  1. I stopped at two listenings, but I might cave in tomorrow. :juggle:
  2. This! I think that´s why a lot of ETIAW lovers felt attacked. A lot of posts were respect less of other people´s enjoyment of the song/new material.
  3. That would be nice but then BBC 1 will be disappointed :) And moreover it´s so cozy to all meet up here on Monday for the listening party :)
  4. I think it is perplexing such heavy criticism on a Coldplay FAN site. Usually fans are supposed to look at the positive side :) I must agree there is more criticism than I had expected for the new album, but it does not bother me much. Anyone can come here to share their opinion at the end of the day....just surprising, that´s all :)
  5. Ah I can relate to the cry of joy quote...I feel exactly the same! They touch something divine deep in my soul. (call me cheese, but there it is!)
  6. So the Oracle was wrong? It is a foreign language (new language) and it has no meaning? Hmm I think there is more to it than this. Thanks for sharing!
  7. No I think there is a point in sharing your opinion on something, whether negative or not, but there is no point in basing that opinion only on the following criteria "it does not sound like what Coldplay used to do". That is a criteria often used on this forum and I think that it is a miserable life as a fan, not accepting that Coldplay are changing and always hoping for what they used to know and love.
  8. Goes to show how different we all are I guess....they totally got me after the first 5 seconds of strings!
  9. I think he did not mean it that way. I took it as in "go with the change". Coldplay always change, so it is kinda pointless to criticize them because they did not make the old music they used to...
  10. I think early fans are the ones who seem to really get upset about the new material. I do understand their point of view, but the sooner we all accept that Coldplay are and will always be changing, the better for everyone. It must also be hard for people to come to this forum, of their favorite band, to voice how disappointed they are in them!
  11. I don´t think there are any haters per se, but I think a lot of Coldplay fans have sky high expectations and they have a strong emotional attachment to their favorite Coldplay songs, maybe from the first album, so they feel a new direction might disappoint them. I also think the MX era provoked a lot of criticism, maybe more than ever before, but this is what happens when a band chooses to change and evolve, regardless of what others think. It´s them against the world :)
  12. I guess it comes down to two things. 1- They are going to play the songs they like playing best live and those that fit within the setlist 2- I think they don´t want to disappoint any audience and want to offer the big hits to every concert goer, so that everyone gets the same experience of the best Coldplay has to offer That said, I do agree with you: their back catalogue is incredible!
  13. I know and like One Republic but can´t see the similitude...
  14. Let´s suffer together. I also want to hold out...:indianbrave:
  15. Yes! This could be their coronation as world´s biggest (and hardest working) band :)
  16. I initially thought the way they parted Mylo Xyloto on the cover could have a significance, but I am starting to think it was only for aesthetic purposes...
  17. Can we get a 30 seconds preview of your song? If it´s better than Paradise, I want it NOW :)
  18. There are SO many days until then and so many tempting youtube videos....argh!
  19. The first name Mylo surely suggests this is a person. Xyloto suggests he/she is someone not from around here...but yes why not the running/flying man? It could be!
  20. I totally agree! I don´t understand people saying that´s too cheesy. Coldplay deals with emotions, so it´s no surprise that they would come up with titles like that. In my opinion, something is cheesy only when it´s maudlin and not heartfelt. I think Coldplay always portray heartfelt emotions, hence they can never be cheesy :)
  21. Well we know Chris loves hip-hop artists and I am sure he has been dying to incorporate some of that in Coldplay (starting from Lost), so it´s no surprise that the rhythms of hip hop find their way into MX. I think it´s all part of their evolution. I am constantly amazed at how they travel from genre to genre but never fail to move me :)
  22. Yeah, that would be cool right? SOmething like that would tie the alien and back to the future theme nicely
  23. How 14 tracks came to be.... :chris: I really think we should have 24 tracks...42 backwards, get it? It´s brilliant! :jonny: *Smiles widely* Great idea Chris! I´d better go and get those 24 solos worked out. :will: I veto that. Next suggestion? :guy: *impatient tone* Hurry guys! I need the album on the USB stick so I can forget it on the bus.... :phil: How about 14 tracks? That would just about please everyone.

  25. A hidden track together with a 14-track album? I sure would not complain, but that would certainly qualify as going all the way out on this one! I say: bring it on :)
