CD Giveaway from within the 2009/10 shows - post your experiences
I completely agree! Being right at the front, I thought that they might have run out of them by the time I came to leave. At my gate I spoke to an "information" person who said I should go to gate M, where I went - there were none. I spoke to another info person who said I should go to gate J - there were none. I then spoke to a third "info" person who said - round the corner - there were none. I gave up, as I didn't want to miss the last tube. Organisation at Wembley was a joke, but befits the history of the modern stadium's re-birth!

Post piccies of the sexy Mr Berryman..
I would compare Berryman with a good wine: he's got a lot better with age! The other thing I note is that the older pics of Guy (when he was a heavy drinker and party animal) he always looks very "laddish" ( I recall also the lost shoe photo and him sleeping in that pub) but these days he looks very metro.... in fact über, über metro.... :)

Ask the Angie
Angie for Oracle, Phil for photoblogger! Here's the deal: 1. Coup d'état in the Coldplay office 2. Angie instated as the new Oracle 3. Phil instated as new Roadie #42 Results: 1. Oracle now has a sense of humour and answers all fans questions! 2. Photo blogs are pleasing on the eye and wittier than a Wilde quote! * Vive La Revolution! * PS The real reason roadie #42's ain't done a blog from the last show is they saw mine and already fired him! :P

20 September 2009: Coldplay profiled on South Bank Show (VIDEOS IN FIRST POST)
Did I read that right about Guy, or was it a typo or Freudian slip? :)
-
Ask the Angie
;) Well didn't he buy a house in the country? Was it a cottage? ;)
-
Ask the Angie
A sticky question! Funniest thread I've seen here for a while! Q. Why does Guy like to spend so much of his time on Hampstead Heath?
-
Ask the Angie
LOL, I always thought it was Guy's personally! :)

What will you miss most about the Viva era?
Completely agree, I will miss it loads too but am sure they will come up with something equally fab!
-
Instrumental version of Viva La Vida
Where from? When did they release it?
-
[email protected] - any reply message from there?
Yes I noticed that too in the South Bank Show, they'll be the first band to write a song specifically about the Christmas lights I think. Plenty to sing about, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_lights

What will you miss most about the Viva era?
So many to choose from.... It's too difficult for me because i liked pretty much everything from it (I'm one of the few it seems that like the Revolutionary costumes from the 18th/19th century). I do hope they retain the butterflies idea though for future gigs when playing "Lovers in Japan" and that it becomes a Coldplay tradition rather than unique to the VLV era. It's too awesome to ditch, IMO.

LOL, I knew swilling from the gin bottle in a brown paper bag when I was in the queue was not a good way to convince others I'm not a raving alcoholic! [hic] :D

Viva La Feeder (with apologies to Chris Martin)
Someone asked me to dig out the Viva La Feeder I wrote back in summer 08 at last week's gig in response to Chris saying "he looked fat" at the time. Sorry I can't remember who it was who asked (it was last week) but I remembered today: (apologies to Chris for desecrating such a beautiful song) :) Viva La Feeder I used to booze the world Barrels dry when I gave the word Now in the morning I sleep alone Piss in the streets I used to own I used to roll the ice Feel the fear in my publican's eyes Listen as the crowd would sing: "Now the old king is drunk! Long drink the king!" One minute I fe-el boozy,, Next the trousers, don't fit me And I discovered that my waist-line stands Upon pillars of salt, and pillars of cans I hear Jerusalem artichokes are singeing, Roman meals we are a-bingeing Be my breakfast, my lunch and dinner The Michelin stars are just a winner! For some reason I can't explain Once you've gone there was never, ever a healthy curd That was when I boozed the world! (Ohhh) It was the wicked and wild tins Broke them all, and scoffed therein. Shattered diets and the sight of crumbs People couldn't believe how fat I'd become Dieticians wait For my head on a silver plate Just a fatty on a lonely string Oh who would ever want to be thin? I hear Jerusalem artichokes are singeing, Roman meals we are a-bingeing Be my breakfast, my lunch and dinner The Michelin stars are such a winner! For some reason I can't explain I know Weight- Watchers won't call my name Never a healthy curd And that was when I boozed the world (Ohhhhh Ohhh Ohhh) I hear Jerusalem artichokes are singeing, Roman meals we are a-bingeing Be my breakfast, my lunch and dinner The Michelin stars are such a winner! For some reason I can't explain I know Weight- Watchers won't call my name Never a healthy curd And that was when I boozed the world (Ohhhhh Ohhh Ohhh)

Coldplay tresure hunt
Does anyone else here recall the treasure hunt (probably peeps of a thiurtysomething age) that took place in the early 1980's to find a solid golden hare? It was a book which led you to various clues around the UK, one of which was in Sudbury Hall. Once you had worked out the clues you had enough information to locate the buried treasure. I thought of it only leaving Wembley because Chris instructed us to collect a copy of LRLRL upon leaving but nobody I saw leaving had one - they were like goldust. I asked at gate G they said to go to M, M had none either and nor did they "round the corner". (the copy I have is a downloaded one, I understand that the hard copy is different?) It got me thinking.. I've heard Chris Martin called "Willy Wonka". perhaps with their necxt album (or DVD) they could also have "golden tickets" with some copies which would allow the recipients to receive or participate in something with the band. Just a thought ! Or a Coldplay treasure hunt!

Instrumental version of Viva La Vida
Does anyone know if the instrumental version of Viva La Vida is available? It's been played on the South Bank Show last Sunday and also the Blackadder documentary last Christmas If not, please Coldplay can you release it either as an extra with your DVD or with something else?

I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing: LLL's photoblog: 19th Sep, Wembley
Viva La Vida: Viva Coldplay! Closing thoughts: Viva La Vida will always be a personal album for me. It's themes co-incided with a moment in my life which happened to be highly relevant. It's the album that transformed my view of the band from being "my favourite band" to someone I wanted to find a little bit more about them: what drives them, what motivates them to write such wonderful music and insightful lyrics. Queueing for 7 hours and making the front row was a tiny way of saying thankyou. I'm glad others have enjoyed these pics and comments. Viva La Vida the song itself will also be something special to me. Like an opera singer that finds the resonant frequency of a glass, VLV resonated with my soul in a way words cannot fully describe. I've often heard it called "Baroque pop" but I prefer the term "renaissance pop". It's the kind of song Motzart might have written had he had a time machine and tried to write something to fit in with the 21st century. It has a sense of harmony that's typical of all things 18th century, and the whole style of the VLV tour, from the costumes to the jackets to the artwork all heavily draws from this era in history (my favourite). " I don't know who came up with all the concepts like the artwork or costumes but it seems to me extremely well thought through: a sort of attention to detail few bands have and ever fewer manage to pull off successfully as Coldplay have clearly done. "Rennaissance pop" is also appropriate because in many ways this was a re-birth for the band too. A highly succssful one as well. A personal renaissance for me too, because without wanting to sound glib or trite, it's the music that helped me to find myself. Viva La Vida. Viva Coldplay!

The final huddle.... And that's all folks.... with the final emotional huddle, the VLV tour is officially over.... This was the best gig of my life (only U2's 1997 Pop Mart comes close IMO), and it was over too soon..... like all those euphoric moments in life, you just want to freeze them in time, but time moves on....
