Paul is one of the best in the business. I don't like 360 based on it being big for the sake of being big. ZooTv was big to make fun of themselves. Popmart was big to make fun of media and the world. It seems to me 360 is just to cram more people into the stadium, its cool granted. Just not my thing. By the way, Im critical because I expected better. One day I will see them again when they get over this spending money for the sake of it. U2 will profit because those numbers dont include merchandise. Which saved their asses with PopMart.

I cant argue they do what they believe in. I just dont believe in it.

U2
I fully intend to with this band from now on. I have been spoiled by Pearl Jam, Rob Thomas and Bryan Adams. A show not coregraphed to the second. A Jeans, T-shirt, go out play on a simple stage, no major lighting and visual effects. One where they can play music they want and aren't tied to their fucking lights. Yes Coldplay is just as guilty, but they also didnt spend $110 million on a stage and lights. The claw was cool for the BEP and thats about it. U2 need to go back to the music and not lighting cues. If I wanted a show I'd go to Broadway. I want to see 4 guys play from their hearts, not to generate profit. Coldplay played Wembley with their hearts, U2 did not. U2 played Barcelona with their hearts, U2 did, only because it was a monday for them.

U2
I didnt follow the set list. I watched a world first, the greatest band on earth play on YouTube for free. The sound was good, thats the one thing I disagree with people on, where I was at least. I expect a core, I saw Coldplay who didn't mess things up. U2 are above using comfort and lighting cue to not jumble it up a bit. They only have 14 albums to work with opposed to 4.5. Adam has the flu apparently. Larry was normal to me, from the DVDs I've seen. Bono was off and Edge doesn't have the head mic to be on the ramp more, its so he can save Bono's ass and harmonize with a real voice. I expected more from them. I enjoyed The Edge. I only leave concerts that I know how are ending and want to beat the rush out. I left night one of Coldplay 30 seconds early, night two I was on the floor for 30 more minutes after the show. Sporting games, sometimes.

U2
Oh right Im wrong it wasnt the exact same. They didnt show the video of the guy at the end of IALW, and they didn't do the Zoobaby. Other then that it was the exact same. Oh yeah and a Happy Birthday for Bill Gates. I will never spend money on this band again. I now feel happy pirating their music. Best part of the concert, leaving after Streets and getting home before the concert was over.

U2
Except the show last night sucked. I was unsatisfied with them largely, it became a formulated piece of shit to me. The only good part was Edge. Bono couldn't sing, and Edge showed him up multiple times. Bono didnt play to the crowd at all. Way to show us you love us, his proclaimed favorite city in Canada. Larry was tired and didnt care. Adam was Adam. I was mad, I could have watched Rose Bowl as it was the EXACT SAME.

Viva la Vida Concert DVD
Well here is the thing about Wembley. They need to decide if they want to give Uncle Jay a cut of all the money earned or not. Thats my view of it.

Viva la Vida Concert DVD
It was Vancouver. The only show actually filmed for a full DVD release was Barcelona. Which was botched, Vancouver was insane! As was Wembley. I hope they release A mix of Wembley and Barcelona and full Vancouver, that would be cool to get both the Arena and stadium shows. Both of which were amazing in their own rights!

U2
Im stoked for tonights YouTube show! Its going to be an awesome preview to Wednesday for me, where hopefully they rip out of their set for the last two months and rock out for their favorite North American city! It will be off the hook for sure!

One thing you don't like about Coldplay?
That all the Viva songs are mostly pre-recorded live. Im okay with a synth backing (In My Place, Clocks, Fix You) but the drumming in Lost!, Violin in 42, almost all of Viva La Vida. I'd like to see more 4 man rock then all the sounds live!

U2
So 360 is cheaper then Zoo TV? Impressive. I know Zoo TV and Popmart were over a million a gig!

Audio Schools?
I know I was interested for a while and still am. In BC, BCIT is the place to be. I just apprentice under a couple people I know, In studio and live. Some big gigs too. U2 coming up and I get to watch, both in studio, and their board live!

Pearl Jam
Easily the best song of the grunge era! Hunger Strike is amazing. Chris and Chester Bettington of Linkin Park did a good version a few times.

Coldplay penned "Lukas", "Fun" and "Want" on Natalie Imbruglia album [UPDATE 8th Aug 2010: Album fl
She said she was honored to have an Eno credit on her album, even though she had never worked with him. The music on Lukas are all Jonny, Chris, Will and Guy, produced by Brian. Chris has two other writer credits. Everytime I listen to Lukas I just imagine Chris.

Lukas should have been on the album with Chris and Will singing it.

Pearl Jam
I kind of wanted the opener to be Why Go followed by Corduroy. But go everything else I wanted to see, save for Daughter. I got Alive, Even Flow, and the most important Betterman. Overall though I was happy with the show. Also Rockin In The Free World or Baba O'Riley could have been an okay addition. They did say "See you next year" though! As per the 4 Philly shows, get to at least two. They will likely play around 80 different songs over the 4 days.

Pearl Jam
Last night was fucking amazing! Best concert, just behind Coldplay. Set List: In My Tree, Save You, The Fixer, Severed Hand, Johnny Guitar, Given To Fly, MFC, Even Flow, Amongst The Waves, Sad, Unthought Known, Light Years, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Grievance, No Way, Got Some, Rearviewmirror 1st encore: I Got Shit, Love, Reign O'er Me, Breath, State Of Love And Trust, Alive 2nd encore: Last Kiss, Indifference w/ Ben Harper, Wasted Reprise, Better Man/(Save It For Later), Yellow Ledbetter And oh man what a concert it was! Im a semi-Pearl Jam fan. Not a super hardcore fan like I am for Coldplay or U2. Enough to recognize 12 of the 28 songs, but still rock out toall of them. My girlfriend was used to the pansy ass 21/19 song sets from Coldplay and Kings of Leon. Pearl Jam delivered. It was by far an amazing experience. I was a little tired and sat between encores and some songs, but I love it all!

Favourite live song of the Viva tour?
For me it was In My Place, that song was made to be played infront of thousands of people. Also due to the fact Jonny and Chris were no less then a foot away half the song. Followed by Lovers, my favourite track off of the album, live its even better. The butterflies were (had to change to past tense) the best part of the show, very creative. Also getting the parasol made it all the best. Third was easily Politik, mind you, it was very blinding that close, but still epic. Viva was the fourth, the ohhhs and Chris falling right infront of me. Lastly was the C-stage, the one part of the show I stayed away from keeping myself in the loop of. Of course I knew it was happening, but the songs were great.

Viva la Vida Concert DVD
Too many points to quote. First off the Sound board issues. That thought crossed my mind. I do believe the issues were coming out of the board, I honestly believe it was mis-matched wires and nothing more. I Know how to do sound set up at that level. They indeed likely didn't notice because of their in ear monitors, but you can still hear with them in. As well the crowd mics they place will still have the chants and the B-stage moment. As to the signs posted, the ones around GM Place were from the company that did the Live 2003. Said we consented all that jazz. I wish I had taken a picture when I was in line. (In fact it was almost the exact same as the one you posted, logo and everything. So three shows shot with the company) Also the portable camera guys were in Vancouver too, I didnt notice them the first night, but when I was up front, they were up and down all night. One with a camera, another following him taking the film from him and labeling it. I still think they should do something a la NIN. Which was get crew with HD Handhelds (like the ones used to shoot the TV show The Office), put them throughout the crowd for a handful of concerts, then released them all for free. Over 120GB of video footage, from 8 locations I think. To this point, Barcelona, in my mind was the intended spot for the DVD. The only of the three recent shows with a crane set up. Vancouver, was for the archives as per what Andy told me the night of and Deb reaffirmed later on. Based off the way Wembley was done, I believe it is the same story. So now we await official word from them. My gut says Barcelona, although we all know how self conscious the boys get. They didn't release How We Saw The World because it wasnt good enough. I think we'll see all 3 concerts in our collections one day. Archives usually mean, to be released years down the road to improve sales. Look at U2 and all their old archived concerts seeing the light of day. I would also approve of all three.

As the Viva-era concludes, let's re-listen.
Listening to LiT now, this song gives me the chills every time. I just think of the three times I heard Light Throught The Veins and started cheering. The first time was an accident actually. At Pemberton they were having sound issues all night, and they were testing out the system before Coldplay were to go on, and they player LiT from 43 seconds for about 5 seconds, it was torture. Hard to believe its been more then two years since we were all up waiting for Violet Hill. Its been a great two years, 3 amazing concerts. I dont think I'll ever be that close again. Getting the Lovers parasol from Chris. Been a great two years. My only regret, not making the I (Heart) Guy T-shirts, if only I'd of known that I would have been as close as I was. Im going to miss Viva La Vida Tour. But I look forward to the next tour. The NEw album and more great memories.

Viva la Vida Concert DVD
So I've followed this very closely as I have a lot invested. United Center was the first leg filming for the Lost! video as well presumably for the archives as a first leg show. Now until June, that was the only show filmed, until Vancouver. Where Chris said many times DVD, but Rodies had told people it was for the archives. It is now clear Barcelona was the DVDs intended location, and a good one it would have been. But, sound fucked up and well, not going to happen with the audience chanting "we cant hear you" Apparently, they filmed Fridays show, but I have only seen the one line on the main page. So What I suspect it they may be forced to go with either Wembley which apparently was lackluster. Barcelona, which sound was messed up on. Vancouver, which may not of ever been intended for releases (absence of the crane). Or Chicago, which was leg one. We will get a DVD though.
