  1. Last one for the day? August 18, 2009 - submitted by Helmut, Austria Q. "U2 breaks audience records in Wembley"...they wrote today. 88.000 people joined their gig on Friday. Do you think Coldplay will break even this record on 18/19th of Sept.? (You can count on me - Ill be there!!) Thanks The Oracle replies: The record attendance was down to the stage set up that U2 have which allows more room for audience so for that reason Coldpay won't beat it. And yes, the Oracle did just spell the bands name wrong :laugh3:
  2. Really surprised X&Y beat Parachutes
  3. Apparently Tuesday is "Relationships Day" for the Oracle August 18, 2009 - submitted by Sophie, Australia Q. Dear Oracle, My ex and I broke up about six months ago and I still feel miserable. I would love nothing more than to move on and find someone else, but it seems impossible for me to like anyone now. Am I broken? Is there something wrong with me? How can I finally move on and be happy again? Thanks, Sophie. The Oracle replies: Don't worry Sophie, you are not broken. You don't need a new someone to make you happy, that's down to you. It does take time to get over a lost love and six months is an absolutely normal time frame to grieve. You will find someone else but at the moment you just haven't found anyone who makes you feel that's possible. When you do something will switch inside and you'll be amazed how instantly good you feel. You may just need a little more time to heal. It's ok to allow yourself sadness and tears but don't get "stuck" in the sad place. Love will come but don't look for it or wait, just try and get on with your life and do things that make you happy. Once you are truly happy you may realize that you're happy on your own and don't need to replace one love with another.
  4. I hope this girls boyfriend isn't a fan of the Oracle... or that she's using a fake name! August 18, 2009 - submitted by Emelie, Sweden Q. Sooo, I've been together with my boyfriend for 2 years now but I don't love him anymore. We are going to a Coldplay concert together this Saturday, so should I do it before or after the concert? The Oracle replies: This is a tricky one Emelie because I'd usually think it best to act as soon as possible rather than keeping someone hanging on. However, given that the concert is in a few days time I would think it wise to wait until after the show. I don't mean for you to break up with him as soon as the last chord has been struck or even on the way home. However and whenever you choose to do it, be as gentle as possible. He may be feeling high after the gig and your news could bring him crashing down to earth. If you do it before I can't see how he can enjoy the concert.
  5. Rather than posting the link here, if you send it to Dave, he can keep it for a few days and see if anyone doesn't recieve their mix. If it turns out everyone does, he can always post it here later, but I imagine there will be a couple of people who don't get theirs
  6. Blimey :shocked2:
  7. More on The Hardest Part... August 17, 2009 - submitted by Karen, United States of America Q. Dear Coldplay A question, and a heartfelt thanks to you... I'm wondering why you selected my grandmother's (Barbara Moseley) dance video for your song The Hardest Part? I have loved your music since the beginning, and was so happy when you chose her video for so many reasons I can't explain here.. I will forever be in your debt for bringing her back to me in this way. Your music is poetry brought to life...most sincerely, Karen The Oracle replies: Wow! Awesome to hear from you Karen. How strange that I just read a question asking if Barbara was in fact a stunt woman! It wasn't actually the band who chose the clip; it was the video's director Mary Wigmore. I have answered a couple of questions about your Grandmother that you may have missed so have a look here and here. Thanks for getting in touch!
  8. How do you sign a drumstick anyway??? August 17, 2009 - submitted by Nicklas, Denmark Q. Hey Oracle So I and my family was to the Coldplay concert yesterday in Herning Denmark. We were so lucky to get Will Champion's drumstick. Is there some way we can get that signed by all of the Coldplay members ? That would be the best thing ever. Sincerly Nicklas. The Oracle replies: Blimey Nicklas you don't ask for much do you? Not content with getting an amazing trinket but you want it signed too? No seriously, there's a quote that goes well with the fact you have a marvellous piece of memorabilia: "Collecting is the only socially commendable form of greed" - Eugene M Schwartz Basically what I'm saying is that, no, it won't be possible I'm afraid but I should think yourself very lucky...
  9. The Oracle is in the mood for telling tales... August 17, 2009 - submitted by Mike, United States of America Q. Dear Oracle, Do the guys ever listen to their own music when they are just hanging out? The Oracle replies: That would just be weird! I think when the guys are recording and getting ideas together it's important to listen back to the music but they wouldn't put their own CD on in the car once it's finished! They get to play the songs for real on tour so unless they're revisiting ideas for the live show, that'd be the only time. FYI: I went to a Simply Red aftershow party and later a few of us gathered in Mick Hucknall's suite and guess what he put on the stereo? Yep, his new album!
  10. Yes, he'll get faster No, he's not a drugs cheat
  11. My word, I've been away for less than a week and this thread seems to have doubled in length. Very lazy, can't be bothered reading it all, just tell me if I missed anything important. I've already recieved my mixtape and I've only just read the mail telling me who to send mine to. Life moves quick around here!!!
  12. Could we perhaps say meet for drinks from 7pm and eat at 8pm? Those of us who are working then making our way to Liverpool might struggle to get there for 7 (some of the Manchester based folk might as well if they don't finish work at 5.30/6pm) I'm sure someone suggested a restaurant earlier in the thread, but I'm too lazy to look :P
  13. Oh, and as I didn't have proper internet access when we got to 30 days to go, I owe you all a picture... it's now just: 26 days to go!!!
  14. Did we decide on a venue for the meal? 'Cos I guess we'll need to book in advance, there must be at least ten of us going...
  15. Couldn't get online all day so excuse my tardiness and the dull presentation but 30 days to go!!! (Will add colour & a pic when I get to a computer)
  16. Happy Birthday, Zoe, hope you have a great day :)
  17. I'm going away for a few days and thought I'd miss out on the next round of voting... I guess if that happens I'll just borrow the Absolute Time Travel machine :P
  18. What the poop is going on with this competition??? I keep checking the Absolute site for the next round of voting and nothing is there... and yet there appears to be a page where you're supposed to write your story about Coldplay at Wembley - even though it hasn't happened yet
  19. Welcome to the board :)
  20. Maybe you should get someone else to buy a ticket on your behalf, Sam :P
  21. I'd have thought the album in December (if it happens) would only be a greatest hits thing - nice way to round off the decade, only needs one or two new tracks, and minimal promotion And plus they'd be done with their contract!
  22. Personally, I'd go with February. I think they'll need a bit of time off after the European leg, then they'll be dying to get back in to the studio Plus there were rumours of another album in December to mark their tenth anniversary...
  23. There were rumours of November, there have also been rumours of February. There is a thread dedicated to Latin American Tour rumours somewhere on here
