We don´t know yet how big or small Rhianna´s part in the song is, so we don´t know whether it´s gonna sound worse live. I think she just has a cameo in the song. And Coldplay being pop? Well I always thought Yellow was PRETTY pop all in all and definitely mainstream, so I might be wrong here but the new stuff does not shock me much: it´s just an evolution of their sound

I agree. That was below the belt. Let us remember Coldplay are FOUR people, not just Chris and we all know they democratically and brutally vote on each song, so this is the direction they all chose to take. Like it or not, but don´t start blaming it on others...:rolleyes:

Hmm I think they were always upbeat, but it is typical english to be self-deprecating. I am glad they outgrew that and got the courage to branch out and do whatever they want :)

I guess it´s a matter of opinions and perspectives...I see them as blossoming and coming out more and more from their comfort zone. This seems to be confirmed by them in interviews and such. In the beginning they were shy, but now they are embracing whatever they feel like making, regardless of how it´s going to be received. Regardless of the change, I still am and always have heard Coldplay signature in each of their songs, so they stay true throughout.

I am not sure whether this is limited or just deluxe...I think it will be made to order and that´s why it comes out in December, but what do I know :) I pre-ordered and will wrap it when it arrives and will open on Christmas eve. It´s gonna be sweeeeeet! Just hope the mp3 are high quality!

However I don´t get it how a lot of people seem to be surprised by this...after all Chris has been singing praises for mainstream artists for YEARS (girls aloud anyone?), so it is clear to me it was just a matter of time before they incorporated some of that in their albums, however to me it is still unmistakably Coldplay and that´s what matters

Yes I don´t get that because the early preview really hinted at how the song was going to sound. I LOVE the lyrics but it might be because they resonate with me. I don´t see them as cheesy but genuinely hopeful and boy do we need to hear that often on planet earth...especially girls :)
