That's my mix :). I tried to find out what kind of music you listen to but I failed (I'm a terrible researcher), so I decided to give you some of the music I listen to and hope for the best.
I wanted it to start and end with rock (that's where it always starts and ends for me) and have a more calm, meditative part in the middle. And I think I have a couple of surprises for you.
1. Lazee - Rock Away
Swedish rapper with a quite different style, a mix of hip hop, rock and house. This is his first single and I just love how he both have the bad boy image and make fun of it.
A really cool and funny guy. And he mentions Red Hot Chili Peppers, gotta love him!
2. !!! - All My Heroes Are Weirdos
American dance-punk band, if it's even possible to label them. I'm so glad you like it! I saw them in a small rock club and it was absolutely amazing. Everything was all over the place and I did jump around like a loon :D It's guitar, bass, drums, horns, keys... and "various electronic devices". A great band!
To find them, if you want to know more, you sometimes need to enter chk chk chk in stead of !!!
3. RHCP - Readymade
I had to include Red Hot Chili Peppers in my mix, they are my first love. I chose one of their heavier, rockier songs, my second favourite off their latest album, the guitar solo is brilliant.
4. The Raconteurs - Steady As She Goes
You thought about adding them too! Funny.
5. Lord Of The Rings Symphony - Concerning Hobbits
You were so right, it is the LOTR soundtrack and it represents both my interest in classical music and also the books and movies. The composer Howard Shore conducted our Royal Philharmonics in this symphony and it was certainly a night to remember.
6. Hellsongs - Run To The Hills
This might surprise you: it's an Iron Maiden cover. A Swedish lounge metal band, the first and possibly only. This song is from their album Hymns In The Key Of 666.
Yes, I listen to some metal too (seeing Metallica this weekend) and I love these soft covers, sometimes even more than the originals. Hellsongs version of Breaking The Law beats Judas Priest's but don't tell the metalheads I said that ;)
7. Antony & The Johnsons - You Are My Sister
You described it beautifully. It is music beyond time and borders and so is Antony Hegarty, the singer, I find his voice mesmerising. I also love the cello. A fantastic song for a sister, I love the lyrics.
I've never managed to get tickets to see them live, but one day I will. I have to. I haven't got around to listen to their new album yet, but I heard it's very good.
8. John Frusciante - Unreachable
A great guitarist and a multi-talented artist. I like some of his solo work, but not all of it. His new album though is fantastic, truly original.
He is RHCP's guitarist, so the great solo in track 3 is his, but his solo work is quite different from their styles.
9. Kungers - Måndagströst
I had to give you something in Swedish :D and I thought maybe you could relate to this. I'm so glad you like it, it's a local band that deserves to be more well-known than they are.
They call their music folkpunk, a fantastic live band. Måndagströst means Monday solace and that's exactly what Kungers are to me. Too bad you can't understand the lyrics, they're so funny and clever.
10. Coldplay - Postcards From Far Away
I know we have that in common, I sent a postcard too and I worked on my mix those crazy days when we got the video. I didn't spot my card but yours were there and they are great!
11. Coldplay - 1.36
Yeah, I'm sure you've heard it before  I had trouble finding a song that could fit in between no 10 and 12 and I was so glad when I found this little gem.
If I'm correct, it's The Scientist b-side. I think it's great and I wouldn't mind hearing more of this side of Coldplay.
12. The Soundtrack of Our Lives - Thrill Me
Another Swedish band, more well-known and with a charismatic singer. Often described as a combination of The Who, The Kinks and Pink Floyd, maybe that's why they sound familiar. This song is maybe not their most typical, they're often more psychedelic.
13. Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Not the most original choice, but it had to be there. Yup, it's my headbanging song too :D
14. Green Day - Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)
I was a bit nervous about sending my mix, I thought that you might hate it so I ended it with "good riddance" so you wouldn't have to say it :D
I still like GD and I too will always love this song.
That's it. I'm so glad you found some new and old good and interesting songs.
I apologize for not converting the songs. I just assumed they all were mp3's and didn't realize til it was too late and I had already sent you the link. I'm sorry.
Huge thanks to Alison for organizing this round. Well done!

I also uploaded the songs to a Mediafire folder, if someone want to listen to just one or two of them.
