The thread of SHOEGAZE!!
For an excellent cover of "I Dont Know Why I Love You" - check out Ivy's version of it. She has the most beautiful voice (im totally blanking out on the lead singers first name). Actually Ivy could put out anything and Id listen to it.

Bloc Party
I really liked it the first go-around. I hope I get to see them again volunteering for Oxfam. If not - well I can see them at Lollapalooza. I have seen them since their very first outing to the states in the wee small clubs.

The thread of SHOEGAZE!!
I love Mazzy Star - saw them support Jesus & Mary Chain Id also add early Dandy Warhols which was very shoegaze Catherine Wheel were always good stuff Sam (Fogarino of Interpol) and Adam (Swervedriver) have a new band that is just perfect - I saw them live as Setting Suns - but theyve changed their name. Midnight Movies is also really good (newer) and can never go wrong with Ride or the Cocteau Twins Asobi Seksu is really good as well. For the more dreampop Mallory is worth listening to and for the gothic side - Love Spirals Downwards (much less of the heavy guitars) and whoever mentioned Serena Maneesh - theyre awesome. and the other day I heard a cover of "Christine" from the House of Love. I cringed - it wasnt the same. (from apollo heights) if anyone is wanting to hear it. Most my friends are really into shoegaze music so we're always on the lookout for bands.

New Coldplay Shop
Does anyone have any of the lithographs? They'd be perfect for a collection of some lithographs I have and would definitely add to it. Wondering how they look and all.

How old are coldplay listeners?
Just turned 34 - egads! first heard them on San Francisco radio - Live 105 - parachutes (not sure if it was yellow or don't panic - but prob one of those two). My first thoughts: these guys are a f'ing rip-off of Travis.

Heheh, More Pathetic Coldplay Bashing
Im seeing Radiohead in August and can't wait. Ive heard amazing things about their shows (friends traveling all over the world to see them). The last time I saw them was for Pablo Honey which was obviously eons ago. It will be interesting to see how they compare with Coldplay in October.

TODAY SHOW (27th JUNE) COLDPLAYING EXCLUSIVE OVER - VIP PASS WINNERS ANNOUNCED
loved the videos :) Just talked to my mom who recorded the show for me as she was looking for me. but the comment that i just loved was 'i forgot how much i loved coldplay. i knew most the songs.' LOL. I pretty much said WTF! I dont even know how she knew some of the songs but i was impressed she still remembered 'clocks' and 'in my place'. lord knows how much i used to play the hell out of them when i still lived in california. i guess all my favorite bands rubbed off on her. i only wish i was taking her to see coldplay somewhere but unfortunately she wont be on the east coast when im seeing them. maybe some tickets in san jose would be awesome :) i must say it so made my night. well seeing morgan freeman and frances mcdormand on the stage blew my mind away so that just was icing on the cake. and if anyone is in new york city - if you have a chance check out 'the country girl'. fabulous play and they are amazing to watch. frances mcdormand is true genius!

Support bands during the u.k. tour
Since editors wont likely happen - I think Bloc Party could be an interesting opener or even The Kaiser Chiefs.... or for a smaller band White Lies (they sound an awful lots like editors) and Paul & The Park - Maximo Park boys would be just too awesome (of course Id go into cardiac arrest) ok maybe i should amend the list and add The Kooks.

Ever been to Coldplay concert solo?
I was supposed to meet up with a group of friends during their last tour. But Nissan pavillion is a bitch to get to, and we all drove separately. We all had pit tix so I made sure to get in the very front. My friends got caught in bad traffic. One friend didnt make the show and another friend got there later and was somewhere in the middle of the pit. I had a great time, and it was amazing to see how many people were there to see rilo kiley. met all sorts of people around me and we all danced and had fun. i was so close to the band that the whole thing was surreal. i go to a good chunk of concerts alone and meet all sorts of people. often times its the photographers that are in the front (for the smaller NYC shows) - so Ive met a lot of very interesting people. :) Sometimes I prefer going alone - you never know who youre going to meet. My favorite bands are the Australian bands to see alone. The Aussies seem to be some of the most friendly people I've ever met.

Help Oxfam America & See Coldplay! (Volunteer Discussion Thread)
where abouts in cali are you?? and nice to find other Gaiman fans out there. I am sometimes in touch with Aaron Axelson (of Live 105) if youre in the bay area. as they are having lots of summer festies out there - there might be ways to volunteer. and have tons of friends in LA (from going to school at ucsb) i know in NYC - each summer festival (river to river, summerstage, etc) all use volunteers. And I highly suggest people in NYC to volunteer for some festival this summer. The rewards are so worth it, (free music - yeah some are already free shows), but you meet great people and feel great afterwards. and btw - im in california throughout the year and always am trying to find other people to go to shows with (it seems none of my friends like going anymore - something about old age *cough cough*) .. perhaps if youre in the bay area we'll meet up sometime (for a coldplay show or otherwise) or even to discuss the greatness of Neil Gaiman. Ive met him a handful of times and he might be the coolest person ever! neverwhere is f'ing genius!

as posted in the other thread - before i get back to cleaning with coldplay (at least the cleaning becomes more bearable with coldplay blaring in the background) it took forever to upload these and managed to crash my computer forcing me to move a bunch of pics to my external drive. its all worth it after checking these out. theres about 135 give or take on my flickr account - ill attach some of my favorites.. The rest of them are here Coldplay photoset and this is quite possibly my favorite picture ever

Help Oxfam America & See Coldplay! (Volunteer Discussion Thread)
Sweet! I can volunteer for Bloc Party in NYC. Thanks for the heads up. Might have to see what other Coldplay shows I could find a way to :) And its a great cause. Been a member for years now. Btw - if youre reading this Oxfam - have you ever considered setting up a booth to raise awareness at Summerstage?? It seems like that'd be the perfect place to do that seeing that this year we have bands from all over (just had a day out with a bunch of bands from Africa). I can prob help you get connected with the right person if its of interest. I volunteer there as well.
