New Lyrics?
Nothing could be truer. There are a fair few people on here, who have been legitimate members of the site, who have had to deal with the cruel, unforgiving world that is the internet. The minute anyone offers anything up, it's grounds to be brought back down. Even the best intentions go awry on the internet.

New Lyrics?
i should've read the whole thread beginning to end, because this is a bit ridiculous. i apologize for my one remark that was irrelevant, but why would you be annoyed at people's criticism when you offered up your work? you realize people on here shit all over coldplay too, right? people said worse things about etiaw than what you wrote. and unfortunately you included a quote of "the kids all dance" in your song, so that probably didn't help in the reception. just go to another website dude. it's no big deal. it's just that using this site for finding information that was worthwhile has gotten a lot harder in the last few months with all the trolls. the first rule of putting something out there is that you can't be touchy. and in your case, you already had a ready-made excuse that the lyrics were "coldplay's". and the war of "do something better", as people have said, is not a war worth getting in. because then someone on here could publicly embarrass you with something people liked more.

New Lyrics?
dude, again i apologize for taking my criticism too far. wasn't a necessary tack-on. i don't appreciate how certain people bring unnecessary comments into this thread (i'm not referring to you - i mean political stuff) and i shouldn't have brought something like that out. i'm not saying there isn't something to be said about that at all, but there's a time and a place for lots of conversations. here is not the place to discuss that. so my apologies.

New Lyrics?
i admit my criticism probably went too far. you were just looking for someone to read your lyrics. no real harm in that. my apologies.

New Lyrics?
there's really nothing up for debate here. the collapsing of interstellar gas is not a death in any terms anyone who knows anything about it would use. honestly, that would fall under constructive criticism. if you're going to go so far into the scientific realm in your lyrics, at least make sure it stands up. and i'm not trying to be know-it-all-y. i just got off of an astronomy course. so six months earlier and six months from now i wouldn't know the difference.

New Lyrics?
ohhhhhh my apologies should have read the whole thread. so two people pretending to get people interested? it would be innocent if you had gone to another area of the site and just asked what people thought. maybe you have done that before and you realized no one cared. that's because this isn't a writer's site its a site for coldplay fans. doesn't mean coldplay fans can't be writers, it just means we're here for coldplay. so don't go around playing the victim when you're tricking people into believing you. honestly, when are all of you going to realize that anyone coming on here with something unverifiable are just lying. whether that's because they have nothing better to do or because they are just trying to get attention (like these folks). i write stuff too, it doesn't mean i can take advantage of a captive audience by lying to get them to comment on the stuff. and honestly, if you're going to post some stuff, post something that doesn't sound like it came from a middle schooler. If you are in middle school, well then congrats. Me thinks based on your photo where you're advertising the fact that you saved some poor family by showing up for a few days, that you're all about that self promotion. and i apologize if i go to far, but if you want people to read your writing there are places for that. and people will give you constructive criticism. but don't expect people to laugh it off here. and i'm not even that annoyed with it. it's just getting a bit much on this site.

"like a nebula i die"....................??? basic astronomy is that nebula's are where stars are born. so whoever wrote this doesn't have a clue. no way this is coldplay - people just want to hear other people comment on their writing....

Noel Gallagher a fan of Coldplay's new material
Writing lyrics is a tough business, as many people have different ideas and standards. To be as unbiased as possible, Chris Martin and Noel probably don't fall anywhere in the top one hundred lyricists in the past two decades. To write a good tune is very different from writing good lyrics. Plenty of people are pleased with things that just rhyme and others like a bit more. If you want to read some lyrics, check out Bon Iver's new album. That stuff is poetry.

The Many Mystery Messages Of Mylo Xyloto
Every has seen car kids written on the album artwork right? Not just the CK but car kids. Probably going to be on the album then...right?

I'm bleeding from my face because I don't think this album title is very good.
I do realize he said that, but wasn't he talking about how that was a direction they considered but only bits and pieces will be left of it? I'd love studio sounds if they come up. Despite what everyone says, even if it doesn't come off this way, the band talked about how eno got them all back into a room playing the songs. Yes, that doesn't rule out production value but it speaks to a closeness they got away from after arobtth.

Limited edition pop-up Album cost?
My bad, I forgot that the Vinyl is included in the package, along with everything else. Probably 65-75 US then. I didn't mean to sound like a simpleton saying it was from Coldplay's "brain". What I meant was that this is not your traditional bullshit bundle dropped by half of the artists today. Think U2, who throw in things simply so they can jack the price even though most of it would be worthless to anyone but their top 100 fans. This bundle Coldplay is putting out is hardly full of trivial goodies. It's got the book, the cd, the Vinyl, and the few other things, like the notebooks and what will probably just be larger versions of whatever the album's slipout booklet pictures are. My point was only that these things weren't just drawn up by somebody in corporate to pull in more cash. Let's just hope everyone on this forum doesn't flip out when the price info is released, as they complain about "having to buy" everything.

Limited edition pop-up Album cost?
I can't see more than $40 US. If it was a corporate idea I'd say more but this is clearly from the band. Therefore anything over that might feel like robbery.

Coldplay: Greatest downfall in the history of music?
These threads are ridiculous. People need to realize who the band are is who they are. If they're playing a style of music now you don't like, don't listen. But Coldplay is Coldplay as they have always been Coldplay. I really don't know why people can't get over this...? And I say that because there have been plenty of bands I once listened to who I loved stuff they did and then I hated or was just neutral about their new stuff. Why do you have to all go on about it? Bands change. Depending on your perspective some get better some get worse. Some people need to go to grief counseling or something because it's slightly ridiculous.

MX Live DVD, can we expect it?
I think these festivals were actually a chance for the band to make sure the new songs and new show aspects could be pulled off as well as possible. My feeling is they'll do a live DVD release fairly soon into their touring, with a release mid-tour. Hopefully it's a double CD/DVD

If MTM remains only a b-side, where does it rank among your favorites?
I'm going to operate under the assumption that all of Prospekt's March is off limits, as it was an EP anchored entirely by new music - not a single EP where there's a single and 2 or 3 extra new songs. Those I would consider b-sides. As MTM seems like it will fit that description, I would have to say that this is the best b-side I've ever heard Coldplay do. In my mind, even if I really enjoyed other b-sides of theirs, I always understood why they didn't make the album. And believe me, I have LOVED b-sides more than album songs. I just always was like, oh yeah this doesn't really fit or this is a bit different. But with MTM, everything about the production values just seems to me like a standout song on an album. It's honestly one of the most complex songs I've heard Coldplay make structurally, and they just hit it out of the park for me. The song is as perfect as it could be in my mind. So ranked...number 1.

LP1,2,3 OR LP4,5
And as far as where mx will fit into that, I expect from what we've heard, it will compete with viva for my affections if not top it

LP1,2,3 OR LP4,5
I realize most of these broad discussions turn into a discussion of why eno sucks or x&y sucked, but this has been decidedly more civil. Personally, I think x&y is the worst album. I would explain it like this. Most people have had a stale potatoe chip or flat soda. That's what x&y was for me - stale. It still was coldplay, just more boring. Eno injected life and passion into their music for me. For a while it was equal, but now album favorite is vlv with arobtth a close number 2. Parachutes a solid 3 and way far away x&y. And understand I'm speaking to them as albums. X&y has plenty of great songs. I just consider it a grueling listen

Am I the only one who disagrees with the MX promotion?
Great point about the damned if they do damned if they don't. I admit I did want to hear some new stuff at the festivals. I think the perfect thing they could have done was play only the songs released with etiaw. Would have been fresh stuff but not enough to ruin. I definitely don't blame the band for anything though. I'm really proud and happy with the work theyve been doing. I hope the album still manages to surprise me!

Am I the only one who disagrees with the MX promotion?
as far as i'm concerned i went slightly out of my way to hear these new songs. i basically listened to them knowing full well that it might make the album experience less fresh and new. i definitely haven't worn any of the new songs out, as i never put them into itunes or on my ipod, but i already know them extremely well at their core level. i don't necessarily think it's a bad idea for the band to do what they did, but i think it certainly takes a bit out of the va-voom out of the official release. i'll do my best not to listen to any of the songs for the next two months (i think i can safely do that), but i'm hoping that paradise is released with a b-side of some sort, as that will make it a lot easier. i think there's something to releasing one single, if not two (with the second one being the BIG one), before the album, but i do think the fact that this promotion has sort of been a long period of minimal day to day promotion isn't the best way to go about it. there's a middle ground between just throwing out your album one day out of the blue and extremely slowly getting the word out, and i think that's the best place for a big band to be. the summer festival circuit may not be conducive to that, but i think two months before the eventual release is the best time to really put anything out there. it makes the teasing less excruciating...

What score will Pitchfork give Coldplay?
while pitchfork definitely rips on coldplay, i think most of their ripping has been from a place that made sense. i love coldplay, they're my favorite band, but a lot of that doesn't have to do with how incredible their albums are in comparison to other bands musically. they reach me at a personal level very little other music can. that said, i really think coldplay are primed to get their best album rating yet, probably closer to 7.5. the tracks that we've heard sound good and i bet their album versions will musically push themselves further than they ever have before. i don't think they were kind in their evaluation of viva. i think they were right on the mark for them. but this time i think it'll be up even higher.

TIMELINE ICON SOLVED!!!
It's a clock............................................................................... What are some of you guys going to be doing when there's no more Coldplay "MYSTERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" to solve?
-
I'm positive PoC will not be left off MX!!
Definitely on the album as Phil tweeted abt it
-
Hey Coldplay, this is your Joshua Tree moment, don't mess it up.
Fact - coldplaying will never be a good place to have a debate about music because enough people on here like only mainstream bands AND they often confuse what it is to be a mainstream band. People can be a bit immature on this site. Which is fine. Everyone has been at one point or another. It just means that an intelligent debate about music cannot take place here. Too many people confuse having an opinion with knowing something.

Up In Flames the new Clocks?
Actually the song you're thinking of was the scientist. The band had written all the other songs, and what came last was the scientist. The "missing piece" for arobtth. I know this because ive made it my business to know everything about that song as its my favorite. In that sense it does sound like the band consider it a missing piece, but who can say what that means about its potential popularity.
-
Hey Coldplay, this is your Joshua Tree moment, don't mess it up.
It is definitely a similar moment if only because viva la vida really did catapult them to the front of everyone's minds. Basically there's a lot riding on the success of the album - speaking critically and commercially. It really doesn't matter what anyone on this site thinks. We're already coldplay fans. What matters is if they get a lot more people to like them. I don't mean being mainstream. Cause despite what some people on this thread think...they already are that.
