  1. Please please no! Does anyone here know Chris? Should someone approach the band about it first (no point starting a petition if Chris doesn't want to do it).
  2. Yes Chris wearing a crown and a King's costume is doing funny things to me here too! ;)
  3. BBC Newsnight "review" has a long history (for those not familiar with it) of trashing modern pop culture or anything that is seen as remotely populist. That's what irriates them here. I guess the reason Chris takes the criticism to heart is because the thought of "does populist = Great or not"?" goes through his mind a lot: i.e are they are a Beatles or a Spice Girls? Let me say this. No one else but Chris Martin has the talent and wit to write lyrics about 18th Revolutionary France and set them to a very catchy theme, complete with 18th century-style strings, when all the other "cool kids" are writing about soppy summers of love and have problems strumming the chord of G. Give me Coldplay any day to the dross we have to endure in the Charts in the UK these days! As for Chris Martin himself, he comes across as warm, likeable, humourous, energetic and immensely likeable. I've always thought the hatred towards the man is jealousy, pure and simple. Here is an extract from a Newsnight blogger's reaction to that "review" which sums up my feelings very well and I'm sure is typical of most people's reactions to Chris when they see him live rather than listen to the dross written about him in the press
  4. Thanks, I just couldn't find the links! Much prefer the cover to the official one, very Depeche Mode/ Ultravox's Vienna!
  5. Sorry isn't that for Violet Hill, not Viva La Vida?
  6. Has anyone seen the official video for Viva La Vida? Has it been released yet? I'm rather hoping giving the vivd imagery Viva La Vida conjures they've gone for a mystical video - like Sting's If I Ever Lose My Faith in You - of castles, kings, choirs and missionaries.
  7. I hope the boys are involved in the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. It's supposed to be the green Olympics and that is a cause that Chris and the lads are actively involved in so they'd be ideal ambassadors as well. Please Chris, get involved! Your country needs you! (and I for one don't want to see the Spice Girls involved in our opening ceremony - a horrific thought :o, and likely given David Beckham is on the Olympic Committee!) Let the campaign now for a Coldplay involvement commence!
  8. I am so happy that the lads are getting good reviews in the US and Chris appears to be having a blast! Look forward to seeing them in the UK... I hope! :)
  9. 42 meaning? Now that "42" has come up, does anyone know if "42" is a reference to "Hitch Hiker's Guide to The Galaxy" (the meaning of life)? I remember once reading also that a lot of the imagery used in the X & Y 2005 tour was very reminiscent of Doctor Who's opening titles? Who's the sci-fi fan in the band, Chris?
  10. Well that's the one I'm talking about!
  11. Hope so, it would be what everbody doesn't expect them to do (i.e. release "Lost!" as their next single).
  12. He's v attractive currently, just not in that one! Religious imagery does nothing for me! :)
  13. No, that's why I made the Christ comparison!
  14. "I hear Jerusalem Bells are ringing Roman Cavalry choirs are singing Be my mirror, my sword and shield My missionaries in a foreign field" Just so as Chris doesn't change his name to David Icke, we'll be fine. Chris, it's Chris, not ChrisT :)
  15. LOL, you may be but I am hopeful! ;) The only other time I recall Chris mentioning Berryman's looks was @ the BBC gig when interviewed. He told us the story of a gay guy coming up to Chris at the end of one of their 2005 US shows saying "the show was great, but you need more light on him" [indicating Berryman].
  16. I got into their music long before I knew what any of them looked like. I like their music.. they're great musicians. It's interesting how the media hangs off Chris' little jokes these days... he's becoming like Tom Baker really to my mind, he just feeds the media with absolute - off-the-wall banality! I like him for doing so, it keeps us entertained! Chris Martin I never used to find sexy... until this year when I suddenly noticed him in that light. Maybe it's because he's been working out in the gym, or whatever but he's aged like a fine wine and is now v attractive! Berryman is more handsome... but Chris is more interesting. You get the impression there's more ambiguity with Chris than with Guy... and I never picked up on the "man crush" Chris has on Guy... interesting! :)
  17. LOL, reminds me of someone else with curly hair and a wide eyed-stare: That's it... Chris Martin for the next Doctor Who! :)
  18. Great pics! 2 things: What camera were you using? and is it just me, or has Chris really beefed up recently?
  19. LOL, and the irony was before "Girls on Film" they pose silently asking the audience to "get their film out, love" - having taken away their camera!
  20. Lucky enough to see them last night. Duran Duran were the soundtrack to my 80's - loved them back then and still do. The set pieces were very good, and (I think they're showing their age here). the gig seemed like an old-fashioned gig (less emphasis on the visuals - it was much different gig to the last time I was at the O2 to see Keane last year). The only downers was the supporting act who I didn't rate and I had my camera confiscated in the first 5 minutes. Apparently it was a "professional camera" (Canon would disagree :) ) and you aren't allowed them as "Duran Duran wish to protect their copyright". I didn't think there was anything there visually that outstanding compared to modern gigs - so a fuss over nothing. I did collect my camera at the end of the gig,. The internet tickets don't state "no cameras" so if you're going to the 02 venue don't take one (or don't get a front row seat! :) )
  21. 6 tickets! That must have set you back a fair bit!! :)
  22. Long Live Life replied to felicote's topic in Lost!
LOL, same here. His music is beyond entertainment, it's enriching, isn't it?
  23. Anyone who can help me out with tickets for this gig, or know where I can get some still? Thanks!
  24. I much prefer Lost? to Lost! Maybe it's because Lost! sounds too over-produced. In Lost! the drums drown out Chris' voice, yet in Lost? if ever there was a showcase for how beautiful his voice is, this is it. I downloaded Lost? from iTunes because it's not included in their album. It's becoming one of my favourites. Maybe "Lost" is actually an ironic title, as though they didn't know what direction to take, because "Lost?" very much sounds like old Coldplay, and I love every minute of it.
  25. The imagery of the album cover is related I think and not a coincidence. Wasn't it about the July 1830 deposition of Charles X of France? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_Revolution Only Chris Martin could be gifted enough to write a song about such a heavily historical theme and construct such a wonderful and beautiful song around it.
