[25-June-2011] Coldplay @ Glastonbury festival, Worthy Farm, Pilton, UK
Also to all you people who say they seemed nervous and screwed up a lot. U2 screwed up 'Where the Streets Have No Name" not once, not twice but three times. Thats the obvious fuck ups too. I didn't notice any Coldplay ones except the one he stopped. So appreciate!

[25-June-2011] Coldplay @ Glastonbury festival, Worthy Farm, Pilton, UK
I was excited all day to watch this online. I was planning as far back as last year to go to Glasto, but money interfered and prevented me from making the trek. So I figured watching with my sound system cranked was the next best thing. Yes, they did look nervous. However from Politik on they killed it. Today I fell back in love with Coldplay. I was enjoying it, then my favourite song Politik came on, and the notes Jonny added to the solo were, AMAZING. They woke the crowd up with Viva La Vida, and Charlie Brown has already become a classic. Watching this I acted like I was there, dancing and singing my lungs out. It brought back so many good memories of the Coldplay shows I've been to. Festivals are notorious for being plagued with technical problems, its to be expected with so many different bands setting up into the same sound board in such short a time, as well as no real soundchecks. Coldplay has asserted themselves as the big band of our time, and with U2 fading off into irrelevance, they are poised to become the biggest band in the world, this show, the new album and tour will either cement that, or keep Coldplay on the top of tier two in the music world. Much can be made of them not including a U2 cover, Im sure they mulled over it for quite awhile. They are huge fans, but they decided to do what they knew and not what was expected. I did think Jay-Z would come out for his verse in Lost! but they likely wanted it to be about them and their show. Jay would have been freaking cool but would have taken away from the overall specialness of the night! U2 covering Coldplay shows that they acknowledge that they are huge and the new kids in town. It was Bono showing mutual respect, we all already know Chris respects them, no need to pet their egos.

The 100,000 strong arent all hardcore fans like us. Sure we know the lyrics to Hurts Like Heaven, Major Minus, Us Against the World and Charlie Brown. But they wanted sing a longs in there. I felt they killed the set a bit in the middle, Clocks should have been in there not the Encore. Other than that, Im even more depressed I didnt get tickets, fly over and go!

I was glad to hear them put slight new spins on the classics. U2 cover, Jay-Z appearance were both too obvious. They did what they did and it was great. This will be the only show I see in real time, till the arena tour so I loved it!

Isn't the new song a great summer song?
First sunny day here in Vancouver and I had it playing all day, just felt right. It'll defiantly be apart of the summertime soundtrack.

Rate 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' now!
For those songs you all mentioned, do not forget that they were not singles, aside from Clocks. This is a radio single meant for one purpose. To make money. Granted to do that it must be good, and this song is good. It shows a good direction and lets reserve judgement on LP5 till it comes out!

So I opened up my e-mail the other day to see that they finally announced PJ20. I sat there thinking of how I will go into debt to see them before I leave and travel to Alpine Valley. Then I saw that they are doing a Canadian tour as well, and squealed like a little girl on christmas. Oddly enough they are playing Vancouver exactly 2 years since their last show. My 10C pre-sale is tomorrow, then I get to stress all summer hoping I won the lottery!

The Snow Patrol Thread
I have a story to tell you about my favorite Snow Patrol song. I need to tell someone, and you guys and gals get it. The story is about "Please Just Take These Photo's From My Hands". Upon first listen I fell in love with this song, and today I just fell even harder for it. The yellowed page of the books and books I'd forgotten that I had These paperbacks, they know their age they smell Of weight and time that's resting warm The opened box beside the endless box parade That haunts my house Is fit to split with photographs that tell The wanderlust of years smashed on to years These two verses are obviously telling of how he like most people have stowed things away, in a closet or attic and the have been out of sight and out of mind. Until he stumbles upon them one day. A little back story here. Me and my girlfriend broke up a while ago (About two months) and I was in love with this girl. She was the girl I wanted to spend my entire life with. However things weren't always good between us. I have been battling personal demons for a long time and I do not do well in relationships. I have a lot of memories with her and cherish them a lot. However much like the guy in the song I have stowed them away in all the hurt of life. I had forgotten them until today and found a box of old Yearbooks (or Annuals). I started looking at the pictures of her, and us. It hit me like a train much like the guy in the song. I read your name under words in your elegant hand You probably don't mean now I fold the letter and think of a million And one thing's that I could have done different This verse is the one that completely sums everything up in two sentences. I read her comment under her hand. Which set me to think of everything I messed up, how I blame myself for a lot of thing in the relationship and I feel I destroyed it. I feel I could write down a million things I could have done differently. When all this actual life played out Where the hell on earth was I? I rack my brains but it won't come Through water damaged bloodshot eyes The fleeting triumphs, brazen lies All seem to mingle into one Due to the depression and all the personal issues, I was and still kind of am a bit of a recluse. So when a lot of events happened I tended to not go, or if I did wasn't at all there. In fact I left prom due to my own selfishness. I rack my brain as to why I acted so childish and I knew what I was doing at the time but didn't care about my actions. One gigantic fairy tale Of friends I haven't seen in years Drinking till the daylight hurts You seem friendly, who are you? That's a lot of wine that we got through We've made playtime look like work Remembering upon the better times and how I should have focused on the fun in life and not the hard stuff. This song is a flood of emotions for me, sorry if my thoughts go over the map. This song has just hit me like a tone of bricks. I sit here and think of how I had it all, and now I'm looking to move forward in life, however I feel I will always hold a special place for her. However, I hope I have learned what I needed to from this. I will listen to this song as my plane flys away from Vancouver towards Glasgow...and only look back when I need to.

You know what they are pretty good. I don't mind good folk/country. Kinda like I dislike Celtic influenced music, but love Mumford and Sons.

Well I wont be here much longer. Its a Suburb of Vancouver actually, just super close to the I-5, so Seattle is quick and easy.
