  1. I think Coldplay are influenced by what they hear and like and this finds its way into their music. Personally I think it was very brave of them to move so out of their comfort zone.
  2. Hehe I never thought you were criticizing my opinion :) And yes people believe according to their expectations often. I just think that if this was only EMI, Chris would not be gushing about pop artists any chance he gets. I am not a Rhianna fan per se, but this will still be a Coldplay song only FEATURING Rhianna, so chances are if you liked POC before you will like it on the album hopefully! :)
  3. I respect your opinions guys but I am amazed you would think Coldplay need to expand their fan base...they were PRETTY successful with Viva and even X&Y back in the days. I guess we all have our ideas about the reasons behind MX direction
  4. We are all just speculating but Chris is genuinely appreciative of pop artists like Jay-Z, so I don´t find their new direction shocking. I think Chris personally asked Rhianna, if I remember I read it on an article. They also explained why they changed from acoustic to MX-style in their interview, but I guess we can all believe what we want to believe, right? :)
  5. Comments might be stupid opinions as you call them, but how about this then? It sure looks like most people like the song :) 2,984 likes, 67 dislikes
  6. Good morning ! Paradise has landed in Canada right? :)
  7. Well that I can understand then, you not liking both songs make sense :)
  8. ^I like that...spread their wings. That´s how I see it too :) They are coming out of their cocoon and not only Jonny :)
  9. YouTube and Twitter comments beg to differ. Most people sure think it´s catchy on first listen.
  10. If the duet with Kyle is anything to go by, they might split the song evenly between Chris and Rhianna.
  11. How is Paradise radically different from Lost? They both have hip-hop influences and are pretty poppish, yet unmistakeably Coldplay. I can only assume that people who don´t like Paradise also don´t like Lost?
  12. An independent label would not change a thing...Chris is and has been fascinated by pop for a long time (Coldplay have also cited A-Ha as one of their early influence), so this is the direction they want to take. There is no way the label is putting pressure on them. If that were so, Viva would have been a copy of X&Y. No I am 100% sure this is what they want to do and you can tell by the dedication they put in their music and their enthusiasm.
  13. I am also fascinated by how they move to uncharted territory (for them). They are brave, regardless. Not many bands dare change like this
  14. If you think Paradise is mainstream, wait until you hear Princess of China feat. Rhianna ;) I don´t think they deliberately chose Paradise in order to please the mainstream, but because it represents the overall mood of MX. We shall see when the album drops. Coldplay have been saying how they love the fact that genres are blending now in music and it´s ok to like Metallica and Justin Bieber at the same time...it just shows in their music that they don´t care about genre and they are brave enough to venture wherever their music takes them. I for one follow suit.

  16. Then you must have a better explanation than mine in mind :)
  17. Oh yes but first in December. You are not saying you are going to hold out on hearing the album until December? hehe:lol:
  18. Ah so the song might not be in the live setlist of future MX concerts
  19. As overall album sales, or just one album? And high sales both in Europe and USA or just in USA? Anyway mine was and remains just a guess. I don´t know why most journalists and such call Coldplay the greatest band in the world. Of course they are to me, but I don´t know what criteria they use
  20. Ah I can see a lot of people are divided like me...I like both tracks, even though Paradise was an immediate like for me
  21. ^It is a shame. Provided we get a high quality mp3 download, I will only be missing the booklet :(
  22. I doubt Black Eyed Peas have sold as much as Coldplay. I am just saying that Coldplay are called the biggest band in the world by many people probably because of their sales, wide appeal (USA and Europe) and success at live concerts. I can´t see what other criteria they could possibly be using as "great=musically best" is a matter of opinion
