I can very much relate to what both of you say as the same thing happened to me. I've even been a little too jealous at times and had bad times because he seemed like "the one". I think part of that was due to the competition that, I see, tends to be between Chris' fangirls. Please, don't compete about who loves him the most and such. We all do. The "competition" is unhealthy with time. In the end, the only one who was ever to compete with is Gwyneth Paltrow, and let's face it, she's won. :)

Nancy, great, you're welcome. I only knew about the quiz because my sister called to tell me so. At first I dismissed it (I had just woken up), but I got blood on the teeth from hearing their 90's pop quiz and thought I'd rather try than regret not doing so. Oh well. :)

I like me some deep melancholia rock a la AROBTTH but I think Mylo Xyloto is refreshing and has more elements of the melodies and lyrics I respond the most to than VLVODAAHF. :) Haha, this. :lol: I love AROBTTH.

Thank you very much. It actually took a while before I could listen to Coldplay properly after the accident because I could associate every song to my friend, our past and my feelings towards him and his death. I forced the music upon myself, though, and eventually it soothed more than it hurt me.

A man called Carsten got through. He sounded pretty hardcore too. He was also at Wembley 2009! Edit: Sorry for the spamming. That Carsten (who is 23 and lives in the same city as me, btw) was pretty damn good (so I never got through :(). The rules are that they play 10 Coldplay songs. First you hear 10 seconds of a song, then 9 of another, then 8 and so on down to one second of a song. The participant has to guess the song title and what release it came from. You win a cd for each correct answer. After 5 correct answers you get a lifeline. At the last question you can choose to gamble all the cd's to get twice as many if you win. The songs were: Viva La Vida from Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends Fix You - X&Y In My Place - AROBTTH Yellow - Parachutes Paradise - Mylo Xyloto Christmas Lights (single) Warning Sign - AROBTTH Moses - Live 2003 Death Will Never Conquer - LeftRightLeftRightLeft (he used his lifeline for that one. I was like "come ooon, answer or get me on the radio!" :lol:) See You Soon - The Blue Room EP The Goldrush - Life in Technicolor ii (single) He gambled but couldn't answer the last one, so he got nothing. They're all so in awe of him on the radio and the listeners texting in because he was so good. Hey, I could answer the last question and I didn't even need the lifeline. :snobby: :P It just proves that Coldplay fans really are hardcore perhaps in comparison to other music fans that get through to the other quizes. I definitely believe in starting again as being a theme of Mylo Xyloto. In the BBC Steve Llamacq interview with Chris and Jonny a dream analyst interpreted the album as being "Don't Give up". I couldn't help but relate to this and really agree that the album says this. The next is very long and personal. You have been warned. Just now I listened to Us Against the World to hear the lines "So whatever you do, don't let go," as I'm struggling with some things. This song being followed by Every Teardrop is a Waterfall (with M.M.I.X. as the transition) suddenly gave me almost an epiphany in relation to the meanings, moods and order of these songs. Almost 8 months ago, one of my best friends died in a tragic accident. A very sad time followed and I cried for days right after and every now and then. Grief hurts less with time. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall was released around my graduation from high school. It was a time of happiness but I also had mixed emotions in relation to my friend. One of the things I remember the most clearly about my summer was rocking out feeling pure joy to ETIAW. It made me feel on top and great about celebrating life while still looking back on memories and how I'd gotten through the hardest part (no pun intented). So hearing Us Against the World, which I wish I could share with him, suddenly felt like hearing my experiences of the time shortly after his death explained completely. "Like a river to a raindrop I lost a friend." It makes my eyes tear, I must admit. Then ETIAW comes on and reminds me that you can "hurt me bad, but still I'll raise the flag." Sorry, I know this is very long and personal but I felt the need to let it out, because I got a bit down tonight. It made me miss talking to said friend. I turned to Mylo Xyloto for help and found some help to an unexpected degree. I just felt like letting this off my chest and to show gratitude for the amazingness of Coldplay and their music. To conclude, yes, to start again is an important theme of MX along with don't give up.

DLIBYH is absolutely amazing! It's definitely one of my favourites on MX. :wacky: To me it's "classic" Coldplay with elements from all the previous eras + something new. It's just... wow. It really does sound like a song that's building up to the end of the album. Does anyone else think that? At least that's what I thought around the 2nd time I heard it. I can emotionally relate to this song too.

Coldplay have made several songs suitable for a wedding ceremony, especially Wedding Bells. Terrorism

I was one of the people who was optimistic about the new album when ETIAW had been released. No worries there. I didn't like Paradise, though. After my first listen of Mylo Xyloto I was in a bit of a shock. During the listening I kept finding negative things. I thought it was such a weird mix of overly overproduced songs that wanted to be mainstream pop and quiet, almost acoustic songs that seemed slightly boring. I was left so disappointed that I for a moment thought I had wasted my money on the pop-up album. :lipsrsealed2: I thought, "Where is my Coldplay? This isn't the band I know and love."I couldn't wrap my head around it. People kept tweeting me that I should listen to it again because I'd find all the beautiful things. I sure did. I listened to it again the day after. At that point the album it could only get better, I think. I began hearing the good melodies. I had gotten over and used to the different new production of the songs. From then I was hooked. I love the new album now! :wacky: Some of the songs are really, really beautiful. I love the repeated chord progression that goes through the album - it really ties the album together. I've heard the album 20+ times by now. :) As for rating the album I only think I can do that after a long time to be fair. I can probably compare it to the others better when the shine wears off.
