  1. Crests of Waves...if I'd known it was this good, I would have looked for it sooner. :D
  2. 1. I'm still stuck with Windows for the most part, but I should probably learn enough Linux to actually use it...I dunno about Macs though, their interface really annoys me. :P 6. :dead::smash: 8. No. :D But I'll go as far as a hint:
  3. :dozey::thinking::D For me, it would only take one. Anyway... 1. Actually finish a piece of software that's useful...which I've almost done...I think 2. Learn to not be confusing 3. Stop being too distractable to play an instrument 4. Meet Coldplay, and assure them I'm not gay 5. Meet Radiohead, and force them to replace their lead singer 6. Meet Michael Jackson, and beat him senseless with a baseball bat 7. Go into space, preferably without extreme risk of death...:stunned: 8. ...Hm...I'll let you guess this one, because I'm not saying it. ;)
  4. Yeah, there's a really deep voice saying something like "Fall asleep...Fall asleep, deep" somewhere in the middle...but I think it's much harder to hear in an Mp3 version, probably because its pitch is so different from the rest of the song. Try looking for it on the actual CD if you have it. The whole song is a bit weird though, because there's no way it could put me to sleep; it's too energetic. :P
  5. Some of the lyrics in Lovers in Japan are kind of dumb ("They are turning my head out, to see what I'm all about"? Huh?) but other than that it's a good song...certainly better than Reign of Love or Chinese Sleep Chant, both of which I find pretty uninteresting (they have mostly incomprehensible or meaningless lyrics, and get kinda repetitive). I wouldn't say LiJ is the best song on the album, not even close...but it's not the worst.
  6. Try programming sometime...when it's not frustrating, it's REALLY boring. You can't survive as a programmer without a bizarre and hyperactive sense of humor. And so...you get stuff like this. :P
  7. "...none of this would mean anything if Diamond had not delivered an exceptional record. Which is exactly what Coldplay and Lil Wayne have done." ...Well, I guess they're both exceptional in their own ways...one in music, the other in sonic torture. Guess which is which. Anyway...I still kinda wish a better song than Viva La Vida had ended up really popular, like...well, almost any other song on that album. But I never seem to like the popular Coldplay songs that much, so go figure. At least there's something in there that everyone likes. Except me. :P
  8. ...What? I agree with the part about McCain--he's pretty much an older, slightly smarter version of Bush--but Obama is not a Marxist. More taxes aren't going to collapse the economy; unless another Republican gets elected, since they've started a tradition of only taxing people who aren't swimming in money. Obama's much more likely to take some money from people who have enough to buy their own state than from average citizens. Surely there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, even if Bob Barr would do a good job, why vote for someone with absolutely no chance of even getting a few percent of the popular vote?
  9. Just saw it (on TV, that is...) and it was, of course, great. They did 42 and Lost!, of all things (but I'm not complaining), with some silly chat with Jon in between. 42 was amazing, but Lost! didn't come off as well...though it may have just seemed that way because I don't like it nearly as much as 42. (And they cut off the end of Lost!. :dozey:) But the best part was watching Jon act like the fanboy he apparently is. He was speechless when Chris called him "Sir." :P
  10. 23 - Cemeteries of London 16 - 42 + 10 - Lovers in Japan 07 - Yes 10 - Viva La Vida - 29 - Strawberry Swing 28 - Death and All His Friends
  11. It does have a perfect ending; and come to think of it, Coldplay seems to have gotten past their issue of often messing up a great song near the end (*cough*Low*cough*); none of the songs on Viva La Vida have that problem. Most of them actually save the best bit for the end...like Cemeteries of London. :D
  12. guyy replied to 42rock89's topic in 42
Also, the quiet, atmospheric part of Life in Technicolor--which is the very beginning of the album and acts as an intro and an ending because of The Escapist--is almost exactly 42 seconds long. The band must really like this song. :P
  13. Sounds like you don't like rap either. :P
  14. Hey, it's a fan-cover by someone who can actually sing! :P Really good, though your voice is sometimes hard to hear. And I wish it had the bit at the end...that's my favorite part of the song.
  15. Well, I've heard rap quite a few times and, to put it bluntly, if those so-called artists were trying at all there's just no way it could have come out so completely awful. Most of them seem to be trying, but what they're trying to do is maximize the pain induced by listening to their "music." I'm sure there are some good rap groups/artists, but there are so many bad ones--by "bad" I mean that after hearing it I would give almost anything to forget the painful noise and disturbing lyrics--that I don't see much point in trying to find them. If you can tolerate the bad ones, go ahead and look. But I gave up looking pretty quickly. Ok, now I wish I had just ignored you.
  16. I think it's more like that most Americans have zero ability to appreciate music. I can't think of any other reason why all the really popular music here is just completely, unarguably awful. Rap is one of the most popular styles, but rappers don't even try to make good music; they just bang repetitively on drums and chant incredibly profane lyrics usually in a computer-modified electronic voice that makes it sound even worse. It's not that the musicians are terrible...it's more like that most of them aren't musicians at all, and the few that are just follow what's popular, and keep making painful noise while calling it music. But it's never all bad...there are always exceptions. :D
  17. ...Someone may have mentioned this already, but that link from the first post says it's on the 26th, not the 25th. Which is kinda confusing, because a lot of other sites say it's the 25th, including the Daily Show's site. So...apparently it is the 25th? That is, today? Still, this is awesome. I wonder what my Jon-and-Colbert-obsessed little brother will think of this... :P
  18. Didn't notice that...of course, I didn't even notice that the intro of the Life in Technicolor is the same as The Escapist until someone pointed it out. :P He makes a similar mistake in Spies (from Parachutes)...sometimes after saying "They're all spies," he forgets he already said the second 'S' and says it again, so it comes out like "They're all spies s." :laugh3:
  19. ...Wait, then why are you here? Oh yeah... As you can see, so do I, but only to people who do that for no good reason. ;) Maybe you should go to a forum for a band you actually like? Antagonizing people for fun isn't exactly productive, and it's pretty annoying to the people you're going after.
  20. Don't Panic vs. A Message
  21. Rock "instrumentals" are usually not that great, and Coldplay's never even done one before... ...but wow, did they ever do it well! If not for 42, this would be my favorite on the album.
  22. I hate to rain on the parade, but I really didn't like either of these songs that much...which is odd because I thought all the others on this album were great. "Yes!" isn't really that bad, but it's very far from Colplay's usual style and I think it ended up in a style of music I really don't like. "Chinese Sleep Chant," besides the inexplicable name, sounds like a failed attempt to make some tweaked version of an AROBTTH-style song. It's just so painfully repetitive, and goes on much too long. (And this is coming from someone who can't get enough of Clocks, a song that's pretty much one simple riff for 5 minutes.) To me, CSC sounds more like being in a windstorm than listening to a song. And, well, that isn't very pleasant. I guess AROBTTH is still the only Coldplay album with no songs I need to skip. :\
  23. This is either a very impressive photoshop, or the best ice cream ever.
  24. Well, you only waited 50 minutes...and this isn't exactly a physics forum. Though I do think "randomness," even in quantum mechanics, is pretty silly because any seeming random process must be made random by some mechanism...which means it isn't actually random. "Random" number generators in computer programs are completely predictable if you know how they work, and unless there's an obvious contradiction, I'd guess "random" events in particles are the same way. But since the eggheads among you are now convinced I'm nuts and everyone else has no idea what I'm talking about, this post is pretty pointless...
  25. Was just listening to Violet Hill, looked at rudy_o's signature during the very last verse, and read the exact words Chris was singing as he sang them ("if you love me, won't you let me know"). Unintentionally of course. :shocked2: I think that qualifies as spam, doesn't it?
