is.
  13. ^^ yeah jmag gave it 2 stars last year! but street press australia called it the album of the year 2010. so it really polarised critics.
  14. seeing them in a couple of weeks. and ive been looking at the sets theyve been playing and although they've maintained a decent quota of "old" songs there are long segments of the show where they play 4 or 5 new songs back to back. might go for a toilet break then :P
  15. ive always wondered how the fuck did Kid A hit no.1 in the States when it was released. it just never made sense to me. i know their previous release was one of the greatest albums of all time but still, no.1 in america is totally different. then i learned tonight while browsing through wiki that Kid A had actually leaked on to napster 3 months before its official release and it had developed such a huge reputation that when it was finally released everyone was crazy about it and went out and bought it. i guess that also kinda justifies the way they handled in rainbows. it really does piss me off how the music industry still fails to see the incredible benefits of P2P music sharing. im not saying they should openly embrace it but they need to stop incriminating to the extent they have been.

  17. if it wasnt for the last 3mins of Blame Game and some aspects of All of the Lights this album would be a masterpiece. but those 2 things hurt its credentials.
  18. if this was chris martin v muse, then chris would win hands down. but the snore-fest that is will, guy and jonny brings down coldplays live appeal. what im trying to say is that when you see coldplay there isnt much to look at except chris whereas with muse all 3 of them are great performers and brilliant musicians.
  19. apologies if this has already been posted

  21. LOL @ wengers fashion sense! the sleeping bag jacket, the baggy trackies and the white runners!! haha. who is he trying to look like? a rapper??? :P
  22. im not big on hip hop either. but kanye's music has a sophistication to it that is lacking in most hip hop. when you listen to it you can tell that he has put effort into it and actually thought about what he was doing. i know ive said this a million times already. but people seem to be forgetting that this is kanyes FIFTH album. that sort of longevity is almost unheard of these days.
  23. exams over. so i can focus on this album of the year thing a little more now bliss release. i think the best thing about this album is the wide appeal that it has. it has some great mainstream pop sensibilities, intelligent songwriting that appeals to those of us who pay a bit more attention to music, a great variety of songs but not to the point where it feels incoherent and even a decent standard of musicianship. as a collection of songs it might just be the best of the year but as an album album im not really sure. it's good but not amazing.
  24. when i went into JB yesterday i actually had trouble finding it. there was very little fanfare surrounding the release and there were at least half a dozen other albums in more prominent positions than kanye's. i guess unlike Graduation and late registration there has been no massive single in the lead up to this release so the commercial hype has been slightly muted.
  25. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
