RADIOHEAD, GORILLAZ and RAZORLIGHT are amongst the bands who will contribute to a new album being put together in aid of WAR CHILD. 'Help: A Day in the Life' will mark the 10th anniversary of the ’Help’ album in 1995. The project aims to compile the best bands of this generation and give them one day to record a new piece of music, which War Child will make available on http://www.warchildmusic.com on September 9. A CD release will follow a few weeks later. Other bands already confirmed include The Zutons, Manic Street Preachers, Bloc Party, Hard-Fi, The Coral, Elbow and Maximo Park. War Child boss Mark Waddington said: “As a music fan, I know what the original ’Help’ album meant and as the present CEO of War Child I know what it achieved. It was my intention that any new album we made in 2005 should match up to the feats of the past. That’s why we have set ourselves the challenge of remaking history and releasing the fastest album ever… again! It’s a tall order but we feel with the support of amazing artists we can make it happen and help a new generation of children affected by war.” War Child was launched in 1993 as a response to the affect of the Balkans conflict on children. In 1995, 20 of the UK’s bands and artists went into studios across Europe to each produce a track for ’Help’, the fastest-ever number one album in British music history.

UK will only get two releases. Just the digipack enhanced maxi-single and the 7" vinyl single.

It could and should be their first #1 hit single. I urge every single fan in the UK to buy the single for themselves, and perhaps even a second copy for a friend or something.

'X&Y' obviously is their 'new album'. Even in about a year from now it still will be referred to as their 'new album'.

AROBTTH has 'A Whisper', and therefore my vote goes to X&Y.

Parachutes 4.5 AROBTTH 4.5 X&Y 5 X&Y isn't perfect though, but it's pretty damn close. And yes, I reckon it's their best album. There's not a single track I don't like.

I'll be seeing them in 2 weeks. Had to choose between them and Kaiser Chiefs. Hard pick, but I'll give The Subways a shot.

As you can judge by my nickname, I absolutely love Radiohead. I don't get why people think they are boring. They are one of the most exciting live bands I have ever seen, and listening to their albums cheers me up immensely. But I haven't listened to them in quite a while. I don't want to stick to Radiohead alone. There's tons of other bands to check out. But they will remain, and have been since 1997, my favourite band in the world today.... :cool:

Definitely loving this show, although the current series are a bit disappointing compared to the previous three.
