  1. I'm in the US, so I'm stuck with the "IHeartMusic" site...but that one randomly inserts some guy saying "FREE MUSIC ON DEMAND" every once in a while, and I'm just too much of a perfectionist to put up with that. Guess I'll just have to be patient...and hope my family's very long vacation doesn't start until after it comes out here. :\

He does, which was really weird because that makes no sense at all...unlike "and the fog became God". And it doesn't sound like "fox" at all in the studio version... It also has a good clue to the mystery line after "When I'm dead and hit the ground": at least to me, the last bit very clearly sounds like "that unfroze." Anyone think they know what the rest is?
  3. Since I'm ridiculously picky about music and yet can't think of more than one or two Coldplay songs I don't like, I can't figure out why so may people hate them, either. But I do have some absurd guesses. 1. They're not loud enough. A lot of people seem to think music can't be good unless its intended volume will shred your eardrums to bits. Don't ask me why, but you know it's true. This is usually what people mean when they call Coldplay "boring" or "depressing." 2. They don't make songs filled with profanity; actually I can't think of a Coldplay song that even has the word "damn." This is similar to the above and just as stupid; kinda like how teens/young men like to curse all the time because they think it makes them seem older or something. 3. They "ripped off" some other band. I find this pretty silly since I hate most of the bands Coldplay gets compared to (especially Radiohead) and in any case none of them sound much like Coldplay, or each other for that matter. I don't know why this makes people hate them, though; spite maybe, or jealousy? 4. The whole "gay" thing. I'll leave off the rant about how incredibly idiotic (and irrelevant) this is, but...this leads to fear, which quickly leads to hate because that's cooler. [/yoda] But anyway, who cares? If someone wants to hate Coldplay, it's their loss...
  4. Hm, let's see if I can attract some deserved ire... anything by Snow Patrol: The lead singer's voice makes me want to bang my head on the wall until I get a concussion and forget I ever heard it. I haven't actually done that, though...probably. most Radiohead songs: Yes, I know most of you think they're one of the best bands ever, and maybe you're right, but I only sometimes find them tolerable...usually they're just mysteriously irritating. Rap: I usually can't understand the lyrics, but when I can I usually end up hating it even more. (U2's) "Sunday Bloody Sunday": Why anyone actually likes this unpleasant, repetitive chant, I have no clue, but...yuck. (I mean come on...even the title is repetitive.) This is the only U2 song I just can't put up with at all. Why is it their most popular one?! Rolling Stone's "Wild Horses": Pandora likes to throw this one at me a lot. Who decided this was music, anyway? I sure hope this is one of their bad ones.
  5. It's funny how certain people rapidly become assholes when I start talking to them. Hopefully this forum has an Ignore option... Edit: Good, it does. Have fun with those silent insults.
  6. Well, at least that answers my question...
  7. The Coldplaying.com forum: constantly dancing around the fine line between silliness and obscenity. Anyone know which side we're on now? :\
  8. 42

guyy replied to Choldplayer's topic in 42
    Babel fishes, maybe? :P
  9. No, it's 6X9. Which is why we still don't know what the question is. :P (And if you actually get that joke...you win.) But yes, 42 definitely comes from the Hitchhiker's Guide book(s), since they have other more subtle references like "Don't Panic" and the robot in the "Talk" video (which looks a lot like Marvin from the TV series). Though I've always found it kinda inconsistent that this band makes references to both religion/spiritualism and the most anti-religious book I know of.
  10. Yes. The smarter minority. Seriously...taking drugs you don't actually need is pretty much never a good idea. Especially addictive ones. What's the difference?
  11. What in the... You people spend WAY too much time on this site. :P
  12. guyy replied to nmsv's topic in Violet Hill
It's very close, but I still don't like this bit: My love's opposed but unfolds Does it really sound like that to you? That word sounds nothing like "opposed"...and anyway, what on earth does that phrase mean? :P I can't hear anything that sounds like an S in that word, so I doubt it's "opposed". I think we'll need to wait for the official word on that one, unless someone has a major insight. Edit: Also, I still think he must be saying "Honor", not "Armor", just because that makes so much more sense. And I think he says "And" right before "If you love me Won't you let me know?" the first 2 times; it's hard to hear because it only lasts a moment.

I don't want to be a soldier who the captain of some sinking ship would stow, far below There is just no way he's saying "with snow, far below"; it doesn't sound like that at all and it makes no sense anyway (why would there be snow far below a sinking ship? it doesn't snow underwater!). As for "Or the captain of some sinking ship with stow, far below"...not likely, and why would he bother mentioning it has some unspecified cargo using weird grammar? "would stow, far below" makes the most sense and sounds perfect if you haven't thoroughly convinced yourself it's something else. :P
  14. guyy replied to nmsv's topic in Violet Hill
Hearing it again, it does sound like that...though right now it sounds to me like "My loves are pulled, that unfurled" which makes no sense. :P
  15. guyy replied to nmsv's topic in Violet Hill
I can't quite hear that...it sounds a lot more like "but" than "and" to me, and I'm hearing more of a hard "d" sound than a soft "s" sound right before the comma, which is why I still think that word isn't "poems." It sounds more like "pulled" or something. Also..."poems that unfold"? :P My current guess is this: But loves are pulled, then unfurled That one's still unclear, but I guess I should repeat this one, because it got missed and if this isn't right, I officially declare myself deaf: I don't want to be a soldier Who the captain of some sinking ship Would stow, far below
  16. guyy replied to nmsv's topic in Violet Hill
...I think you're right! Something like this? It sounds about right and it even makes sense, sort of: "But loves are pulled, and unfurled"?
  17. guyy replied to nmsv's topic in Violet Hill
"I don't want to be a soldier With the captain of some sinking ship With snow, far below" I don't think so...SamH's version is a lot closer. I think it's this, which makes a lot more sense: "I don't want to be a soldier Who the captain of some sinking ship Would stow, far below" I still can't get the line with "Unfolds" in it, though...oddly it sounds more like "Unfurled" to me. "[but/Our] love's a [something] that unfurled"?
  18. Sort of an inadequate set of poll options there. :P It's far from their best song ever, and unusually dark for a Coldplay song, but very good. And since they don't often pick their best songs for singles (why on earth is White Shadows not a single?!), this should be a great album. :D ...And I guess they really have decided to go with a title even longer and more awkward than "A Rush Of Blood To The Head." It's gonna be hard to advertise it with such a long name!
  19. Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me? (woohoo, not Coldplay!) Kind of a long one, but interesting as they never actually use the "L-word"; they don't really need to. I can't sleep tonight Everybody's saying everything is alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all of these lights Sunny days, where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning I can't stand myself I'm being held up by invisible men Still life on a shelf when I've got my mind on something else Sunny days, oh where have you gone I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Oh where did the blue sky go? Oh and why is it raining so? It's so cold I can't sleep tonight Everybody's saying everything is alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all of these lights Sunny days, where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Oh where did the blue sky go? Oh and why is it raining so? It's so cold Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Why does it always rain on me? Why does it always rain on, oh on...

...I gotta say, I have no idea why you said that. I never said one was a copy of the other, just that they seemed similar. Am I missing something here?
  21. Noone ever agrees with my opinions, so this should be easy. - "Green Eyes" isn't that great and fits in weirdly on AROBTTH; "I Ran Away" works much better. - The studio version of "Shiver" is just awful, though I'm not sure why. - "Parachutes" is one of their best songs, as is "A Whisper." - "God Put A Smile..." has pretty much nothing to do with God. - Coldplay sometimes makes the annoying mistake of writing a great song, then putting something really annoying at the end that ruins the effect somewhat ("Low", "Warning Sign").
  22. A video game thread on a music forum and no mention of this?! It must not be getting enough publicity. Short, useless description: forget Guitar Hero, this is the only music game you'll ever need. :wink3:
  23. That made pretty much no sense at all, but it does explain how this thread got so huge.
  24. This is kinda pointless, but I have to say it. TWO THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED PAGES?!? :shocked2: That will be all.
